Patriots Injury News Campbell Says He's Been Playing with a Torn Ligament in His Knee

Talking out of your ass is the purpose of a sports message board?

That's true, but it's also true that if people have the right to take big ****s on the players and coaches, which they do, then I have the right to **** on the people ****ting on the players and coaches, which I do.

A lot of people seem to be missing an important part of the story here with Lowe. I agree he was fine against the Jets, Dolphins, Ravens, less so maybe in the second half against the Bills That doesn’t mean he was going to be better than an injured Campbell in the playoffs going against much higher level competition. Lowe is a complete mediocrity, maybe better under Marrone but still not great

I don’t believe for one second that Vrabel, McDaniels, and Marrone purposely handicapped the team because they felt sorry for Campbell or didn’t want that look regarding the 4th overall pick. That’s ragtime conspiracy crap for which Vrabel has provided zero (0) evidence.

Are you forgetting something about Lowe last year versus this year: Patriots tackle reveals he played 2024 with ‘major injury’?

I'm not implying that Lowe would have saved this game, but you have to wonder if he'd have been better than Campbell on a blown ACL.

So people here think that Campbell should have been benched after shutting out one of the best pass rushers in football in the AFCChampionship
game.

Quoting yourself, pal.

Maye's lack of pocket awareness didn't help. Some of those sacks were because he just held on too long. Why were there no designed runs for Maye? His shoulder was hurt, but AFAIK his legs were fine.

Maye has no problem pulling the trigger when he has an open receiver. The problem was that he had 2 seconds to find an open receiver but no one was getting open instantly. I thought for certain that MacDaniels would start the second half in a no huddle offense to wear down Seattles defense, and I'm still shocked he didn't. I think Vrabel got it into his head that the game was going to be a defensive struggle, told Maye to be really careful with the ball, and believed Darnold would implode in the second half, unfortunately after a season of making great decisions and getting pretty much everything right it didn't happen, and the Patriot were beaten by a better team.

If we're blaming someone, in a constructive way, for me it would be Vrabel. He's the one who decides who plays and who doesn't.

I am pretty sure they think he is their future starting center but he wasn't ready to step right into the role year 1. But they still wanted to get him starting reps in the NFL, so they put him at guard. In year 2 they will be able to "level him up" to center which is his true position. Then they need to find a good starting left guard, who will be better than Wilson was at that spot. So improving two spots at once.
I think so too, but I'm not 100% positive they see it that way. I think they think Bradbury did a really good job. And they have him under contract. So, I will be interested to see what they do.

It’s a good point and yes I did forget about that. I just am irritated by the idea that the coaching staff was so negligent about a championship that they would leave an injured Campbell out there supposedly knowing the presumably non-injured Lowe would be better. I’m not buying that, this isn’t BB/Malcom Butler here.

Which positions can rookies really contribute well ? We saw that oline is not something that they can. Tight ends , wide receivers, cornerbacks and linebackers seem to be safer positions to be looking for contributors.

Any stud level player who might be available to us across these 4 positions at 31 ?

That's why Vrabel really had a poor game on Sunday. I can't believe he allowed that to continue.
Vrabel Established something very early with his team that goes beyond the white lines... for instance Rham.. he loat his father and Vrabel could have benched him and really lost rham mentally.. instead he uplifts him.. same with Campbell.. a rookie first rounder.. played very well this season and got hurt Unfortunately.. if Vrabel could do it again he probably keeps Campbell on IR... I recall him even saying he had to protect Campbell from himself..

It was up to Vrabel and Marrone to tell him to sit
Yes this was a coaching misstep if that was the case. As BB used to say, its the doctor's job to approve fitness then we have to see if they can play effectively

uplifting is one thing but telling an injured guy that he believes in him is another. No one wouldve blamed vrabel if he has put cambell on IR. if anything having lowe play more games wouldve helped him build chemistry and also allowed the teammates to focus on who is there instead of expecting that campbell's return meant automatic stability.

The one thing that we can all criticize Vrabel on... other than that the man took a 4-13 team to the superbowl.. some huge wins this season and undefeated on the road.. Sunday wasn't a good day.. but the future is very bright

I'd have to go back and look, but I don't feel like they ever really lined up a tight end on that side of the line all year, which might have been helpful, especially given what he was dealing with. If you're not going to take him out, you have to try and get him help and I feel like that goes beyond keeping Stevenson in there for blitz pick up.

Although, with the season being over, it's a moot point - but I was still surprised that they never really adjusted yet still kept trying to push the ball downfield.
They also didnt adjust trying to get the ball out sooner. And maye loves the big play more than the checkdown. Even the TD he threw to hollins was a high risk, higher difficulty throw than to diggs or someone else who was open underneath. That is reason he kept holding on to the ball long and also the eventual interception on hero ball. i remember brady telling josh , playing QB is all about mitigating risk, and moving on to the next play

The problem for me is that if they don’t think he can definitely beat out Bradbury then they should be in on the free agent center market. There are two centers who will be far better than Bradbury and you can pay for their first year cap hits by cutting Bradbury.

Yep saw him say that. So now the issue is Wilson to center and find a LG? That would be easier to do in the draft as well. I now agree with Vrabel give the kid an offseason to work on getting better. He isn't even fully grown yet.

I'm in the sign Tyler Lindebaum camp, then draft a guard

Totally Understand... as I've mentioned probably the only thing I can truly critique Vrabel on was allowing Campbell to play.. I even said back in December that he should not be playing stay in IR until he's fully ready and recovered.. RG3s career was ruined by a similar Injury coming back to soon.. Lowe was playing well..

Let me preface this by saying that I’m often wrong, but I don’t think they’re going after Lindebaum. I think they’ll go after a guard. And maybe cut/trade Bradbury in camp as long as it’s clear Wilson is ready.

Great news and I am glad Vrable didn't waist anytime supporting Will. He is 22 years old and deserves the opportunity to grow into a solid tackle. He played well during the regular season and did his best throughout the playoffs/superbowl. Looking forward to seeing how he progress's the next 2-4 years.

Character matters, and they loaded up on character players in the 25' Draft. This will pay off significantly in the coming offseason, and for years after that. I think we will see this entire draft class buy in heavily into their offseason programs, and with a year under their belt and this offseason work we will see significant jumps in their play next season. In particular I think we will see major improvement from the rookie OL's.
