Second half Drake review complete. Was definitely worse than first half. However, not discouraging as I would have thought. Drake is clearly still the guy even in a bad game. While there were zero definitively bad plays by him in the first half (2 were questionable) the second half had 8 bad/questionable. Reviewing some plays below:
-The first drive was the roughest but the missed offside on the punt would have made it all moot. The DD back shoulder was a good throw, DD was looking back early and never adjusted. He did have back in the flat for short gain but DD should have played it better. Still counted as 1 of the 8.
-Back shoulder Boutte was not there but nothing else was open either.
-Made great pocket movement and then shorted the throw as DD came clear of the DB. This is one play of the 3 he missed and would like back. Again, Punt was offsides and not called. No breaks.
-Started drive 2 with sack, yeah Diggs came open late to right and had hand up but read was left then middle and then he was trying to bail pocket. Maybe he waits a long time in the pocket and maybe he gets Diggs before sacked, maybe.
-Free blitzer but gets rid of it to Boutte, too fast and a little wide and thru Boutte hands, needs a better throw
-Free blitzer fumble to TD
-Missed Hooper out of EZ, just overthrew, was trying to get it over DB but too far. This and DD miss were the two bad misses.
-Jump ball to middle to Hollins should have been PI or illegal contact, just as Drake was releasing the DB hit Hollins and he stumbled, I think Drake saw that as he threw and took something off it because Hollins may have got open deep otherwise. Hollins almost caught it, almost picked BUT 100% a penalty not called on defense.
-Bad pick on Williams deep ball, he clearly thought Williams would sit down in the zone and come back for the ball in front of defender, Williams kept running easy pick, bad decision.
Definitively bad plays: Sack and fumble, Fumble TD, Pick to Williams, Missing DD and Hooper open then had 3 additional questionable plays. Way too many bad plays against that defense and to win a SB. Seattle defense had a lot to do with it.
BTW I thought the Denver game was the worst game I ever saw him play in college or pros. This was not that.
FYI 7 times they had a free blitzer to the QB. 3 Others were non blitz immediate pressure.
