I agree with everything else though. What are we doing here? Comparing the greatest quarterback of all time to a 23 year old kid who basically carried us to the Super Bowl? I love Brady and I love Maye but comparing the two isn’t fair.
Tom would've won tonight lolBrady doesn't win tonight. But he puts up a better performance. That's not a knock on a 23 year old kid either. That is simply acknowledging Brady’s brilliance.
I think everyone is now hit with the reality Maye will never be Brady. Mahomes isn't. Nobody will be. They need to invest in talent on the receiver and TE spot. Most of all, upgrade the OL. The days of the QB turning B receivers into A receivers are over.
Man…I did not think “future HOF” watching Drake tonight. Just didn’t see much fire in the belly.Expecting Maye to be Brady is a fools errand. We got a unicorn. Don’t expect the same thing again. And Brady didn’t win by himself either. We had either an all time defense or an all time TE (except 2016 ofc) alongside him.
We are incredibly lucky that we got the GOAT and followed him up just a few years later with a kid who has the demonstrated ability to be a top echelon QB. Let’s give this kid some more help and hopefully he develops into an all time QB that can win a ring. We may never get back to the SB or we might win multiple with Maye. We don’t know yet but at least it’s not laughable to think Maye could be a HOF level QB when all is said and done. We have hope, that’s more than all but 4-5 franchises in the NFL right now.
Did Peyton look like he had fire in his belly losing his first what 3 playoff games? Drew Brees got dumped by his first team (and it wasn’t at all a stupid decision at the time).Man…I did not think “future HOF” watching Drake tonight. Just didn’t see much fire in the belly.
Brady isn't the overall GOAT, that title would belong to either Jerry Rice or LT. Those guys literally changed the game, that's how good they were. Brady also isn't even a quarter of the athlete that those guys were. Belichick said that LT is the greatest player he has ever coached by a country mile. Go on YouTube, search for 'Pain Game' and watch LT literally play with one arm and dominant the game. Legendary stuff.
.
Where Brady excelled was football IQ and he had the clutch factor. He was never gifted with the natural and athletic talent that QB's like Aaron Rodgers and Dan Marino possessed, but he made up for that by being, as he said in his own words "starlink before starlink" and I wouldn't disagree. A methodical machine.
Yeah but not a guarantee we'll be back with Maye. We got spoiled with Tom/BBDid Peyton look like he had fire in his belly losing his first what 3 playoff games? Drew Brees got dumped by his first team (and it wasn’t at all a stupid decision at the time).
Let’s not judge a guys entire career off a few games in year 2. He has shown he can absolutely play at an extraordinarily high level for an entire regular season with a very mediocre supporting cast. I have no idea if Drake is going to become a HOF level player but it’s absolutely a realistic outcome, which is way more than we could’ve hoped for going into this year. The kid is 23 - the story is not close to being written for him yet.

Drake is soft unfortunately. Tom was a serial killer
Was it hooper that was wide open and drake overthrew him so badly. Pathetic.
Agreed. I was hoping the weather was affecting Maye in the playoffs and that was the main reason for the drop-off but that theory went out the window last night. All in all he is a young QB with tons of promise and hopefully uses this as motivation to build off of.He carried us to the playoffs. Not the SB. The defense did that. I agree with everything else though.
He did say if the teams played 10x, Seattle would win 6. That's not no chance at all.Bit of a hot take: I think Brady knew the entire time that the Pats had no freaking chance last night and that’s a factor as to why he was so painfully diplomatic when he talked about the game. He saw Maye in the AFCCG just like we all did but we just chose to be in denial and blame it all on the weather.
And don’t believe me? Remember in 2019 when despite being 8-0 he told Chris Collinsworth in the production meeting that he was “the most miserable 8-0 QB ever?” Because he knew that team just wasn’t Super Bowl caliber between having no receivers and the defense being fraudulent and absolutely embarrassing themselves against the Ravens, Texans, and then finally Ryan freaking Fitzpatrick at home.
If anyone's looking for a reason the Pats lost, and lost so badly, go no further than PEDton Manning if he got involved with Maye. Why in the world would a new Patriot QB go to Manning for advice during the playoffs? He's the biggest choker in NYFL playoff history, many times as the top seed.Does that mean that PEDton started "helping" Maye 37 days ago?
If so, how in the world did Maye make it to the playoffs?
Luckily PEDton didn't teach Maye his most common move. The one-and-done playoff.
I don't know if he would have won tonight, but Tom towards the latter half of his career really understood how to play a defense like this and carve them up with screens, passes to backs out of the backfield and quick slot plays. That usually started spreading them out and wearing them down as the game went on.Tom would've won tonight lol
That will hopefully come with more experience in games that matter against great defenses.I don't know if he would have won tonight, but Tom towards the latter half of his career really understood how to play a defense like this and carve them up with screens, passes to backs out of the backfield and quick slot plays. Maye was not reading most of those throws and was intent on going downfield and it played well into Seattle's plan.
