Brady is the goat but FU

Ted Williams!
He was before my days. I was born 1 year before he retired. I did see Russell play but I was a Bruins fan back then. Got into the Celtics when Havlicek, Cowens, Silas and JoJo years and enjoyed them for many years after. Basketball nose dived after Russell/Chamberlin. Regained its viewing during Bird/Magic years

Brady isn't the overall GOAT, that title would belong to either Jerry Rice or LT. Those guys literally changed the game, that's how good they were. Brady also isn't even a quarter of the athlete that those guys were. Belichick said that LT is the greatest player he has ever coached by a country mile. Go on YouTube, search for 'Pain Game' and watch LT literally play with one arm and dominant the game. Legendary stuff.

.

Where Brady excelled was football IQ and he had the clutch factor. He was never gifted with the natural and athletic talent that QB's like Aaron Rodgers and Dan Marino possessed, but he made up for that by being, as he said in his own words "starlink before starlink" and I wouldn't disagree. A methodical machine.

When people refer to TB12 as the GOAT, I'm sure that is in the context of Quarterbacks... I don't think anyone considers him the greatest athlete of all time...

I do. Yes he isn't the fastest or most graceful or jumps the highest. Those are a more traditional definition of athleticism but the ability to do something the exact same way again and again and again even under tremendous pressure is an unusual ability I would put into athletic. It's the same as Tiger Wood, who is often mentioned as the greatest athlete, despite playing the incredibly demanding physical sport of Golf *sarcasm if that wasn't obvious*.

It got hammered home to me how different these guys are when sports science had Drew Brees on to see who was more accurate an NFL QB or an Olympic archer. I thought for sure it was going to be the archer and yet 9/10 times Drew hit a bullseye and they showed the wind up down to degree angle all PRECISELY the same. That's an athletic talent too because you and I sure as hell can't do it. Now the fact that Brady has 6 rings and Brees has one is why he is the GOAT QB but QBs are athletes too so I have no problem with anyone saying best player in NFL history.

It's not " The Greatest Athlete of All Time"

And how did Jerry Rice " change the game ?"

My bad, I quoted the wrong person. This was meant for the idiot claiming Brady isn't the GOAT.
By your logic Michael Vick would be an all time great, and Wayne Gretzky wouldn't be in the discussion of hockey greats.

This really isn't true and I can't find anything about that in the NFL rules. It might look distasteful and be bad business for the league as a whole but there isn't anything forbidding it.
I didn't say it was a rule, it's common sense.

I agree that it is an unwritten rule and nothing forbids it, but I find it interesting how you admit it looks distasteful and is bad business.

It’s Game Day time to focus on the game. Just saying LOL!

Have we ere heard a team owner show favoritism or predict a victory for a conference foe?

Not that I can remember.

And that's why they race horses, we aren't all the same. It's a 'bad take' from where you sit, a realistic one from my seat. You my friend are as entitled to your passionate opinion as I am to my cynical one. I still love the laundry, my old Pat Patriot stadium seat, the signed Hannah, Grogan, Branch and Wilfork jerseys are all still in their places on my den walls and when I go out the door like as not Pat Patriot will be on my jacket and hat. (We are never going to agree on the abomination that is the Flying Elvis, now that IMO was a true sell out but a subject for another time) As long as I draw breath I'll gladly pay my end of our season tickets every year even if it is so the kids (heck, often their kids) can use them these days. THE PATRIOTS, not Tom Brady, are part of the fabric of our family and the divvying up of the tickets will always be a family holiday here.

Brady is an odd duck and a Cali guy he was never 'Our Tommy!' We just once thought he was, some of us for longer than others. As a passionate long time real deal Pats fan if you want to be pissed off at corporate sold his soul Tom Brady, that is your right. Just as it is mine to simply ruefully shake my head and go about my business. Brady isn't Grogan, he didn't make us his own he didn't stay here when he was done playing and he isn't one of 'us'. We got our championships from Brady's efforts and I'm immensely thankful for them. From where I sit he gave his all while he was here and that's the only thing I feel any professioanl athlete ever owes any of us. You feel Brady continues to owe your emotional investment more despite his not being here anymore. I would invite you to consider Brady was a contracted employee of the Patriots. He was drafted by the team, not born unto us. What he does or doesn't do isn't personal, it's just business. He doesn't know us and any more than we know him.

I honestly respect you and your passion Tune, that isn't contingent on us agreeing on everything. Please continue to feel free to call me out whenever you feel you need an explanation for any position I take. I'll do my best to give it to you and I hope it'll be understandable. A fair weather clown shoe wearing Sam though can kiss my ass.

FU Tom Brady? Not me. I say "Thank you Tom Brady. I'm sorry you're not the guy we wish you were but I know that's an us thing. Thank you for the rings and I hope you have a good life.*"

* And please stop with the cosmetic surgeries Dude, they aren't your friend
That was spot on. I had the exact same feeling when I ran into Wes Welker last year. I just wanted to thank the guy for all he gave me. I didn't care about any negative stuff.

I used to think Brady was an Orr type but he changed or my perception changed. But damn he was great.

It's really pretty ugly to see a giant FU to Brady here.

In the beginning he made stickum more popular. He had the dropsies.

He probably does not want to openly cheer for NE at the risk of annoying his new HC (Kubiak) and the organization he co-owns (Raiders).

He does not want to cheer for Seattle at the risk of upsetting Patriots fans and the Krafts.

There was no right answer except for what he said.
It may be simpler than thst. He may still be bitter about the way things ended in NE
He could have still thrown a few bones to Pats and their fans without upsetting Kubiak or Raiders.
I doubt Kubiak is that thin skinned

I miss you Tom. Sorry so many fake “fans” took you for granted. Maybe now they’ll discover a newfound appreciation.

In Super Bowl 42 Tom Brady, on a high ankle sprain, managed to not turn the ball over once and gave the team a 14-10 lead with 2 minutes to go despite the offensive line not blocking anyone and nearly getting him murdered.

I like Maye. A lot. He’s The Guy and will be for a decade. But FFS too many of you people were so quick to just dump on Brady because he hurt your feelings with a nothing comment.

Brady doesn't win tonight. But he puts up a better performance. That's not a knock on a 23 year old kid either. That is simply acknowledging Brady’s brilliance.

I think everyone is now hit with the reality Maye will never be Brady. Mahomes isn't. Nobody will be. They need to invest in talent on the receiver and TE spot. Most of all, upgrade the OL. The days of the QB turning B receivers into A receivers are over.
