Will Campbell Watch

Yeah that's why he should probably stash that for now until he can improve his technique. Good wrinkle to throw at a guy who's letting it rip upfield but you really can't afford to miss it.

Verdarian Lowe's made an entire career out of missing cut blocks. At least Campbell I think only does it when the play calls for it.

I do not think that was by design. It looked to me like he got a late start off the ball (which happens on the road) and was beat so dived at him to try to cut him. Did not work and thankfully Bonitto eased up instead of drilling Drake which it looked like he could have legally.

***** ass

Pats drafted a guard at 4OA, as I said on draft night. Sad to be right about that.

So much for fighting and dying for his QB.

So when you hear stats about how guys under a certain benchmark are never successful in the NFL, you should probably believe the statistics and not believe that you’re going to be the 1 in 100 exception.

Give the guy a minute, ffs. He’s a 22 y/o rookie. None of you mentioned the word ‘arms’ all season, and now he’s a t-rex because he couldn’t handle a game he was never going to be prepared for at this stage of his career.

But are Will Campbell’s struggles the result of short arms? I looked carefully at all his lowlights when they came up in the playoffs, and I don’t see how an extra inch or two would have made much difference, he’s either getting overpowered or getting smoked by moves (like what DeMarcus Lawrence did).

I came on here to wonder if he’d even make a good guard, since one of his issues seems to be strength.

I’m just hoping as his body matures and he puts on weight and muscle, he develops into a good LT. I don’t think he’ll be elite, but good and consistent might be enough as Maye develops more and sees things faster.

People will say he was only playing below expectations after the injury but the tape does not lie. Go look at film against good rushers and he was very poor. If we want Maye healthy, he is not it for blind spot protection. Tape against Atlanta, Browns, Bucs and even the Bengals prior to getting injured. You can make all the excuses you want but dude is not it. He is not him.

Wasted #4 overall pick.

If you're picked in the top 5 you should have elite physical measurables.

Campbell's physical limitations exposed him against elite DEs.

Tet would have been a great pick.

Put this guy to protect Maye and expect him to feel comfortable? lol. I know this play was blown dead but the defense knew he was weak.

I've seen Campbell with out his shirt, he needs to hit the gym big time

I preferred Tet but also we needed an OT. Campbell was steady enough to be a help for many games. Until it really counted.

He's good against mediocre DEs but is overmatched against good DEs.

Picking for need is never good. Always pick best available talent.

I've been one of the loudest. William Campbell truthers in my own circles since we've drafted him. However, I always pride myself when it comes to football, especially on being a straight shooter.

This playoffs has definitely given a huge platform to the folks who feel like William Campbell should be a left guard in the NFL.

I'm not saying that I am officially converted but after the last 3 or 4 weeks there's definitely a debate and I wouldn't be necessarily upset if he ends up being our starting LG for a few runs.

I had this fear going into the draft about Campbell as he just didn't have enough pedigree to be worthy of the #4 selection. I'm seriously concerned about his lower body strength. Aside from his lack of arm length, the other knock on him was that he gets pushed back. I noticed it all season him getting pushed into Maye and it was alarming tonight. Putting him at G isn't going to solve that. This has got to improve.

With that said, the Pats couldn't take the risk and take someone else like Hunter, Carter or Tet. Pats needed a T badly.
