2026 Draft: EDGE

"I don't care that he's my age".

Oh, for the good old days of Akheem Mesidor as a day 3 value pick.

Surgeries on both feet. 25 years old. Only 1 year of great production. That is a huge risk, can't see him in R1, especially with the foot surgeries after what just happened to Nix in Denver.

That is quite possible. Medicals will be key.

Medicals+age a double whammy. But he is so good.

Freeling/Iheanachor/Lomu R1 + Mesidor R2 my dream. Add Stukes/Scott/Wheatley R3 and a good WR (possible tradeoff if one falls), and some say 3 depth guys.

Gabe Jacas, Illinois, EDGE 6-3, 260 32 6/8 arms

Pronounced ACAS, not Jackass sadly

Has been listed as 270 plus throughout the season but was 260 at the SB.

From the freaks list

No. 59 Gabe Jacas, Illinois, outside linebacker

The former state champion wrestler from Florida has been a menace to opponents. .....

“He has lost over seven percent of his body fat from last season to the start of this season,” strength coach Tank Wright said. The 6-3, 270-pound Jacas is now under 12 percent. He has hit over 20 mph on the GPS and bench pressed 225 pounds for 30-plus reps.

“Talent is common at this level of college football; however, work ethic sets the elite apart from the rest, and Gabe Jacas is the definition of work ethic and dedication,” Wright said. “Football has become his lifestyle. From early morning workouts to late afternoon workouts. He has embraced every aspect of a relentless mindset to achieve high goals.”

I got that feeling about you not being a fan and that is what made my comment funnier too me.
Just remember. This draft season no-one is "up with Mesidor" for me.

I am of the opinion that we draft 2 edge rushers that have the best 3 cone.

It's always a good test although I would caveat it with them having the right size too. Smaller guys like R Mason Thomas and Romello Height will likely have better 3-cones than Zion Young - that doesn't mean they are better every down pass rushers.

I use sub 7 second as a good measure.

I figure that the way that they rotate players if we have guys that can routinely get in the backfield they don't need to be 3 down guys. Landry was 6-2 250 or so and we was a rotational guy his rookie year 591- 60% snaps but then was an every down guy. For perspective Chaisson played 639 snaps-67%(I know he was injured some but it gives perspective on play time).

I was high on Donovan Ez last year because of his 3 cone and he generated 35 or so pressures for the cowboys on 600 snaps. He was pick 12 in the 2nd round.

So in summation, I would like to see them bring in players that can get to the QB and It doesn't matter to me if they are an "every down player".

I think DL is the only position that doesn't require "every down players" in order to keep players fresh and that is why its crucial to bring in several quality pass rushers.
