More than likely alone. Any time I watch with others, whether or not they are a pats fan or a fan of the opponent, I feel like I’m jinxing it for some reason and they usually end up losing. I really hope this week isn’t like last weeks because I will end up getting/having a stroke or ulcer.

Change of plans. Daughter away in CA on business unfortunately flying home during SB. Does Jet Blue televise?
This leaves son-in-law Home Alone as 1 daughter is away at UCSD Bioinformatics Masters and sister at Oxford UK for the semester. So I invited SIL to fly down for the weekend to watch on new 77" OLED. I will be supplying a fine single malt beverage and wearing my 2000 Patriots Training Camp shirt which is full of holes from washing out the blood of a Fins fan who made the fatal mistake of attacking my buddy Bill Beaulac, ex-hockey enforcer. Patriots Mailing List trip to Miami. We lost the game badly.

Brisket is the "king of BBQ" but I gotta say nothing beats the simplicity of a pork butt. I have yet to mess up a pork butt, but I've screwed up brisket a time or two. Plus it's like $25 at the butcher whereas brisket ends up being $90-120 for a full packer.

My trick is that I am gonna smoke the brisket Saturday morning into Saturday evening, rest it a few hours, refrigerate, then Sunday morning it goes in the oven on warm until it's 145 internal again. It's not as good as fresh off the smoker brisket but it's close enough that it's worth doing when you're on a schedule and need food ready by X:XX PM
For Christmas I bought myself a sous vide setup for holding temp or reheating things I’ve smoked. Have used it a couple of times, worked nicely, as planned. In fact I will be using it tonight to reheat the remaining leftover portion of a prime rib roast I smoked before the recent storm.

Now you have me thinking about the brisket I just saw at the local market. Or maybe another prime rib roast? I’ve not tried brisket yet, being single and having a small freezer spending $120+ for 20+ pounds of beef isn’t the most attractive. But they have flats and even partial flats so I’m not on the hook for a full packer. Hmm… if only it weren’t going down to like 12 or 15 degrees every night, and my smoker leaks like a sieve…

I watched the AFC championship game which on a cruise ship in the Caribbean. I will still be on for the SuperBowl and they will have a big party. I will be wearing my Pat Patriot jersey. Was at a similar party two years ago, but I didn’t really care who won that one.

Funny story on this topic.
In the 2 weeks leading up to SB XLII I built a “Super Bowl Shrine” with 42 Patriot items.
I did it again 4 years later.
They lost both.
3 years later when they went back, I mentioned the Shrine and my son, 16 at the time, told me I can never do that again because they lost both times I did.

I brought it up last week and he said he would tear it down if I built one.

Last two Super Bowl i was there (Minneapolis and Atlanta)

This time i can not...
Anyway i would have spent same money
Ticket plus flight plus hotel approx 6k Eur plus food drink etc
More or less 7k EUR in total for 4/5 days
(8.3k USD)

Game will start here 00.30 am monday

I am allready fired up

Tell him if he needs help there will undoubtedly be some on here who would volunteer to help him with that insurance.

No, you Cmon!
During the NFCC, Brady told one story that lasted nearly 3 plays taking short breaks after each down so Burkhardt coukd squeeze in the play by play. Brady would resume story time and continue long after the ball was snapped.

Will probably watch alone.

What I won't do is what a game with my Sister-In-law, again. We were at a friend's house for SB 51 and, my god, she was insufferable. I had to sit and bite my tongue the whole time. She just kept piling on. But I kept my cool and didn't gloat when the Pats turned it around.
You’re a better man than me. I would have let her have it with both barrels.

I may watch it with my season ticket buddies. It will probably depend on the weather whether I stay home. I’m fine with watching it with a small group or at home. I would not do well at a big party.

Thinking of Murphy's, but also wondering what fresh hell might get dumped on us weather-wise...

Good boy.

As said my someone else more eloquently, I like how he delves into Xs and Os more now. “Tell me something that I do not understand.” I don’t love the rambles either.

Thinking similarly. Long range forecasts are not looking nasty. At least not yet.

We have a local bar here in Dover, NH that is normally closed on Sundays but we know the very nice owner so we all pile into the bar and he opens the bar up for select group of people. We've done it the past couple Superbowls and this is the first one we will be able to do it to watch the pats!

If the Pats are in it, normally I watch alone and pace. But my oldest kid has finally gotten old enough to become a true Pats fan, so we're doing a family Super Bowl party, during which I will probably pace.
Same here this year.

Since 2001 I have ended up watching all of the superbowls where the Patriots are playing alone, except one. That one was a watch party where I was the only Pats fan and it was 2007. After that trauma I was quite happy to watch the 2nd dynasty ones alone again.

This year my oldest daughter learned I got up to watch the AFC championship at 3am and wants to join me so we can watch the superbowl together. Luckily it's at 6.30am so much easier, and I will probably end up with all the kids by the end of the 1st quarter.

Hoping its a big win, and the start of a new tradition.
