I am going to guess that this was not "Plan A", or even Plan B, C, D, or E, but once Pegula kept & promoted Beane and then held that unbelievably embarrassing press conference, no serious candidate had any interest in coaching there anymore. So they were left with little to no options, and Brady was probably one of the few barely-qualified ones left who was willing to put up with Pegula and Beane, because he already works there.

Problem is - how do you spin this to the fans, when you said you needed "a change in direction", and you just blamed the bad picks on "McDermott's staff", and then kept a guy from the same staff? Basically saying you fired a guy for no reason, you just felt like making the team worse. In reality I am sure Pegula expected to have better options, but this is what it looks like to the average fan.
What coach want to walk into that type of situation? not only is the owner dogging players in the presser, he promotes the guy who's job it is to find the players...

welcome to hell buffalo joe brady ...

@GreenCow what is your take on this ********? Is it a positive advancement for the Bills in your estimation? Does it bring them closer to beating the Pats in the next 10 years?

Not even close.

Speaking of which, I’m calling this now. McDermott already said he’s taking the year off (fired a little late where many of the “good” jobs were already filled). 10 head coaches fired this past season which is much higher than usual, and most teams won’t give up on the first year coach unless he performs like Jerod Mayo, and even then teams as dumb as the Jets will still give that guy a second year.

We might be looking at only 4-6 openings next offseason. The pickings will still be looking pretty slim for McDermott.

If McDermott wasn’t royally pissed at Buffalo before, he is now. He’s going to want to stick it to them any chance they get. Meanwhile, one other organization with a history of hiring defensive head coaches will see McDermott’s hiring with the Bills as the moment that franchise rose from the grave, and he will do the same for them too while getting to rub it in Buffalo’s face twice a year. They’ll give him control of the roster that he didn’t have in Buffalo, he just has to justify to their teenage sons why this player is better than someone with a higher Madden rating. McDermott will get to face the AFC East twice a year, a division he’s already intimately familiar with.

That’s right, Sean McDermott is your 2027 NY Jets head coach.

Who is going to start the "BILLS SUCK 2026 EDITION (OFFICIAL): I RATHER JUMP OFF A TABLE AND LAND ON bildo THAN HAVE JOE BRADY BE THE COACH " thread?

Their track record of suckage is beginning to closely approximate that of the Jete, so, yes, it's time.

Sorry Marv Levy, Jim Kelly, Thurmon Thompson, Andre Reed, et al but the current Pegula regime has covered your "lovable losers" legacy so deep under so much **** that it will never see the light of day ever again.

Reactions on the 1st post of the thread reporting the Brady promotion on a Bills forum. Adding them up its...

What a complete, utter, total ****ing clownshow.

Also, deserved. This is what happens Bills fans, when you beat your chest over division titles, and that's all you have to show for it.
Holy ****, the Dolphins might beat you out next year too.

LOL. This **** is getting too easy to predict.

With that said, I think the Bills hire in house to keep control like Jerry Jones loves to do. If Allen is a fan of Joe Brady, I think he'll end up being the HC.
In the end, I still think Joe Brady is going to be the guy because an outside coach won't want to deal with the dysfunction. The only other option is that they look for a "yes man" or someone desperate to be a HC like Brian Schottenheimer who has been known as a D-list OC for his career.

From the OC that brought you "Duos, Inside Zone, Bubble Screen, PI Bait"...we are proud to present...

The HC to bring you Duos, Inside Zone, Bubble Screen, PI Bait.

But Pegula said Beane "definitely wasn't making a power play!" Didn't you hear him? He said if he sensed anyone was making a power play, "they're out!"
He also said that the Coleman pick was on McDermott and his staff
Then 2 seconds later Beane said he was also in on the pick and the video on draft night confirms that and makes Pegula look bad
