Unconfirmed: Speculation on Maye having shoulder injury

hope this isn’t true. down the field is the best way to attack the SEA defense and Maye has the best deep ball in the NFL. a right shoulder injury would really mess that up for this game

I had always thought dr chaos reports on ‘truly injured’ ( that is, guys carted off field or actually listed as out in the game) to be fairly accurate. Not a channel subscriber so maybe never saw his misses. But this guy [Dr Sutterer] seems REALLY CREDIBLE.

THANKS Tommy. Now I can sleep at night.

I've worked in musculoskeletal for best part of two decades, and I don't usually mind Dr Chao.... However this is serious quack terrirory here.

He's chucked really some minor inconclusive stuff at the wall and made a definitive conclusion to get clicks in the superbowl build up. Even if he's partially right, its still unprofessional and he got lucky.

Will Maye surpass TB12 for the longest running injury report appearance in NFL history?

The streak starts now!
Brady, Q, chip on shoulder

At least he can go for the game.

If Seattle wins it doesn’t count because Maye’s shoulder isn’t 100%. I think I’m doing this right

I will say that I thought it was weird that Reiss asked Maye about his health during his press conference after the game. Felt like a strange question and one that was a little unusual, but it's possible he knew or saw something that prompted him to ask:

On how he'd describe how he came out of this game health-wise:

"Yeah, I think some bumps and bruises, but hey, that's what it takes. And I think a lot of those guys in that locker room are battling through things. And I think at the same time, the best thing about it is we get another chance at it, another chance at it to get healthy in two weeks. And we're going to some nicer weather, I think, knock on some wood, we'll see. But a chance to go win the Super Bowl, man. That's what it is. That's pretty cool."

Dr. Chao is a lot of things but he has been spot on on many injuries just based on how he watches films. Watch the interaction with Wilson getting to the end here. Hmmm…

Yeah, seems like he's favoring that arm a little bit. Again, wonder if Reiss saw something also, because I've transcribed the majority of Maye's press conferences after each game this year, and I don't think I've ever heard anyone ask him about his health. They've asked "How are you feeling?" or "How does it feel ... " but never directly about his health.

But whatever Dr. Chao is, the way he is 100% convince Maye has a shoulder injury is bizarre and strange. If he is wrong, no one should post him again!

Nothing a cortisone shot can't heal for a Game. Maye's going to have to pass for
300 or more for us to win.

We are all diehard fans and want Drake to be able to play his best for the biggest game, but the amount of "shoot the messenger" on this board is surprising especially from the posters I have grown to respect through the years. I am concerned but hoping for the best.

No he won't.
I love Maye, he allows to make plays against great defenses. But have always felt our D would determine where we finished in the playoffs. Our D is now first-rate. 2 studs in the middle of the D line control the run game. Best since Seymour and Wilfork days. Elite cover corner allows options in coverage. If our D shows up, Maye does not have to throw for 300.

Yeah, I assume all of us cringed at that tackle when it happened and watched closely as Maye reached for his shoulder pad afterwards. Dr. Chao's histrionic report is easy to dismiss, a dramatic overreaction for the sake of clicks. His "evidence" hardly points to a major injury. But I'd bet that shoulder is mighty sore this morning, and I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see Maye limited in early practices.

I'd rather pound the rock with Stevenson and a sprinkle of Hendo too if I'm being honest.

Let’s see if he winds up in the Pat’s first injury reports, otherwise it’s just speculation.
I remember the play that caused the injury. One of the defenders tackled Maye sideways and put all his weight on Maye when they hit the frozen turf. It's the same type of play that took out Garoppolo when he was here. Maye's reaction told me that he was hurt and it may be why he didn't throw many passes.
