Even then I’m sure some 6’4” ~250 lb former linebackers get more respect than others. One that has multiple Super Bowl rings with both sacks and TD catches in the games that won those rings is going to get a lot of respect as the default starting point. It will be adjusted slightly up or down by how he brings it every day. I don’t think there’s any question how Vrabel will move that needle every day.Maybe the players were too young to appreciate Vrabel in real time while he was playing, but they have to respect a 6'4", ~250 lb former player more than some 150 lb, pencil-necked analytics geek coach no matter how smart he is...
Collection of quotes from yesterday's pressers:
“I play hard for that man,’ Barmore said. “The things that man taught me, how he coaches me, I really respect the man with my life.”
“It’s the most fun I’ve had since high school,” Campbell said. “This is just everything I could’ve asked for coming into the league. I’m just super grateful for him.”
“He’s absolutely unbelievable,” Bradbury said. “This player-friendly term gets thrown around a lot, but it looks different. He’s hard on us when he needs to be. But he’s also a lot of fun at times. This whole locker room will ride with that guy."
“He’s a great coach. At the end of the day, he’s one of us,” receiver Kayshon Boutte said. “He played. He’s been through it. He experienced it. He played in the Super Bowl, too. He’s happy for us, but without him, we wouldn’t be where we are today.”
I feel like BB not praising guys enough might be a bit overstated but it definitely feels like Vrabel looked at his experience and decided to handle things differently.. Quite honestly it seems as though BBs personality couldn't allow himself to get close to his players. Not in NE at least as the HC.
Vrabel knows how to straddle that fence and he has the respect of every player in there because he's been there and really knows what it takes. 50 was a true champ and a clutch mf who made countless plays for 3 Super Bowl teams.. But he also shows his appreciation and support on a consistent basis. I'm not surprised they all love him, what's not to love??
Lol at the Titans organization.
I mean, lol at Amy Adams Strunk, another nepo baby destroying a once-proud franchise.Lol at the Titans organization.
When Mike Vrabel was hired someone interviewed BB and he said in so many words... MV is a microcosm of him the GOAT HC *before he lost his fastball*. Attention to detail - Situational football - Players HC - and so on and so forth. We can see it from his Coaching: MV is getting the best out of his players. Most of these guys haven't played like this for their previous Teams ie... Chaisson - Tonga - Durden just to name a few: there's something in the Mike Vrabel's Kool aid.Collection of quotes from yesterday's pressers:

Good point and Rham is a Testament: I know I wanted him shipped out after that Steeler game. But I remember Vrabel saying we Need Rham: boy was he correct we wouldn't be here without him: a key cog in the machine. Mike gets' his players to buy in: He's literally Out Coaching his Coaching peers: that's an advantage we had with the Early Dynasty BB.It was Vrabel's commitment to his players that won them. Standing by Stevenson and other players through adversity demonstrated fully that he wasn't just talk, but that he had their backs and would do everything he could to help them succeed. This season was the best coaching job I have ever seen. He took the worst team in football and turned them into the team competing for the Championship. Incredible job.
Let's keep this G ratedThe man has made it fun to watch and follow again. This time with the added benefit of the Love in that locker room
Devil’s advocate : you forgot SB trophies when it comes to ‘full of’ …. Ego is fine w me if it comes w trophies.Biggest factor in Pats "aura" from the old dynasty teams is Vrabel. The guy checks off so many boxes in terms of leadership and likeability, and authenticity. Not sure how you can even dislike this team as an outsider between him and Maye. Far cry from the Beli/Brady days, which were full of ego & "gates".
