Leonard Taylor III gets fingertips on ball to force Will Lutz missed FG

Will the Miami Hurricanes football program produce a first round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft? ESPN’s Todd McShay believes it is possible, putting UM defensive tackle Leonard Taylor in his early first-round predictions for the next draft class.

McShay slots Taylor in at the No. 14 overall pick to the Seattle Seahawks. Here is what the ESPN NFL Draft expert writes about Taylor: “A former five-star recruit, Taylor flashed during the 2022 season at Miami. Go watch his tape against Virginia to see what he can do -- Taylor had 1.5 sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss in that one. Seattle brought in Derick Hall on Day 2 this year, but it didn't fix the interior, and GM John Schneider will likely keep building up that defensive line. At 6-foot-3 and 305 pounds, Taylor can help. He has 10 or more tackles for loss in each of his two seasons with the Hurricanes.”

Round 1, Pick 17. This past season, Taylor lived up to his top-10 recruit billing coming out of high school. His 19.5% pass-rush win rate and 16.2% pressure rate trailed only Calijah Kancey among Power Five interior defensive linemen. With an increased workload, Taylor could rise even higher than this.

The Denver kicker says he thinks the holder set up one yard too close to the LoS (because of confusion caused by the snow). If true, that certainly would help trying to get a hand on the kick.

"Fingertips ... "

I heard somewhere he got cut. Can’t be true ?

Gotta hand it to Denver, going with an outdoor stadium in the Rocky Mountains for a game whose championship rounds are in winter, then complaining about snow.

Also gotta hand it to them for choosing to wear their primary color, bright orange, when they as home team could have chosen to go with whites.

Great thinking, fellas!

What a little ***** throwing his teammates under the bus. Putz Yutz Lutz

Was just watching a highlights package and the thought that crossed my mind was: Boy did Stidham's net worth take a huge hit yesterday!

If he just takes the sack and if Payton doesn't expect him to make the 4th down and the Broncos manage to win then he's a SB QB who the Broncos are probably willing to trade for good draft capital, and he's probably gonna find a team that will give him Baker Mayfield money so something like $30m/year for at least 2 years. Instead, he's gonna get what his current contract is, $8m, and who knows, maybe the Broncos dump him now since they can't avoid the reality that he just isn't good when the pressure is on.

That finger tip block reminds of the blocked shot by Kevin McHale against the Sixers to send the C's to the finals.
I think Andrew Toney was the shooter. Toney was known as the Boston Strangler, for obvious on-court reasons.
Good ole' days in the NBA.

Ok, back to football. Yeah, I remember Leonard Taylor being mocked in the first round for a long time. He didn't have a great last year in Miami. I hope he finds his game here but we seem to be doing OK on the IDL so he'll have to impress to make the team if he's still here in August.

Why did he go undrafted then?

He's had so long to show to anyone that he can be a starting quarterback. He had a chance here, in Las Vegas, in Denver. But he's never gotten the full trust of his coach. I guess we can see why.

Good questions all. Injury? Lazy?

On a separate note: their seems to be confusion about his age. Some sites list his at 23 yo...others have him at 26. Contract implications.

Kinda like Baker Mayfield, except without the career uptick.

KM was the #Terminator.
Unstoppable, and tough as nails.
The 81 series against the Sixers may have been my favorite, I ran outside the house screaching.
Totally ridiculous.
I was 16.

Denver is pulling out every excuse in the book as to why they lost..
