Niners have had enough of Aiyuk

BS: Mike Vrabel is a Players HC: quit that BB Garbage take.
Pass. You can talk me into A.J. Brown for the right money/trade value, but this guy... nah. I don't think he's dramatically better than what's here.

FTR: Elliott Wolf liked Aiyuk a Mayo season ago: I'm just saying. I don't know if those feelings are still there; but I can only hope.

Climaxed.

16-3, in the AFCCG. I'm sure it's not the same. That's not to say they will stand pat, pun intended, at the WR position for 2026, but I believe they'll look to add the right guys. I don't think that guy is the "right" guy. I'm good with them drafting guys and adding to the group that way. I don't want guys that have shot their way out of town on their existing teams. No malcontent cast offs.

As you may be able to tell I'm a little obsessed with creating AI images lately. I'll try not to spam.
Nice job keep em coming.

ctpat: it's 50/50 risk/reward we have seen disgruntled players go to other places and ball out. The flip side: we have also seen some flame out. Brandon Aiyuk's age got me he will be 28 next season after skipping a year and a half. Aiyuk have been a really good player in this League: His numbers back it up. Drake Maye Needs to have nice shiny toys too.
But IS he a "shiny toy" at this point.

I believe that the Niners are eventually going to have to release him. At THAT point I would be interested to sit down and talk with him to see if there is common ground between his goals and ours. But giving up draft capital, even 4th or 5th rounders without the chance to have Vrabel talk with him add too much risk to this deal.

Too many other fish in the sea between FA and the draft as we look to improve our WR room through development and player acquisition. It looks like we have a QB who elevates his WR's. When looking at his passing #'s. you have to ask yourself. "how much better would those numbers have been if he had had a "true #1 WR,' or would the distribution of those yards have simply been different.

Lynch and the organization have had enough, Aiyuk is done in SF

Terms of the divorce have not been disclosed. I'm sure the Cult of Verticality will be all over this but even on a short money prove it deal I think the Pats should do their homework and double check it

No thanks, he's the opposite of the kind of player they want in their locker room.

That said, why not let him elevate a true WR1, like Brady with 2007 Moss? [Not a plug for Aiyuk, just the general idea of a clear WR1.]
Seems like Maye has shown that there's a tradeoff on efficiency when you have WRs taking up 150+ targets a season like Justin Jefferson or another "elite" WR getting @150 targets with a 60% completion rate for 84 catches

The Maye/McDaniels and their spread offense allows a guy like Diggs to pick up 85 catches - but on only 100 targets

That's 50% more targets for Jefferson than Diggs, but less catches. Meanwhile those 50 other targets are going to guys like Henderson, Stevenson, Hollins, etc. who, like Diggs, have a high catch rate, again in part because the ball IS spread.

So even though I was very concerned about Diggs' health and ability to be a deep threat and consistent WR before the season when I wanted to see them add a true elite WR, I'd MUCH rather see them continue to have an efficient, spread offense.

Brady's style was different than Maye - Maye seems to trust all his WRs whereas it was clear that if a receiver got into Brady's dog house, he just wasn't going to get the targets. Meanwhile Moss, Welker, Edelman etc certainly had Brady's confidence and would get @ 150 targets a season, but there was no mystery for DCs on where the ball was going most of the time.

For Maye and the Patriots, the fact that DCs never know where it's going in a spread offense and double team Diggs or anyone to their own detriment, makes today's offense much more effective in "must catch" situations.

Abandoning that for an outdated "give 300 targets to two WRs" doesn't strike me as a wise strategic move, and would really be a waste of a big salary at WR, making it potentially less efficient, not more.
