Will Campbell Watch

Will needs to be better, and he is the first guy to say it.
That doesn't mean he can't work at LT. I think this whole season showed he can. But, even Matt Light & Nate Solder got lit up in certain playoff games. Will-C hasn't faced anything near this level of DE yet. (especially the guys he practices against)
Give him some time. I think he'll be a pro-bowl bubble guy next year.

I just don't get. Khalil Mack is a future HoFer. Hunter and Anderson had phenomenal years and are All-Pros. Probably more of the same with Bonitto this Sunday, although Campbell seems to be struggling more with bull rushers and less with quickness. It is what it is.

They are in the AFCCG, and Campbell is a big part of why.

Once again, agree completely. I'm so ****ing tired of the morons who think every player should play at All Pro level on every snap. It's so ridiculous that people here have literally **** on every player on this team at one point or another this season, some of the clowns were even ****ting on Gonzalez a week or two ago. It just never ends, everybody sucks...........

Well... Gonzo doesn't have an INT. I wouldn't extend him, he sucks.

Any chance Will could get a set of fake nails and get back that third-inch? Is there a blue pill for your arms?

He probably can't do much to build his speed, though technique and experience in reading situations should help him with the speed stuff. If he needs better strength to deal with the bull rushes, that's something work in the weight room can genuinely help with. Good LT's tend to play for quite a few years: we are very early in Will's career.

But, even Matt Light & Nate Solder got lit up in certain playoff games.
Light only got lit up against the league's best. Weiss had to get creative and move pockets (Panthers Super Bowl) and go at the knees to slow down these guys. However, it didn't always work against guys like Jason Taylor and Matt Schoebel. Guys like Joey Porter and Dwight Freeney would expose Light once they got on an island in obvious passing downs. This went unnoticed because the Pats were overall a better team and Brady had elite pocket awareness.

Solder, on the hand, was regularly whiffing blocks and desperately trying to push guys just enough out of the way for Brady to do the rest. If anyone doesn't believe it, watch games against decent rushers or the big games. Once you see it, you can't unsee it. Had Brady not had god like awareness, he would've regularly been stripped sacked like Maye last Sunday.

If he struggled at home, how will he do when 78,000 people are screaming their heads off? There is the concern of false starts too (not just him but everyone).

He was overrated. His weaknesses were glaring on the Giants because the QB's did not have excellent pocket awareness like Brady.

I think Will isn't 100% healthy and has gotten into his own head a bit too. He is healthy enough to play, but his drop back isn't the same. But a lot of his issues are technique. He breaks technique and panics and tries to make up for it when its too late. He will be ok in the long run. He just needs to focus on technique.

Gonzo's arms are just too damned short. He'll never amount to anything.
Imagine if Boutte’s arms were a 1/3 inch shorter.

Does he make that TD catch?

Do the Texans rally and beat us?

It actually needs to end this week. Brown was visibly better the last few weeks. I've said it all season, and now finally "ball knowers" like Lazar and Barth are saying it. Brown is bigger and more fundamentally sound at LG right now - which is the only thing that matters. Wilson will be fine, he can grow and be in the mix next year.
I really think they messed up by starting Wilson last week. They had a perfect excuse to start Brown and then determine if they needed to make the switch to the rookie. But, now it's a bit sensitive, because it will look like "demoting", so they probably won't go back to Brown.
I don’t agree. Wilson is far more athletic. Some of these pressures have been on stunts where it’s more about recognition and coordination with the guys to your left and right. Brown is a good backup and good run blocker, we’re better off with Wilson for passing situations and hope that both he and Campbell are learning fast.

Maye needs to help also, he has to feel the pocket collapsing, he also cant hang onto the ball too long which he does. Brady was great for lots of reason but one thing his did best is not take a bad play, he would rather take a sack or throw it away. Maybe needs to learn this also. The entire O line needs to shore it up for Denver as Denver isn’t far off Houston.
Maye’s clock has definitely been the reason for a few of these fumbles. Just a beat too long.

Exactly. The Pats had no answer for Freeney. Anderson is an all time great, he’s just too young to get that accolade yet.

It's the same thing.

It's like they want it to happen, so they can complain that they didn't re-sign him, when he goes on elsewhere to have a hall of fame career.

Gonzalez has been playing at an all-pro level this playoffs. Campbell hasn't. He's on a bum knee, and will be making this 16th professional start this weekend. And he hasn't been nearly as bad as some people like to pretend he has.

(Jared Wilson on the other hand....woof.)

Fortunately Vrabel and Co. know Campbell is a franchise left tackle and will focus their attention elsewhere this offseason.

You mean he won’t listen to the expert wanna be GMs here?

If Campbell has a bad game Sunday, look for the media and posters to push for him to be a G during the off-season.
