Yeah, I don't think it's about money for a guy like Saleh. If you've had a taste of being able to make the decisions yourself, it's awfully hard to go back to following somebody else's orders you don't always agree with. And if your one shot as a HC was a failure, you don't want that to be your legacy.
This makes more sense than any of the other reasons I have heard. I still think he's got an uphill climb in Tennessee.

I don't get why guys who are dammed good coordinators take ****ty HC jobs. Titans, Cards, Browns and Jete are just lousy places to go. I get the $$ part, but he was rumored to be the highest paid DC, maybe the highest coordinator on both sides of the ball. It's not like he couldn't feed his family on what he was making.
They just want to run the show. Same as a worker wanting to be a VP/SVP/CEO.

To your point, these guys need to be more selective about going to these organizations with ****ty owners.

I think that was something BB guided his coordinators to do. Pick good owners/organizations to go to. Not bad ones.

Poor bastard. That franchise is rudderless.

I do think hes a good coach. In fairness if AR doesn't get hurt G1 2023 they have a real shot at the playoffs. Squealers got in at 10-7 that year.

Fairness with regard to a Jete season? Nope, can't do it!

I agree, it's hard to fathom. All I can say is maybe he found being DC after being HC boring. Or maybe he realizes the 49ers situation was not gonna set him up for success in the future. But man, working for ol' Amy is no joy ride and the Titans are gonna need a massive rebuild or two before they're good. At least they got that soft conference going for them.

Plus, if it's another swing and a miss, chances are he can always find another DC job.

Yet, still, it seems TEN must have been the only one asking since it's not a great situation.

Once he flames out this second time, he's a coordinator for life.

That's not the end of the world, though.

He already knows he can make good money as a DC.

Yet, gambling on TEN doesn't seem right.

It again leads me back to things must not be rosy looking forward at SF.

No loyalty. Salah runs back home to Daddy for year one and then bails on them.

Also, I thought Saleh would've learned his lesson on picking a bad franchise with no QB. Doesn't look like it.

And is he going to have any say in personnel or is it going to be a fight with the GM, like it usually is in Tennessee?

I don't have this automatic trust that Ward is a franchise QB like all TV idiots have since his senior year 1 year ago.
BUT, I do think Saleh & McDaniel could give Titans a sort of boost that Vrabel & JMD did here.
Except that Vrabel & JMD have won many championships, and those guys haven't any.

Ok, good. Still won't have to worry about the Titans.

He did not fail the Jets. The Jets failed him, as they do everybody: fans, players, coaches. I think he deserves a second chance. He seems like a decent enough guy, and the fad of assuming you need some offensive-minded whiz-kid surfer boy as HC is thankfully over.

Underwhelming addition as a coach... 18-33 at Jersey B and not much to work with in Tenn...

oh well
I'm pretty underwhelmed with most of the names I see out there for the coaching positions

I think Brian Flores deserves his shot somewhere, but outside of the big names no one thrills me, so I can see why another go around for a guy like Saleh makes sense.

The turnover has been crazy and not fully justified

Crazy to think that Mike Vrabel is now the grand poobah of the AFC East as the longest tenured coach in the division!

he is a free agent coach, is he not? think he gets serious consideration while that lawsuit is hanging over the head of the NFL? Not sure I would want the spectre of that around... but i guess he has an interview with the steelers for the HC position, so maybe it isn't the bugaboo i think it is...

Good point. Overall, I don't see how it will work.

Saleh seemed to be strong on defense, but never seemed to be on top of the offense. During his Jete years they never did what it took to fix OL, which was the team's biggest need.

I presume whatever personnel input he has will probably be to get defensive studs, because his scheme really depends on speed and quickness, especially in the front 4.

I mean, every scheme is better if you have elite athletes, but his scheme is to count on getting pressure with the front 4 and to play a lot of zone behind them to limit explosive plays.

His scheme is pretty static as opposed to BB which was much more geared towards taking away what the other team did well.

He looks for speed and athleticism more so than intelligence and versatility, and to get that without breaking the bank you need a lot of draft capital.

Hmm, maybe he should have interviewed with da Jete?
