Sneaky Darrell Taylor signing to practice squad

He spent two months on IR, and was recently activated from the IR list. Have to assume that in order to be reactivated from IR he has passed his physical and been found to be healthy enough to play. If that were not the case Houston would be on the hook for some grief under the CBA I think.
Yeah… I just think it’s a massive leap to go from the Texans practice squad to contributing to a playoff team this week. He’s on our practice squad, not the active roster.

Also who are you leaving inactive to take a look at this guy to see if he can actually play? And you think this is something to experiment with now… in the playoffs.

Teams have signed players from opposing teams the week before a game since forever… this is no different.

Sounds like a game day elevation to me.
His highlights are great, but who knows the rest of his snaps.
Although, if he is fully juiced and ready, I would absolutely exchange him for Landry in this game - who has looked completely washed since his injury. Or at least drop Swinson and bring up Taylor. I had hopes Swinson would be a factor, but doesn't even see the field.

Taylor is a productive vet, with experience, and a better edge rusher than what Landry, Jennings & Ponder have been providing.

I think it's telling that Vrabel tried to get him before he signed with the Texans. The Texans are flush with pass rushers and we are not. So someone who didn't make their team might not be the worst pass rusher available. It hurts us almost nothing to sign him to the practice squad and see what he looks like. If we think he can play some snaps on Sunday, great. If not, it doesn't hurt to keep him on the practice squad.

We are desperate for an inkling of pass rush without blitzing. Chaisson is adequate, never quits on a play. Landry's body just doesn't seem able to do it anymore. Jennings is like Chaisson, not as fast, better on setting the edge. Ponder is inexperienced, makes a flash play, another Chaisson that may improve next year. Swinson appears to be a non-factor. So I would say he could be a little better than our current staff. Hope he can contribute.

Landry looked pretty hobbled to me against the Chargers. Dude has been bothered by his knee for awhile it seems, given that Vrabel reached out to Taylor in FA makes me think that he feels there is something there (I freely admit that I am being very optimistic).

This ^ is literally why I told you he was here.

You suggested it was to play.

Are you using reverse psychology now?
