Maybe she goes to the police because some shyster lawyer tells her it’s the path to expanding a pay dispute into life changing wealth?

Kinda like the people who sue McDonald’s because their coffee is too hot…
The McDonald's coffee is too hot people went to the police?

Anyway, once again I have to say this, I'm really talking about the texter's motivations, not the chef's. The chef's motivations are irrelevant to what I'm referring to specifically.

We'll know more on Sunday if he's in the stadium.
Agreed. What a week. And I Love Barmore.. but. this is all we needed off field ****.. from our best players... dam..
Thank you so much for taking the time to go through this and explain it so clearly to all of us pretend-lawyers!

Both complaints against Barmore and Diggs filed on the exact same day (12/16) and both reported to the media within the past 24 hours but neither one happened recently - one on 12/04, one last August - and neither appear to have any evidence. Something is very fishy here
That’s one O player and one D player. Next we’re going to find out an ST gunner choked someone out in an Arby’s in Stoneham or something.

Et tu, Christian?

There are any number of serious issues raised by all this. Misogyny as a feature of the black subculture, as expressed in the music of that subculture. The pretty obviously superannuated assumption that "sports builds character." The proper role of team athletics in our (failed) education system. The actual standing of feminist values in contemporary mores. And so on.

It would be nice of we were living in an age where serious issues could be discussed in a serious manner, but alas we are not. Happy New Year indeed.
Uh, man, I was alive when misogyny was a part of every kind of music out there.

Music that was predominately made by men.

If you don't hear as much these days in mainstream music, it's because 95% of our pop stars are now women!

I was reminded of this when I watched Spinal Tap 2 the other night.

I remember when Missy Elliott came out with Work It and people basically were talking about how it reversed and pushed back against the misogyny in Hip Hop.

To say it only exists in one type of music or subculture is really too much.

To quote Brian Johnson, "I'm just giving the dog a bone."

The real question is is how many first rounders do we lose in the last two days?

I'm guessing about 6/7?

True, but not everyone calls their fellow travelers “knucklerdragging assholes”.

Although I assume that was meant to be “knuckledragging” lol.
Talk is cheap.

Knocking his woman to the ground.

And, she has photos of the bruises. CEL
And she doesn’t want to press charges. So presumably they’ve reconciled or are pursuing an amicable resolution. Of course that presumption could be wrong, she could be intimidated but that can be investigated and evaluated to determine which is true.

Question is, how should we balance punishment and redemption?

Is it better to make him a pariah, ostracize him so his life is destroyed by the consequences of his actions, then let him deal with that as he may?

Or is it better to help him learn to manage anger and emotions, to control himself and his violent urges, and support him in making amends and bettering himself?

Will tar and feathers really make things better?

It reads bad.

Law has decided that whatever happened is a misdemeanor.

Did hill when miss any games for destroying his sons leg?

The timeline is confusing. It happened in August, and apparently the team was aware at that time and made the league aware at that time as well. Since then, she did not file charges in following 4 months, and even said a few weeks ago that she will not press charges, but then weeks later, pressed charges anyway. I'm not sure why, but I don't know why the league would suddenly punish him NOW if they've been aware of it the entire time just because she finally decided to file paperwork on it now.

There is, at least, the potential for some level of evidence (a photo of bruising) for Barmore's situation. I am guessing the team will have him sit this week for an "unrelated" reason (the illness Vrabel claims he has) in a game that they probably would've sat him for anyway, talk to the league again, see what else comes out, and get things squared away.

Ultimately I don't think either guy misses time based on what we know so far.

The two incidents reported in the same 24 hours have already been published far and wide beyond the realms of the NFL and it has already tarnished the brand. I know places like Twitter are a cesspool but a lot of blue checks (some prominent people) are commenting on it. And the fact that Diggs has the Patriots support. As we know from Spygate and Deflategate, haters don't do nuance.
that's weird because all i've seen is twitter saying money grab but i don't do social media too much.

I had ESPN on for 2-3 hrs this early this morning sometimes watching or keeping it on as background noise while doing chores. So I at least heard all of Get Up and most of the first hour of First Take, and didn't hear a SINGLE reference to Diggs and his "situation".

So, there you have it. A national news story on one day, and not a whisper the next. By the time we get to the weekend, it will be a non-story. All the while THIS thread will grow from posts about arcane legal theory, to rants that denigrate the accuser, Diggs, or posters, and any combination of the above.

Have a Happy News Years Eve and raise an extended middle finger and all say an angry **** YOU to 2025 (except for the Pats season so far)

A "blue check" means nothing. It means less than nothing. I can buy a blue check for a few dollars right now.

I have seen nothing that she decided to press charges against Barmore. Everything I’ve seen says she declined to press charges as recently as early December, and the authorities (local PD? Prosecutor? ???) decided to proceed with charges anyway. I don’t know but I’m guessing it’s misdemeanor not felony because the commonwealth would have to get a grand jury to indict for a felony if the victim doesn’t press charges.

Agree that the league will likely not do anything until after any arraignment.
