I'm not sure she publicized this case - the local beat reporter could have (and should have) picked it up when routinely looking at the police log. But this would be a much easier thing for Diggs if it was kept a bit quieter - it is national news and I'm sure very unwanted by him. Bad for both parties.

I think the advantage to this being basically a business dispute is he can pay her off under that guise, not admitting anything criminally.

There are many windows of opportunity to settle this case, and the risks change as they pass. One window was at the court hearing that was just held, where I understand there were negotiations. The next will be at the arraignment. But she risks the DA reducing or dropping the charges, in which case her leverage diminishes. He risks more, damning evidence coming out. Maybe getting indicted by a grand jury. After that there will be motion hearings, jury selection, etc. , so plenty more opportunity for both parties to re-evaluate their cards. I just really can't see this case going that far, which is all the more reason to just admit that and settle it now.

The one wildcard is if he really did brutalize her and she really wants justice for that. Some things money can't buy. And if that's the case, he should be worried. All she needs is the jury to believe her and not him. If he's lying and she is not, he could be screwed. Juries are good at picking up on those things.

The league office will conduct its own internal investigation to determine whether Diggs should be suspended. This could include an interview with the accuser, so I'm wondering whatever the league does or doesn't do might be telltale re. where this thing is headed.

There’s no sugar coating this. It just sounds really bad. I know, have to go through the legal process, but I am so against anyone raising their hands to ANYONE, male or female. I just don’t feel good about this, and I think it ends poorly for the Pats.
Neither you, the patriots, or anyone else has any evidence whatsoever that Diggs raised his hands to anyone. I don't like the tone of your post; it comes near to making a false accusation. Maybe it's time for you to stop trying to be a white knight.

Exactly.

They are supposed to put him on that list while they investigate, but there’s nothing TO investigate. There’s zero evidence.
What if the Chef texted or called a friend and told them what just happened in Diggs home?

Would that not be evidence.

What? I don’t see how that’s much different, but if that existed, I would imagine it would have already been included.

This matter is still being investigated. Didn't the Chef agree to move forward with charges last week?

We have only seen the Chefs statements to Police.

But the chef already supplied multiple rounds of texts from different people including ones she “thinks” are from Diggs’ girlfriend. If she had texted a friend about the incident I would imagine that would have been included. Even so, that is still not very weighty evidence as you’d think she would’ve taken pictures at that time and she’s already confirmed she did not.

I know, but could that be enough for Goodell to act?

McCann identified the biggest threat to Diggs right now and that's Goodell and the CEL.

Source? AI? Deep fake?
So sharing a bit of legal information i got from someone I know in law enforcement.. my state..Massachusetts is a very progressive state especially with violence against women rightfully so...

from this person in law enforcement if a person went to law enforcement and simply stated someone owes me money and I want to dispute it.. it would not be handled by law enforcement they would be told under Massachusetts laws that if it's a money dispute you need to either

1. Contact an attorney and draft a 93a demand letter wich that person has 30 days to reply with a reasonable offer or face treble damages.

2. The person mentioned from thier experience often with domestic issues the "accuser" is coached to mention they were assaulted as it further legitimizes thier Disupute for money.

In summary this is a common thing in his experience. Once the allegations of violence gets added it puts pressure on the accused to settle. Again this isn't to minimize any woman who legitimately has been assaulted by a male. Wanted to share this with you from someone I know with 35 years as a detective.

As a fan, I hope he gets to play. As a citizen, I am not at all surprised at such events. One expects them, frankly. The old notion - always to a degree delusional - that "sports builds character" has become a pernicious lie. Organized athletics do no such thing, either at the pro or at the college level. I suppose encouraging toddlers to toss a beach ball around in a polite manner offers some benefit, but that's about it so far as team sports having any legitimate role in an educational setting. The silly charade that college players are "student athletes" is, certainly in the case of "major programs," surely revealed by now as nonsense. They are paid entertainers intended to amuse the actual students and to winkle a few dollars out of alumni seeking apparently to relive their glory years in adolescence. The entire affair us pathetic and frankly makes for me following my team a distinctly guilty pleasure.

Go Pats.

Once she didn't get paid she then moved forward with filing charges... 3 weeks later... if my sister or my daughter daughter was assaulted by a male would they wait nearly a month? Her attorney likely coached her up.. IMO

That is why I brought up texts or calls from the Chef to friends or associates after the alleged assault.

I rather be a white knight than being a blind knight. My post said I didn’t like the sound of this, I didn’t make any false accusations.

Let’s face it, most of these guys aren’t geniuses. They play a violent game, and they respond to situations in the same manner. Most don’t have the mental capacity to resolve things in an intelligent way. They resolve it violently. For example, what is McGinnest doing nowadays ? He went 20 years, his whole playing career and a decent amount of his off field career as a good citizen, but then blew up in a ridiculous way.

Why wouldn’t you want to be a knight that respects a person right to defend accusations against them and not pass judgment when you don’t know the facts?

You realize the Willie McGinest has absolutely nothing to with Stefan Diggs right?

So because McGinnest blew up, that means Steph Diggs assaulted this woman? Even though the evidence overwhelmingly demonstrates that he didn't assault her. No pictures, no marks, no hospitalization. No charges pressed for 3 weeks. The alleged victim crying about wanting money right in the policy report. The alleged victim having a motive to falsely accuse.

And yet, you want to ignore all logic, all common sense, all the evidence, and claim that Willie McGinnest shows that Steph Diggs is guilty.

Stop trying to be a white knight- your virtue signaling only makes you look bad.

Realistically speaking, this might be the thinnest "player violence" situation I've seen in the NFL yet. In almost every other scenario I can think of, there is an arrest, or some level of evidence - pictures of an injury, video of an altercation, witness testimony - SOMETHING. This is quite literally just one single person saying "many weeks ago, Diggs hurt me a bit, but it's all healed up by now, I didn't actually get any evidence of the injury and no one was around, and there's no video or photographic evidence of it either, also I want Diggs to pay me some money."

Any person, male or female, could make such a claim about any player in the entire league at any time. I hope the NFL realizes that it would set a very bad precedent to put Diggs on the Commissioner's Exempt List over such a claim, as it may create a bad situation in the future. Imagine a Super Bowl matchup, Bills vs. Seahawks - except uh oh, a random woman says Josh Allen choked her out 5 weeks ago. No evidence though. She happens to be a Seahawks fan but don't worry about that. Sorry Josh, you can't play in the Super Bowl, you're going on the CEL.

You can say a person would not do that as they could be facing charges for falsifying a police report, but at least as far as I am aware I don't think that is pursued all that often. Please let me know if I am wrong there, though. Either way, I hope my point gets across - with no evidence to go off of, it would be unwise for the NFL to punish the player at this time.

Diggs, ugh. Not going to say he’s a POS like that one dude as none of us know him, but he’s certainly an idiot. Whether you think “bad” or not, don’t be plain stupid.

Don’t leave home w/o the damn rubber. (Rest of the internet loves to remember his Vikings stay away from my sister video from ages ago)

Don’t let yourself get video-ed on coke boat.

I agree with the person who asked why the hell is he in this arrangement in the first place? What’s your damn agent making all that money for? They can’t refer him to an actual professional? Just begging for drama and issues when hes handling it himself, and supposedly wiring somebody money. Someone who sounds like they may not even have somewhere else to stay??? Why? How the hell can a person in that situation be your hire?

Grizzled vet doing all sorts of rookie **** still. Bad off field decision after bad off field decision by an on field leader and vet.

I just don’t see his drama worth it next season given age/extension. Goes w/o saying if he’s guilty, he’s a pos, but given what we’ve heard I’d guess this will be settled.
