Honestly, McVay might do just that, he's a 'rester'.
Actually check that just ran the playoff predictor, if the 49ers lose on Saturday they can be the 5 seed.

If the 49ers win on Saturday, the Rams have nothing to play for Sunday.

Man. If chargers can somehow pull off the miracle and Maye gets the first round bye it would be impossible to pass him over right?

I still think they do it. Stafford is the darling of the media. Always has been.

Tough to overlook that he's the reason they lost this game, against a team they really should have beaten.

A team Maye had already previously destroyed no less.

Stafford as slightly better numbers but given the talent he has vs Maye. The expectations of the Patriots vs the Rams.

I don't see how Stafford is more valuable.

The Patriots could easily by a 3 win team without Maye.

He's had a pretty poor last month, really.

Edit: They were the 1 seed, 4 weeks ago. "best team in the NFL".
He has been the medias go to for a while now. With Drake having such a massive game this week and Stafford having one of his worst, the media wont be able to ignore it.

Id expect the betting odds will show a major shift.

Pretty exciting to be able to talk MVP in Mayes 2nd season.

Updated odds on DraftKings after the game:

Drake -400

Stafford +300

Maye's got it. Nothing that can happen in the last week can erase thet fact that Maye threw fewer incompletions (2) than Stafford threw interceptions (3). That's how you win/lose MVP's. Regardless of whether the Pats make it through the end or not, the MVP will give Drake all the confidence in the world that he's the best, and yet he can still improve. Health permitting, the sky's the limit.

That's a hilarious way to look at it. More INT than he had incompletions.

Love to see how the media fan overlook that.

In the ultimate team sport, I don't understand why this seems so important to people. The stadium "MVP" chanting is silly, IMO. If Maye gets it, fine. If he doesn't, probably better for all concerned.
You don't understand why a player on the Patriots winning the highest award in the sport seems so important to people on a Patriots message board?

Stafford was also the reason they lost to the Panthers. 2 teams Maye beat and he was out of the game in the 4th against Panthers, only threw 17 passes and won by 30.

Their stats vs common defenses

Maye:
71.7% 1595 yards 12 TD 3 INT,
159 yards rushing, 1 TD
6-0

Stafford:
67.2% 1545 yards 14 TD 6 INT
4-2

I'm sure it would be well received. Just a personal opinion re. one guy being singled out when his success depends on so many others stepping up.
Teammates of the MVP take honor in it.
What you are saying amounts to a Patriot player would feel dissed that Maye got the award in a team game but would be cool with him getting second to Stafford, which is actually a bigger diss to the patriots players and organization.

Someone is getting singled out. I’d prefer to be my guy who I contributed to his success.

What a choke by Stafford. Your run game averages 5.5 per carry or so. Your special teams gives you a 10 point swing. You have 2 WRs who will possibly be in HOF some day mos (I know it is early for one but it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see him have that kind of career). And you fold up very mild pressure?

I think it's validation and also if he's winning MVPs with this group of players this early in his career then imagine what he can do when players start forcing their way to him due to the recognition that others see.

The award doesn't mean anything to anyone really except the person who has it and I'm sure that's great in the off-season but it's not gonna distract whatever person who wins that from performing in the playoffs.

Look at this Diddy from two bills MVP thread:

I’d give it to Puka or JSN before I gave it to Maye.

Stats, context, nuance, and situation all matter.

With how atrocious NE schedule was Shaduer Sanders or Joe Flacco would win 8 games for them minimum.

I’d vote for Trevor Lawrence or Caleb Williams over Maye.

Degree of difficulty matters.

Oh my.

McVay said LAR starters playing next week

Maye has MVP in the bag after that performance from Stafford in prime time.

How does this account for the historical accuracy?

Bill fans never bothered me and I even rooted for them during our **** years over KC because of my grandfather but the more success they had they more insufferable they became.

To act like that without even winning a title is wild.
