I'm disappointed but still optimistic. 2nd half offense has been a problem. Where was diggs? I can't recall seeing him in motion. Did we run screens? I think ultimately denver, texans or buffalo will knock us out of the playoffs if we don't get better in the 2nd half. I will complain about flags at key moments
It's easy to be upset from the second half debacle..however this is the same QB that is a primary reason we are even in this position this season.. I don't put this on drake.. his defense constantly had to defend short fields against an MVP at QB.. we've been on the other end of this with Brady for years.. the goal from here is winning the division, getting a home playoff game.. and remember we are the best road team in the NFL so going on the road is something they are battle tested on.. they needed a loss probably in this embarrassing fashion like to to sharpen them for the postseason run..

I hope we see Buffalo again, we’re the better team, players will come into the game pissed. I strongly believe this.
Agree..For some odd reason I kept saying to myself we may see Buffalo again...

I believe we got our loss out the way now.. Denver is on a similar run with 11 wins in a row..

This cannot happen moving forward..

Hurry back Spilly, Willy & Milly! We NEED y’all ASAP..

It would be great. Two exciting football games between the two teams so far, both comeback wins.

Who thought we’d be here, this far, this fast? Diggs is right: maybe they needed this loss to get better.

Really proud of this team.

A lot of doom and gloom here. 10 game win streaks are a rarity in the NFL. I'm not saying all is perfect in Patriot land, but no reason to loose our collective minds.
Agreed.. Denver is on the same run with 11... when do they drop a game again? We are a young team that's well coached with an excellent young QB.. we played the reigning NFL MVP and gave him opportunities to bring his team back..

I'm of the mind they NEEDED a loss in this fashion..

If we win against Baltimore do we win the division?
I don’t think so.

If Buffalo win out, we have to beat the Jets and Miami to win the division.

If we beat Baltimore and the Bills lose, I think we can clinch with a win against the Jets.

I did not read the game day thread, I imagine it was on fire going from the flying high in the sky to crash and burning. At least that's what the game looked like to me. This game I couldn't find a lot to get excited about other than Henderson, its a shame that his performance is attached to an L. The defense simply crumbled in the second half. I do think Williams and Spillane playing would have helped, how much I am not certain. Special teams had its issues as well, kick off unit was horrible. The offense came out on fire and then was simply snuffed out in the second half, we see which team made the better adjustments. Drake looked human during this game and still hasn't learned when to get out of the pocket. Disclaimer.....I still luv the kid and he is the future, they wouldn't be where they are without him. In the end the Pats simply snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory.

Moving forward we will get a dose of the same thing this Sunday. A mobile qb, a good running back and a good tight end. Will the Pats try to fix what went wrong, better question is can they fix it? The Ravens watched thats game and will certainly have a similar game plan as the 2nd half Bills.

A final thought.....This year Pats are over achievers, they are ahead of schedule. This is great for them looking towards next year because a culture is in place, a good group of coaches are in place, a talented qb is on the team and they will be coming off a winning season. If you build it they will come or so I have heard. We will add talent that we desperately need next year. They cannot scheme or coach there way through some glaring issues right now. They simply don't have the players on the roster today that they need to address their weaknesses. It's all good in my eyes, I dont have any expectations for the remainder of the season. I will simply enjoy watching our team play, with probably some yelling at the tv along the way. No matter how the rest of the season plays out, this year is a big fat W in my mind.

If Pats lose next week vs Baltimore. We can still win the east by beating Jets and Dolphins, even if Buffallo wins out cause will the better divisional record I believe.

This was also the biggest comeback a road team ever had at Gillette. It's not nothing either. Truth is this game is similar to a lot of what we've seen this year. Team is boom and bust.
The team is early in a rebuild from having been virtually destroyed by the two previous failed head coaches/GM's. We had declined to the worst team in the league by most measures. Of COURSE a team one year removed from that state is going to be "up and down." Nor is it rocket science to see what the problems are. They are obvious, and have been discussed here a thousand times. Recent talk of our being a full-on "Super Bowl contender" was the stuff of delusion,. Our progress this year has been remarkable, beyond as I say any reasonable expectation. Anybody who based their satisfaction this year on a Super Bowl appearance, let alone a win, set themselves up for disappointment, hence all the handwringing. I'm not wringing my hands, I'm applauding this year's accomplishments. Further successes this year are gravy. I'd be as thrilled as anybody if they were to win it all, but it ain't gonna happen, though we are well on our way to a situation where it really might, probably in a year or so.

Thanks for this. For some reason I had them winning the division if they won against Baltimore.. I like it. I want the rest of the season to essentially be all playoff esque games.. those jets and Miami games won't be easy..

Our ST was bad yesterday too..a bit surprising..

Great post! PF1645!

In theory they have put themselves in an very advantageous position. The focus now is even more sharpened. I also believe Denver is on a similar run we ilkke we were with 11 wins in a row.

Adversity is needed for a team like this. I believe they still are a contender with all their flaws.. they have the 2 elements a contender must have the HC and QB..

We were without some big pieces on Defense of course however so was Buffalo..

It's all good.. the future is bright for this team and I fully expect to have a ferocious pass rush next season..

I am disappointed in the offense because I think that our offense is better than our defense. I didn’t expect the defense to shutdown Allen but i expected the offense to do more in the 2nd half.

The defense should have played better no doubt about that but despite all that the game was still in reach. The defense still managed to get a stop at the end to give the ball back to the offense. The fact is that the offense had the ball TWO times after Buffalo made it 35-31 for a grand total of -2 yards on 7 plays. They didn’t even get a 1st down with the game on the line. You can’t blame the defense for that

They played a lot better in the second half. The defense had three missions. Stop Cooks run game, keep Allen in the pocket, don't let the TE's beat you. Did it in the first half, not in the second. Next week, stop Henry, keep Jackson in the pocket, don't let the TE's beat.
I don't disagree with any of this. Any team halfway through a rebuild from being bottom-of-the-barrel wreckage is gonna be inconsistent. Some here are like kids in the back of the car whining about how long it's taking to get to the amusement park. We're getting there: they should quit all the caterwauling and enjoy the ride.

I understand. I was disappointed too.. then I thought about last season 4-13 and quickly realized how fortunate we are to have Vrabel and Drake leading this team.

It's absolutely on the defensive side.. and STs.. you cannot give an MVP constant short fields.. 24 points is enough to win in the NFL especially when you're up 24-7

JMO offense could do more most definitely but they did enough STs and defense folded in the second half..

In theory they should have NEVER even been in the situation to begin with..
