Daniels: Vederian Lowe played much of 2024 with torn labrum

Maye is intact.

So, well enough.
He was probably my least liked player over the last 5 years. I was like an idiot screaming at the tv last year. I am certainly no talent evaluator, but I could not understand why he was kept. I read that the team last year asked him to do too much, and it looks like that was a good take. Servicable, which is more than I would have forseen

Lowe also played a majority of last year with a torn labrum. It was after he tore his labrum that he gave up the 5 sacks.

He seems to be serviceable. There were a couple of plays tonight that he was pushed back with a bull rush but, nothing glaring.

On a different note. Someone mentioned that there is a $5/game streaming plan from one of the services. You might want to look into that. Or, tazztv.io.

They also stacked to his left at times to help.
#Knuckledragger did ok, hardly ever saw/heard anything.
Thankfull.

There was one play where Maye seemed to be sacked because 2 guys came in, but he escaped (barely) and moved to the right and ended up throwing it away.. They didn't show a replay, but I think that one of the guys that came in free got passed Lowe. But I'm not 100%.

There was another play that Henderson showed he's still learning how to PassPro because he walked his guy over to Maye practically..

Let's give credit where it is due: this thread shouldn't die so soon. Verderian Lowe played very well last Game: credit to Him - Doug Marrone and the scheme. These Guys are really playing for Mike Vrabel: a sign that he's on the verge of becoming a Very Good HC.

I thought Lowe held up nicely on Monday night. There was that one play where he was credited for giving up a sack (might have been a rush for no gain by Maye) when he was anchoring down on the pash rush but then the DE suddenly stopped rushing to make the tackle as Maye was moving up in the pocket. It’s difficult to sustain a pass block in that scenario so Lowe really can’t be blamed for that. But besides that play, Lowe was pretty invisible which is a good thing for offensive linemen.

If he continues that level of play until Campbell returns, then the team, and more importantly Maye, will be just fine.

Side note : this is one of the parts that impresses me the most. Bunch of players - most of which are older than Maye - really seem to believe in him and they want to follow him.

He doesn’t seem like the yelling rah-rah type, but he tries, wants to win & makes plays. He’s humble - players must love that as well.

Yup and he throws absolutely no one under the bus.

If he continues that level of play Lowe will make himself a lot of money.

His rookie contract expires this year. He will bank decent coin from some team looking for LT help. He has overcome a lot of adversity to get to where he is now. He could’ve used his torn labrum as an excuse last season but didn’t talk about it, just buckled down and did his job the best he could. He’s certainly earning his payday.

Lowe’s backstory is impressive. By the time he graduated college after playing five years because of the COVID extension he was married with two sons and guardianship of his younger half brother. His mother raised him as a single mom, and passed away while he was in college. He chose not to enter the N?fL draft but instead returned to college for another year because he knew he wasn’t ready for the pros.

This post-draft interview by the Vikings gives a good example of his character:

Lowe is NOT on his rookie contract.

He was drafted in 2022.

Belichick traded for him in 2023, so, yeah, he's on his rookie contract (with an escalator raising his pay for this season).

Interesting. That link has him as a swing tackle playing both L and R sides. Since he’s been here seems he’s been exclusively playing on the left side. Useful to know that in the past he was seen as possibly having positional versatility. Thanks for posting that.

IF OL Coach Doug Marrone was the key to unlocking V-Lowe: could we see a future OL of (((drum roll))).

Lowe - Campbell - Wilson - Onwenu - M Moses/M Bryant

I think our Run Blocking would be vastly improved with that OL. Also Morgan Moses would be around for just another year. So a RT could be on the menu if they feel Marcus Bryant is not the answer.

Lowe may go from a player who so many fans here derided as horrendous, to a FA we hope we can keep but will have competition.

So, he had a 4 year contract and he has been on the 53 since was drafted? I thought that 6th rounders had 3 year contracts. I stand corrected.

In any case, he is an UFA and will have more than one suitor.

Getting a LT who can start when needed will not be an easy get. Of course, we could HOPE to extend Lowe.
