Daniels: Vederian Lowe played much of 2024 with torn labrum

One thing is for certain Vrabel isn't going to allow him to commit false starts like he was at an alarming rate last season. Lowe is a NFL veteran and he needs to be that.. he stands a shot at a nice contract for himself from a team should he be solid the rest of the regular season.
He’s about to cement his position in this league as a solid backup, or he’ll be gone.

His shelf life is expiring without showing he has value.

Lowe doesn’t give up a ton of sacks, but he reaches and grabs also… more flags are likely. Maybe Marrone can fix him a little, get him moving his feet. But he isn’t much of a run blocker either.

Best outcome he get by and they provide him some TE and Mac Hollins help on the left side. Worst case we’ll see Marcus Bryant sooner than later.
Probably Munford before Bryant. Although he’s new so might still be on the gameday inactive list for this one.

Are some here missing a humerus bone with regard to the lady part joke?
Hey, boning lady parts is no joking matter!

Kavon Thibiduaux, Dexter Lawrence, Brian Thomas,... when seeing lowe...

Two of them will not be playing so...

Why would a player they just snatched from the scrap heap get the call?

Because he plays LT and Bryant seems to be playing only RT.

Who else do we have with experience playing LT?

Let’s see if he sticks around, the Pats have been bringing guys in and moving them out on a weekly basis.

Marcus Bryant played LT in college, ideally you’d keep him on one side but if Lowe fails I suspect you’d want to start the better player.

I hope Bryant is getting some reps at LT in practice at least. If Lowe is starting, there needs to be a swing guy behind him who can play both sides.

Marcus Bryant played LT and RT in College. So he has experience doing both. You'd hope that Lowe and Bryant were both getting reps as the back-up LT.

It should be noted that, while Lowe was below average at LT, he was just as bad as Jacobs at RT. He just can't play the position well.. Matt Light mentioned that making the move isn't simple and not all players can do it..

The chances of getting a competent LT off of another team’s practice squad is low, and we know that.

Hoping Vrabel saw something encouraging about him when he was in Cleveland last year.

I think you’re being too harsh on Munford. He was drafted by McDaniels when he was with the Raiders in 2022, and started 18 games for them. Josh had him on our PS this year but he was good enough to get poached by the Browns back in September.

Yeah, that’s Munford I’m telling you. Josh already brought him in, and signed him to our PS at the beginning of the season. Then the Browns poached him, back in September. Josh just now brought him home again. From the Herald:
Now he reunites again with Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who coached him for two seasons on the Raiders. Munford started 18 games with the Raiders between 2022 and 2024, seeing time at both left and right tackle.
Munford is really just as experienced as Lowe. Munford has played in 46 games and started 18. Lowe has played in 38 games and started 21. Munford could beat out Lowe for LT playing time. Josh knows them both. Munford started for Josh in Vegas and was here on our PS earlier this season. He knows our system. Josh will play whichever one does the better job.

I think Bryant is staying on the right side because he is heir apparent when Morgan Moses retires. Now we have two good backup LTs with starting experience as well.

He’s big and has a wide wingspan, but just not a good athlete. We’ll see…

Isn’t that also what everyone has been saying about Lowe? And yet he is now presumed starting for Campbell.

I’ve never called Lowe “good,” I can’t speak for anyone else.

Well neither one makes your eyes pop out at their athleticism. I’m just hoping that whichever one plays gets coached up to transcend their limitations, just like the T Rex they are replacing.

Like I said earlier with Lowe, he’s really wide. Has good wingspan. He doesn’t give up a ton of sacks, but also grabs and reaches a lot… that can be improved upon. The run blocking is not good.

He’s only needed for four weeks presumably, with a bye that’s only 3 games. Provide him TE help on that side, let the FB and WR’s help. Hold the line.

Block the line.

No holding. Please!

I didn't get to see the game here in blacked out Kuwait... How did Lowe play?

About as well as he could have, I think. Josh schemed it up for him in the first half, 2nd half, they sort of left him to his own devices, and he was fine. Only big mistake that I can recall was letting off of a block on a QB draw on 3rd and 1. And even that wasn't egregious.

And no penalties.
