Block Function

That's not what happens when I do it.

I see this instead when I push it.
Click the red button, and then click out of it and open it back up, and see if the name is still there.

They do disappear.

I guess this was how the haters were popping in and out so easily.

Again, that function was only intended for extreme cases. So I would whittle that down to only the few people who absolutely irritate you and you 100% don't want to interact with.

LOL, that's still a long list. I would reserve it for people who have actually wronged you in some way, not those who might have simply said something you didn't like.

I went through threads and picked the guys who I don't want to see my content.

I get it - but again, I would save it for the people whom you truly can't stand. Not just people where you made the decision based off of a single post you saw that you didn't like.

@Ian

So why do blocked users get to see my content and even react to them?

If one poster blocks another but another poster is replying to both... hope that doesn't disrupt the space time continuum

There's something 'disrupted' here but from where I sit I doubt it's as complicated as the space time continuum. 99.99% of the current disturbance in The Schwartz can be traced directly to one poor lost soul being allowed to inflict his current unbalanced state on the rest of us. There's a point where patience and understanding becomes enabling. Most of us have a shared general concept of what constitutes being a good host and guest. Unfortunately 'most' is not all. We are all guests at this particular gathering place where our host has decided the disruptive guest's behavior is acceptable and the price of admission is tolerating it. The rest of us have to weigh our desire to hang out together against the risk the disruptive one's attention might be visited on us.

I can't fathom having the patience @Ian has displayed in all this. Knowing what it says about me I have to admit I am not possessed of a quarter of it. I suspect in the past few days alone he has invested all manner of effort looking for a way to disable the '@' function on a case by case basis, it has to be exhausting to be him.

The @ and notifications in general will get tied into the mute/block functions. I'll get that sorted at some point, but just haven't gotten there yet despite digging into it at various points this week.

I actually started working on my own forum software over the summer. As it is, it's not an easy process every time Xenforo releases an update because of all the modifications I've put in place. If their code changes (and it tends to in the areas where those are tied in), I have to first test everything to see if anything disappears/breaks, and then backtrack and rewrite everything to accommodate it because I've obviously customized such a significant part of it that goes well beyond just colors, etc.

Having my own will make that a little easier, and I've got a list of things that I'll be correcting/adding when that time comes. For now, I'll keep looking into that, and I'm sure I'll be able to modify theirs to fix this at some point.

It's ironic Xenforo's updates to those areas may well have been prompted by other forums having many of the same frustrations you have experienced and created your own workarounds for. As always I stand in awe of your patience, my testing it not withstanding
