Coaching hot seats

There must be a concern that the loss of money flowing to the drug dealers of south Florida would send the economy into recession. It’s the only way Mike McDaniel keeps his job. I swear he’s high every time I see him

I "think" the raiders got shut out by the best candidates because no qb... Pete was option B...
Wouldn't surprise me.

Worst QB/team in the division when everyone else is much better

Basically 12-13 road games per year (More Dallas fans the other night)

Terrible owner

I don't see a way out for them unless they hit on a generational type QB. Which is rare to find.

McDermott is the Dak Prescott of HC's. Definitely good enough to help a team into the postseason.

LaFleur in GB should probably be on the hot seat. Standards are high there and next year is probably his final chance to win/get to a SB.

Tomlin is an interesting case. I could see a "mutual parting of ways" instead of outright firing him.
If the Chiefs don’t make the playoffs and the Bills still don’t make the Super Bowl then McDermotts seat will become extremely hot.

If you sign a guy like Pete Carroll at 74, it seems you’re looking to make a push much sooner than later on the surface. It’s not a team built for that though. In which case, if the thought is atleast having him as a transition coach to get them to a certain competitive level, then can see him sticking around another year or two.

I feel like Gannon in AZ is the hottest seat. I don't see how they don't blow the whole thing up and start fresh. Even the core elements of that team are simply rotten. It's the exemplar of how talent alone at the skill positions isn't nearly enough.

When you look around the NFL, how many coaches do you see on TV and say "who"? Back in the day, coaches really had to pay their dues and make a name for themselves before getting the opportunity, but now coaches only need a pulse to get hired. It's quite sad which is another big reason the NFL has taken a nose dive. Watching Dan Campbell continually going for it on SNF was an embarrassment to their fans. The sad part is, there are no candidates you can think of currently in the NFL that would be good fit. That how bad it has gotten.

SB Nation has these guys on the hot seat:
Jonathan Gannon - Arizona He will get fired. Guys like this had no business even being hired.
Mike McDaniel - Dolphins How does he still have a job? He'll be gone by season's end.
Sean McDermott - Bills He is probably safe because there are no alternatives, but his time will eventually run out if Josh Allen asks for it.
Raheem Morris - Atlanta Another joke of a hire. I'd fired him.
Zac Taylor - Bengals He had his Cinderella moment, but Joe Burrow getting injured too much will get him fired. Also, awful GM.
Kevin Stefanski - Browns How in the world is this guy still a HC? This is why these bad coaches have 9 lives because there's nobody else available.

What do you think? Who is going and who gets to stay?

I think the problem is far more the type of owners that own the teams nowadays. 20 to 30 years ago, you had multi-generational family owners who grew up with their teams and had deep personal and historical ties. Nowadays you have soul-less billionaires that view these teams merely as a business asset, a diversification of their investment portfolios. As long as their team generates a return on investment, they don't give a **** how well their team is doing or what their record is.

As much as I like to check out the power rankings, playoff seedings and MVP odds, now's the time to speculate on which coaches are on the hot seat.

If Bills lose in the wildcard I believe Mc Dermott is out. McDaniel is out either way.. Morris is safe he just lost his starting QB, Zac Taylor is gone, Gannon Jacoby Brissett will get him fired.

Sanders may save stefanski..

Kyler Murray is a 5 - 10 foot Bust.

Gannon and the AZ GM inherited him and his awful contract. The way its going AZ will be in position to draft a QB in 2026 and absorb Murrays guaranteed 38 million cap hit and move on.

Not a fan of "soul-less billionaires", but Jim Irsay, Amy Adams, Mark Davis and Mike Brown have hardly been successful stewards of their franchises.

These four (Jim Irsay's dead, but it still applies to his kids) have something specific in common.

Yep, I kinda hope he winds up on the Jete. They're exactly the kind of team that would trade away the farm for someone like that...or so I hope.

Murray is the beneficiary of playing in a black hole of a media market. Once he plays under brighter lights, people will see what he is.

After last week's performance, it's not unreasonable to say Gannon has lost the locker room.

If ever there was a team that needs to blow it up and jettison everyone (except maybe MHJ), AZ is that team.

I think you nailed it on the media market. Bidwill, Gannon, Murray hell everyone in that disorganization would find life untenable in a lot of markets where the media scrutiny goes to 11. Instead the Bidwill Effect continues to thrive in the dark

Trey McBride is a superb young TE. The guys pounding he table for Kyle Pitts would be better off directing their efforts to McBride if there’s any chance he’s available

Matt Lafleur Green Bay and I really like Matt.

He can, but he'll also get raked over he coals nationally for paying 5 head coaches at the same time if they fire Carroll.
Raked over the coals by whom, his board of directors?

coach money is paid by owners

Maybe he can hire Gruden again and still be paying the same number of coaches.

The road to being an average team is to secure an average or average plus QB signed to a 4- year contract and build around him.

A top QB would be wasted. They probably would waste his talents for at least 3 years.
