A question on my mind virtually every day [Would BB draft Maye]

Or some skinny baseball player from Northern California who was pretty much a back up in college.

Even though some like to say that Rehbein picked Brady the credit goes to Belichick, as he's the one who made the final decision. Belichick did, in fact, pick the GOAT, and deserves the credit for that. However the make believe garbage that he would have picked Maye is total ********, as Belichick dissed him when the pick was made. Belichick deserves credit for decisions he made, but he deserves zero credit for Eliot Wolf choosing Drake Maye while Belichick dissed Maye.

No one's giving him credit just giving a counter argument to the yahoos who think there's zero chance he would have.

But I will disagree with the part he doesn't deserve credit for what his disciples do. Vrabel is a Bill guy, Josh is obviously his greatest disciple, and to a lesser extent the front office guys he left behind especially during the year they still used his grading system.

And I'm not trying to over play this it's just a tiny part of the conversation but a guys coaching/personnel tree is brought up quite often. Bill's tree isn't necessarily the best so when they do get some things right its only fair to add it to the list.

In talking about Maye during the McAfee draft show, Belichick called him the worst pocket passer of all the quarterbacks in the draft. While he said some complimentary things about him, he made more negative comments about Maye than any other player he commented on, by far. There is no reasonable argument that he would have selected him...
Either Belichick believed what he was saying, or he's a grudge-holding douchebag.

Either way... good riddance.

Please go back and watch the Belichick clip again. He said the same things about Drake at that time that we have all been saying last year, preseason and up until the Panthers game.

Grudge holding douchebag is the correct answer

See my previous post.
Regardless what and when he said that about Drake Maye
BB has evolved to a narcissistic egotistical douchebag

Bill would have absolutely taken Drake. He was the consensus best pick on the board at 3. To say otherwise is just hating.

Not to mention the scouts and personnel Bill left behind are the ones who took Drake while still using Bill's grading system.

Lastly the reason it's working so well right now is because of Bill's best disciple Josh McDaniels and Bill's preferred offense the Erhardt-Perkins system.
Yeah if anything Bill was a huge fan of taking the consensus pick at whatever position he was drafting.

This is 100% a trade down

Or people like to exaggerate things. There are more possibilities.

People say this because the Patriots were always picking in the last part of the first round. Every year, there are only a handful of blue-chippers. They are all gone by the latter part of the 1st round. The values where the Patriots pick are exactly the same as the values found throughout the second round. Same scores. This is why it's smart to trade in the back part of the first. So then you go and look at what Belichick did when he had a chance at a blue chipper.

Richard Seymour, Ty Warren, Nate Solder. Heck, when Vince Wilfork fell, we snagged him, and when Chandler Jones and Donte Hightower fell, we traded up to snag them.

It all has to do with values.

I don't know why we complain when the fact is, it's good to pick last in the 1st round. It makes the draft less interesting, but I'd trade 100 drafts for 1 Super Bowl victory. Heck, I'd trade them all for a AFC Championship

Going off the 20 years or so I this ink inevitably a #3 pick in Belichicks mind is just going to be too much of a contract issue if he’s any good.

And in total fairness there’s morning wrong by building the lines out first and then finding the perfect talent around them

I have seen it repeatedly, I don't need to see it again. Belichick NEVER would have drafted Drake Maye.

No chance and he basically said so on draft night.
