2026 1st - Arvell Reese
2026 1st - Caleb Downs

2027 1st - Julian Sayin
2027 1st - Jeremiah Smith
2027 1st - Jordan Seaton

I haven't put too much thought into it, but man I'd love to play around with three firsts in 2027.

1. Why on earth would you use the words fun and Jete in the same sentence? I mean, it should go like this: "Wouldn't it be fun if the Jete went 1-16?" See? Much better.
2. Why are you not spending at least one pick on Jeremiah Smith? I realize I probably took the cheese here, but 3 R1s?

Oops Love should read Smith. That's who I meant. Editing.

If I were the Jets:
2026 1st, 2026 1st, 2027 1st, 2027 1st, 2027 1st sent to Arizona for Kyler Murray.

2026 2nd sent to Cleveland for DeShaun Watson, to be backup.

Aaron Glenn given lifetime coaching contract.

No, that's not what you would do, that's what they'll actually do

I know you can't plan on taking Sayin in two years time, but you'd be pissed taking Mendoza only to have Sayin be there for you in '27 if he continues on his current trajectory.

Agreed, it's just very hard to predict, plus you'd be passing on a year of development.

QB evaluation is very hard, QB development even harder. The way I look at it, the Jets will whiff on at least 1, if not both, so why not start a year early, to get an early start on the next rebuild?

Remember all the "Tank for Tua/Trevor" hype? Neither worth it.

If you were the Jets GM, you'd get overruled by Woody Johnson who will insist on drafting someone he remembers seeing on ESPN's top ten this fall.

Sayin is the most accurate college qb I’ve ever seen. Every throw is just right on the money.

He is just a RS Freshman.

He is just a RS Freshman.
Which means he's eligible in '27 and would have two full seasons experience. no guarantee he comes out but it's certainly possible.

ESPNs Top Ten might have worked out great for the Pats in 2022 and 2024

The thing with the Jets is that they're drafting hasn't been too bad. It's their failure to get a QB that has screwed them over.

I think they have had some 1st round misses, or disappointments, on the OL too.

Everyone has misses.

The Jets have had 12 1st round picks in the past 9 years, 3 over expected. All but 1 (via yrade) were top-15 picks.

Overall, Quinnen Williams (2), Sauce Gardner (4), Armand Membou (7), Garrett Wilson (10) Ola Fashanu (11) and Jermaine Johnson (26) have not been failures, even if they have had some upside and downs.

Mekhi Becton (11, a player I liked) was a failure. Elijah Vera-Tucker (14) is a good player, but injury prone.

Jamal Adams was a huge reach at #6, but the team got 2 1sts for him. Will McDonald was a reach at #15

As for the QBs, Zach Wilson (2) was a mess. Sam Darnold (3) has flourished outside of NY.

The Jets also whiffed on 2nd round WRs like Elijah Moore (34, who I liked) and Denzel Mims. I don't think we're in a position to throw stones for 2nd round WR misses.

The Jets' drafting hasn't been bad, but they've had a massive amount of high picks. The big problem has been player development, coaching, and media hype.

You could probably put vintage Aaron Rodgers. Joe Thomas, Calvin Johnson and LaDanian Tomlinson on the Jets, and they'd still suck. The Jete would find a way to mess it up.

How nice it is that we're arguing over playoff seeding, while people are writing about an "epic battle" between NY and Cleveland over draft position.

Not even for 'fun' would I risk exposure to Jete Stank. It might only be a hypothetical version of it but still not worth the risk
