NFL Trade Deadline Discourse

Does anyone think Terrell Jennings performance on Sunday made the staff change their mind on adding an extra RB?

I got the impression they were looking for a depth type of guy anyways. Maybe he impressed enough to hold back.
Yeah, I kinda do. I think they wanted a guy who provided solid depth and could hunker down, run with power and get at least a couple yards each time. But then Jennings did that himself, so that wasn’t really a need anymore.

They were probably still in the market for an upgrade, but the upgrade would have needed to be substantial - and if it was, it would have been pricey. I’m guessing they made an offer for Breece, but the Jete didn’t want to. Otherwise not really a lot out there worth spending picks on that would have done a lot more than what Jennings can already do.

I think when Vrabel announced that they had found their 5 minute back (Jennings) and the locker room supported him, that they were unlikely to draft a high profile RB.

Jete off-season plan:

Plan A: trade three 1sts for Kyler
Plan B: trade up to first overall (if they don’t own the pick themselves) for Carson Beck
Plan C: they draft Beck in 2026 but he sucks, so they trade up to first overall again for another QB in 2027

No way, Woody wants to win now, he’ll spend all of those picks this offseason when the Cardinals make Kyler Murray available.
Kyler might be the worst contract ever, that boy is a ****ty punk.

Deshaun Watson says hold my beer.
How soon we forget Jamarcus Russell and Ryan Leaf. Or …what was that Jets “can’t miss” pass rusher back in the day before contracts were slotted who was AWFUL?

If the Jets ever do hit on a QB, they will wait through 3 years of development, then have 1-2 years of euphoria and hopes of becoming competitive, only to see him leave in FA.

Vernon Gholston.

I don't forget

That’s right!!!! Man that one was perplexing. Dude was built like a brick **** house but sucked.
Remember another former buckeye David Boston.
That boy was jacked, fell off a cliff quick.

Pretty crazy to think that the Jets have traded away the #3 pick in 2019 and the #4 pick from 2022 for what are likely to be lower picks in 2026 and 2027.

If history is any indication they'll be trading whoever they use those picks on for even lower picks in future drafts.

A bit OT to this thread, but I believe the NIL money and transfer portal has turned college football into a much more competitive system, with better player development and preparation for the NFL.

That's a boatload of early draft picks but Jets will find a way to screw it up somehow. That's what makes them the Jets.

He was good and then got too much into body building. Laron Landry was another.

I would have given up a 4th for Breece Hall but maybe the Jets didn't want to get embarrassed by their own former player for the next couple of years.

He was amazing. One torn patellar made him a shell of himself. Then another torn patellar sealed his ticket out of the league.

Unless the body building somehow caused both knee injuries, I don't see that as a cause for his decline.

I guess the biggest upside for the Pats today is that they will face the Jets twice without Sauce and Williams.
The BIGGEST upside is that the chances for a Butt Fumble-esque play by the rodents when they play the Pats has increased exponentially.

I’m with Reiss here. The big “miss” looks like Dre’Mont Jones, but he kind of echos the earlier report that the Titans may not have been interested in trading with the Pats. The Ravens also should value Jones more than the Pats. They have 12 sacks to the Pats’ 19, 5 from edge rushers to the Pats’ 12. The two players with a team-high 2 sacks are both on IR. Nobody healthy for them has more than 1.5.
