A win is a win, there are no style points in the NFL..
A lot of bumps in the road today, but at the end of the day nothing else matters except this W.
7-8 wins total was basically a common expectation for the team. They have 7 already. Cant complain about any win after what we’ve watched the past two or three years.

While I respect fans feeling differently, I'm seeing a decent amount of the pats aren't ready, this isn't their time, etc. posts. The pats are a good not great team from a roster perspective. So is everyone else in the AFC:

broncos - Nix, mediocre weapons
chargers - injuries, lack high end talent
ravens - injuries, bottom 5 DL
colts - daniel jones

The bills have zero all-pros on their roster, their best defensive player is on IR & they have the worst outside WRs in the NFL. The engine of their offense is the run game as they run it more than they pass. That plays into the pats hands and they already held them to 20 points at buffalo. Chaisson didn't play either.

First ballot HOF chris jones is not the same player this year. The chiefs defense is slow at the second level. Offensively, they are heavily reliant on rice & kelce. I would expect them to put davis on kelce & treat him like a WR. The pats could beat them especially if they can get the chiefs defense at home.

I don't think people realize that while the pats might not have a superbowl contending roster it's close to the rest of the contenders in the AFC. Homefield could be the difference & their win total is currently o11.5 -150 in vegas. Their superbowl window is open right now.
This is a completely fair mindset.
I don't agree, yet - but I can no longer make fun of people thinking this way.

Intentionally pissing away a 7-2 start when you can legitimately make the team better long-term is pretty crazy, and they won't have a schedule like this again for a long, long time.

Chism sucks as a kick returner.

I think it was Diggs who said, "we will go as far as Drake Maye takes us."

Barring injuries the rest of the team will hold up if they make a run.

Post more pats...

I think we can all agree that everything you've stated is pin point accurate summing up the AFC. Currently we are playing with house money.. as much believe and inspiration Vrabel has instilled in the team since he took over.. he likely didn't see that we'd be 7-2 this early.

What I'm going to focus on is how we perform Post bye..

Remember in 2021 we had a run like this and faded Post bye week that season.

Who would you say are your long term trade targets?

Exactly which Pop Warner football teams use AUDIO-based signals at ab AWAY GAME.
Share that joint please, it’s good ****.

It looks pretty obvious (to me anyway) that the qb was calling an alert and the center was still on the original snap count

Hopefully someone on here who has access to the all-22 will be able to diagnose what happened.

Tough to sneak a good young player from a bad team. That would be ideal.

Beyond that, a starter who fills an obvious hole, but isn't 35. A guard, a safety, a linebacker with speed, a depth corner. Something like that. A guard gives you flexibility to move Wilson back to his natural position, and Bradbury to the bench, or Onwenu to the bench.

Someone, I think @Bill Lee said 'the trade deadline always favors the sellers' and it's really true. The chances of getting a game changer are extremely low, and if you do, it's an overpay.

Trading a 3rd round pick for Jalen Phillips is a pretty big overpay for the Eagles, for example.

What would you trade for him? I like him and believe he could fit well here.
Depends on the cost, but sure we need depth at the edge and we need players there for the future.

This could be a 2001 style year where we are ascending but not really world beaters yet, but could get out of some tough games in the AFC and then it comes down to if we can punch above our weight in a Super Bowl.

This Bucs game will probably say a lot about where this team is.

He also had a game changing fumble where he was careless with the football and almost lost another fumble. Plus an Int and in the second half some noticable bad misses. That 66% is almost 10% worse then what he has been doing. It's not crazy to say he had a bad game, he did. The best part of Maye is even having a bad game we still won. Not that the pass was particularly difficult but it's good to see the coaching staff has faith in him to put the game away and seal the win even when he's been having a rough day.
He wasn’t “careless with the football”. He didn’t lose another fumble.
66% is worse than the highest number ever but higher than the league average. That’s not bad.
Of course they have faith in him, he has carried this team on his back. With an average Qb we are something like 3-6.

Yes! I keep seeing references to the weak schedule with the conclusion that the team isn’t as good as its record, so they shouldn’t commit too much to this season. But the opposite argument can be made: the schedule is an opportunity.

Sure, the team should be stronger next season, but so will the opposition they face. At this point, they have a legitimate shot at the #1 seed. That’s a path to the Super Bowl, flaws and all.

I don’t understand the playing with house money argument.
Every team is playing for the same thing. It sounds like you are saying moral victories are great if you weren’t good last year.

Being accused of cheating? We are so back

Cry me a river Penix and Morris. The play clock was running down it was less than two seconds left when that ball was snapped. Not like it was snapped with 10 seconds on the clock. No idea why Penix was not ready for it, was he going to get a delay of game penalty? The real issue was the right guard not reacting to the ball being snapped or Milton Williams moving on the snap. That was their second back up guard in the game and he played like it on that snap. Loser mentality to talk like this after a loss, this is why Morris might not survive the year. Be shocked if he is back next year, that is not a well coached team even though they played much better than I expected yesterday. Even with that, they were dominated in the first 3 quarters of that game. The game was only as close as it was due to turnovers and Boutte getting hurt. Really impacted the passing game.

Waddle is way better than Sanu. It's not even close. Also Sanu was damaged goods. I have no idea how he got a pass through the medical team inspection.
That's my point. The trade deadline is the time of the year where you typically overpay.

Even the bad teams don't want to give up good players just to see other teams use them successfully. That's something a GM knows a fan base will hold against them for a long time.

On the other side, the acquiring GM has their fan base banging on them to do something to 'not miss our opportunity' but those same fans will be *****ing and moaning next spring when the draft comes around and you gave up your 2nd for Mo Sanu.

For instance, da Jete are 1-7 and they know they will not be re-signing Breece Hall in the off season, but do you think the Jete GM will let him go for a late round pick to the Patriots? No bleeping way, IMO. It'd have to be a Mo Sanu situation where we give a 2nd to get back a guy who has a 'questionable' injury tag on him this week, and I think/hope we're smart enough to not do that.

At this point, they have a legitimate shot at the #1 seed. That’s a path to the Super Bowl, flaws and all.
There are a lot of posters that don't understand this.

No not at all.. the house money is just saying we are still a evolving team.. well coached.. with talented 2nd year QB who's taking the leap into greatness..

While all of this is definitely possible I truly don't think the organization as whole envisioned it to look like this so soon.

It's impressive.
