Miles Garrett is a legit possibility

I catch a couple JMU games every year. My contractor that does work for my company has a box suite. The stadium is awesome and its free food and drinks. I really enjoy catching their games and its only about 40 minute drive from my home

Sidenote....WR Elijah Sarratt played for JMU in 2023 and he is a stud. When coach Cignetti left JMU for Indiana Sarratt and many others followed (but the current JMU program is still strong). Sarratt will be in the draft next year and he is someone to keep an eye on.
That's so funny to me. When I was there, it was barely a HS stadium. Still the old astroturf as well.

Totally different these days. The school has invested a ton into the athletics department. Maybe when I catch the next game I will snap some photos and post.

Rumor has it that Howie Roseman is ready to offer three 1sts for Myles Garrett.

That would be stupid for the Browns. Those draft picks will all be between 25 and 32. I think the Browns would
have to offer Jalen Carter +2 first rounders

Possibly. There are still quite a few teams that couldn't afford Garrett on their cap despite the reduced rate you'd be getting him for.

We'll see. My guess is the Browns do nothing, because that's the most Browns thing to do.
My other question would be.. there an additional ownership group brought in as we all know. How does this factor in on some of these decisions??...

Like, less than a half percent chance that the Pats trade for Garrett, but just to dream - imagine him on one edge, Landry on the other, with Williams and Barmore in the middle, with Gonzalez, Davis, and Jones in the secondary and tackling machine Spillane roaming the middle of the field. You couldn't run on that group and it would be nearly impossible to throw on them except for quick screens or check downs.

On listening to the Pat Macafee show I learned some stuff that makes a solid case for the Pats trading for Garrett.

1. The Pats have a league leading 55MM and probably NEED to add cap to avoid being UNDER the cap floor

2. and probably the key fact to me, Garrett's cap number for the next 3 years start small and maximize to something just in the mid TWENTIES in 2028, and THEN explode to 2 years in the 50's starting in 29. Bottom line for the next 2 and a half years Miles Garrett is a real cap BARGAIN for the rest his prime (until he's 32).

An important aspect of any trade is that it affects us LONG TERM and 2.5 years is LT in the NFL. That is easily worth a #1 that will likely be in the mid 20's at best. I would gladly make that deal for the 2026 #1+ for Miles Garrett.

A key for me was a podcast I listened to which included a guy who used to evaluate for PFF who said what he saw when he watched Garrett vs the Pats, was the SAME effect he saw in EVERY game he watched Garrett, even in games he went sackless. The difference was Maye held on to the ball a bit longer than most QB's.

Think about the impact to the Defense that kind of pressure and effort would bring game to game until 2029, and then at that point you restructure if you want to keep him.

So I never really thought Garrett was even a possibility because of his contract, but that isn't an issue until 2029 and I'll likely be dead then, so what do I care.
Stop being a caulk tease.

Teams need to look out for certain players imo. Sanders, Calvin Johnson now Garrett. World class elite players stuck on crappy teams. At some point they need to come to the player and say, we thank you very much but now it's time to trade you to a contender so you can make finally get a ring.

Not enough teams do this, sometimes you need to save the player from himself.

Browns might not take it since the Eagles will likely be picking 29-32 for the foreseeable future. If a top ten team offers it, Garrett might not agree since it's probably a very bad team.

I'm just speculating though.

Uh.... that would be a no on the possibility front.

If you're picking in the top 10, you're not a very good team and probably need a QB or a major roster upgrade. That said, not sure a team picking that early should be trading for an almost 30 year player that might be past his prime by the time your team turns it around.

Although it could be posturing for trying to pry another 1st round pick to the mix, but Cleveland seems to be indicating Garrett will remain a Brown, whether he likes it or not.

I think a team would have to agree to take on Watson's remaining $92 million to make it happen!

I would take on Watson's contract in exchange for Garrett, but then would send them Zero draft pick compensation.

Hardest of passes. Even if it were just that and a 2028 7.

We can see how dominant Garrett is - but we can also see that the Pats D isn't awful and $40 mil a season invested in quality depth is not a bad way to spend that money while using draft picks elsewhere.

Just to be clear: I am not against trading for Garrett (though I highly, highly doubt it will happen). I am against any move that involves the Patriots paying the sex pest.

As one video put it, the NFL really isn't prepared for a Patriots team that is both good and likable, and taking on the sex pest would destroy the latter.

I'm not googling the history behind that...

That said, the NFL doesn't even want a likeable team. They prefer villains.

They had the chance with the 2000s Patriots, a bunch of scrappy underdogs with a workman-like mentality who overcame long odds to defeat the big bads of the league. But no, they want villains, so Spygate became a thing.

It's almost like they knew how to make the ChRefs insufferable. Promote the **** outta Travis Swift, make egregiously biased calls, and highlight the unlikeability of the team by publicizing their players' misdeeds and then not punishing them.

The problem with KC though is that Andy Reid doesn't give off the Darth vibe that BB did, so it's a bunch of doofs with a walrus for a coach being reffed into big games.

If we can get Myles Garrett for what now looks like a late 1st round pick, that would revolutionize this defense. I say why not?

But from what I'm reading, it looks like Cleveland does NOT want to trade him. So this feels unlikely to happen.

Most likely we need to continue building through the draft and free agency.

Right now a safety, RB, or rotation edge player feels more likely. For example the Dolphins might be selling off Jaelan Phillips. He's nowhere near a Garrett but he wouldn't cost nearly as much either.

Garrett would be a nice upgrade on defense but honestly we need those picks to keep building the team o-line. We still are not a good running team. Run game is important and I’d like to use that money for the o-line.
