Tom Brady is a PUD.

Never understood folks like Brady who have a really good pension, really good job(s) and need to do more to add to their wealth.. why kill yourself in the process??
I get why...someone so driven and focused on an aspect of their lives for so long only to stop that aspect leaves them with a big hole that they desperately want to fill to find purpose again. Some people handle it well they relax they focus on family and enjoying life. Some wealthy individuals like Buffet will work until they die because what they do defines them and gives them purpose. Someone so in love with football like Brady can never escape it. He will be involved in some way shape or form for the rest of his life.

Chud.

I imagine every father out there hates/hated that he has/had to work so much and misses/missed so much of their kids' childhood. I'm sure Brady is the same.

It bothers me so much that, to this day, I cannot stand Harry Chapin's "Cat's In The Cradle". Seriously, I change the channel whenever it comes on.

I get that he had to spend a fair amount of time away from his kids during his career, but once that ended he had all the time in the world and has chosen to use it furthering his celebrity and business interests. He was already way beyond set for life.

Children get in the way of making bank. Who knew?

Answer: Every rich guy that sends their kids to boarding school starting in kindergarten.
And then they end up with kids like the ones in Succession.

Most people don't want to sit around doing nothing. When you have been on the mountain top, it's pretty tough being on the bottom looking up. It does seem like he is doing too much, lots of opening businesses, advertising. Maybe stick to announcing and parenting and he would be okay. I wish him well in his adjustment.

I know it's Tom Brady, but I was uncomfortable when he kissed his son on the lips during the facebook story, and I'm uncomfortable with where his hand is in the article's family picture

It is personality make up. A fair amount of people who make it to the very top get there cause they don't like the idea of just chilling out on a beach for months on end. They need to do something, and typically do it well.
I would not surprise me at all to learn TB12 saw/is seeing a therapist.

He is a compulsive if there every was one.

And we have a new definition for a PUD.

You're the one making it about money.

He doesn't need money, and almost certainly at this point, his MONEY is earning more money than he is.

Almost all boarding schools typically start at middle school (11 or 12) or high school. My wife and I toured one in New Jersey with a rich friend from Thailand and his son, and I was blown away by the quality of the teachers and the resources they have. Just an amazing place. At times I felt like I was on the grounds of Hogwarts, except instead of quidditch this one had a pro-tier 9 hole golf course. His goal wasn't to get his kid out of the way: he wanted to provide the best education possible for his son.

So your take is that he should just up & retire at 47? Who retires at 47? No one I know. Most of the guys I know refuse to retire because work is all they know. I was able to retire at 61 and I had a ton of people ask me how I did it and how they could never do it themselves.

Retirement is not for everyone and I imagine a person like Brady, who spent decades in the limelight, would probably not have an easy time of it.

When you get a chance, give Lennon's "Watching The Wheels" a listen. He lays out what he went through when he tried taking time off. Celebrity doesn't have an off switch.
