Great comparison. Josh IMO is in a excellent spot few coaches ever get to be in. The football gods have led him back home.. his family is set and he's got generational wealth.. staying an OC would be best for him..McDaniels is fairly toxic as a Head Coach... two bites at the apple, both teams imploded during his tenure... Great OC, lousy HC...
I liken him to Steve Spagnuolo, KC's DC... you want him as your DC not as your HC...
something about him in New England... Meh everywhere else, but what he's selling? it works in New England for some reason... I ain't gonna complain... If he had stayed instead of going to Vegas, he'd probably be the head coach here right now...Great comparison. Josh IMO is in a excellent spot few coaches ever get to be in. I think there's probably something to how clearly both of the HCs of the Patriots have deferred to and supported Josh as OC. There never seemed to be any internal dissent or lack of buy in from the very top on down.something about him in New England... Well then HC here... meh.. OC absolutely without a doubt. Nothing wrong with experiencing in life.. but everyone has thier calling in life... OC is it for Josh.. we know Vrabel is going to compensate him and likely he's probably in an assistant coach role next to Vrabel now.something about him in New England... Spot on with the Spags reference.McDaniels is fairly toxic as a Head Coach... two bites at the apple, both teams imploded during his tenure... Great OC, lousy HC...
I liken him to Steve Spagnuolo, KC's DC... same thing, you want him as your DC not as your HC...
I don’t know I saw. Look of desire when he was Asked about HC aspirations.Josh said like 2 weeks ago during his media interview.. his family is very comfortable living in Westwood. Josh has generational wealth courtesy of the Broncos and LVR ownership. He should resist the temptation should it exist of being a HC again. He's likely going to be compensated well as an OC next season and he's a big part of Drakes development..

These would be awful jobs to walk into imo. I don't see a bright future for any of those organizations. All have terrible ownership, culture, and a history of losing.Teams will fall over to Hire McDaniels including Miami who would love to weaken us.
I see Miami, Tenn, Cleveland, Carolina, Giants all following over to hire McDaniels. A surprise and one he couldn’t turn down would be Bengals.
Don’t count out the Jets to fire Glenn after one season.
Being that the offensive coaches spend so much time together with each other and the players it's always going to be more of closeness in those relationship especially in the NFLDon't worry about losing Josh any time soon. Worry about losing Todd Downing who is quietly becoming very important to that WR room and doing a great job.
One of the more interesting takeaways I got from that clip was Josh's interactions with Vrabel. It is clear he is in total control of the offense. There isn't a single time where they get together to discuss anything even after TD's. I also noticed that any contact they DID have was more polite than cordial. Basically, a high or low five in passing. He had more intimate interaction with Boutte, Diggs and Spillane than he had with Mike. Granted it's a very small sample, and clearly they are working well together, but I just thought it was interesting to note.
The other thing I thought was worth noting was just how detailed good route running actually is. We saw it in one of QB breakdowns of Boutte's TD and see it again when Josh is will the Cleveland CB to "back off". And it was awesome to hear Boutte's interactions with Josh. Big difference between the 20 year old Boutte and the 23 year old one. Josh has a big fan in Boutte.
All terrible owners... absolutely how about David tepper didn't he throw something on a fan? Carolina owner. These would be awful jobs to walk into imo. I don't see a bright future for any of those organizations. All have terrible ownership, culture, and a history of losing.
The Bengals would be a great job if the owner fixed the D and OL.
Well said.. and he's conquering that feat.. as Drake is already ascending into a top 5 QB.. he still has more to achieve obviously but JM has done marvels with drakes development...A HC is responsible for all aspects of the team. ST, Offense, defense, 4th down decisions, direction to kick, OT decisions, who to bench, media, cuts. If HC (Vrabel) is defensive minded, he still needs to know offensive plays. When to tell the OC to run or pass late in the game. HC's work through 5 am sometimes. It's the toughest job in pro sports.
Longstory short, McDaniels isn’t fit for the role. Especially with NFL personalities etc. He is a great OC and helped Brady a lot (despite some other fans suggesting Brady could win with any random OC). His biggest responsibility now is to help Maye become a top tier QB. I don't think he wants to leave and have Maye deal with another OC. The offense would be screwed.
This is the biggest takeaway for me. How much they are leaning on Diggs to be a leader on that ofense. And it seems like he is embracing it. Awesome to see, great clip.Diggs also looks great here. He seems to have a great relationship with McDaniels as well and McDaniels seems to lean on him as a leader quite a bit. The line at about two-thirds in from Diggs - “let’s go break their will” - cold.
One thing that caught my attention is that he showcases constant respect for Vrabel on the sideline. Always refers to him as SIR. The players are surely taking note. This is not a team with multiple coaching personalities competing for attention. Despite the fact that there are multiple ex-HCs on the staff, they've let it be known that Vrabel is the authority deserving of supreme respect from not only players, but coaches as well.I think there's probably something to how clearly both of the HCs of the Patriots have deferred to and supported Josh as OC. There never seemed to be any internal dissent or lack of buy in from the very top on down.
And if you're an up and comer QB, to have Tom Brady's OC coaching you... that's got to feel like such a gift.
I like the Catalan/Davis/McCourty booth.Don't worry.. we'll be getting some Jim Nance announced games soon...

That and they've known each other for over 20 years at this point.I think there's a certain amount of humor in that. His previous boss here was almost 30 years his senior. Vrabel is about 30 weeks older.
Call crazy I actually liked the Nance/Sims commentator team. Romo can get a bit tiresome.. Charles Davis is good. Actually do like Jason's commentary as well. The McCourty twins are excellent in media.I like the Catalan/Davis/McCourty booth.
It's a nice sweetspot of inoffensive, unbiased announcing. Jason's aware enough of his biases that he doesn't glaze he Patriots during broadcasts and it's nice. Davis is a good color guy, like a grandpa teaching his grandkid about the basics of football. Catalan does unbiased, straightforward play by play, and knows when to lay out and let the other two talk.
I am not looking forward to Romo and Nantz, or worse, the return of 'Voice of the Jets' Ian Eagle.
