True, but if he thought he had a good chance of getting significantly more as a FA, why would he take this deal instead?
Injury risk affecting time value of money
He likes it here, enjoys his role
Knows the locker room chemistry

Also: looks very likely his pay will be supplemented with playoff checks for duration of his contract.

He knows the upside this team has. Players want to play for a contender. Why would he want to leave one?

Let's say we don't agree , he still needs to play the 4th year contract on rookie deal and there is a risk of injury too and that derailing the big contract .

Boutte is not jameson williams . I think we should be able to get him for 15-16 million average a year with incentives to bring it to 18 or 19 million . Since he is young.

4 years / 78 million / 40 million gtd. 4th year will still be on rookie contract .

It's still really too much, if we someday want to bring in a real #1 like AJ Brown, when one becomes available.

Jameson Williams is a True X-WR Former First Rounder he's worth it. Teams usually give their young WR's a Second Contract. We made that mistake with Jacobi Meyers....Juju was really good for us.

Right Jameson Wlliams is almost at 27 million a year.

Good WR1 are not available. It took us almost 2 years to find someone to replace meyers.

Boutte is like edelman from a reliability and production standpoint. 15-17 million a year for him should be good .

I think they should do 5 years 60 million with 45 million guaranteed which is nothing but 5 million for 4th year and 55 million for next 4 years .

Number is big for someone who has not seen anything more than a million a year and it also saves us 4-6 million a year which can be used for other depth players.

Good WR1 are not available.

They are available if you don't have Brissett/Zappe as your QB's.

AJ Brown will likely be available this off season and Olave might be available now.

15 million is different than 19. 3 years 45 million ok, but 3 for 57 seems like it handcuffs you.

I'm pretty sure Wolf is the person negotiating contracts for the Patriots. I think Vrabel and Cowden weigh in on the parameters, but Wolf negotiates the deals and signs them.
If Wolf is negotiating the contract I’m sure Vrabel and Cowden are informing Wolf to go ahead and resign him, let us review the details before presenting it.

I agree. I think they are all involved in the discussions and setting the parameters of deals, but Wolf does the actual negotiating with the agents. The same goes for the trades they just made, Wolf isn't operating in a vacuum, they discuss it, he sees what he can get, but Vrabel has final say on everything. Streicher appears to be in the Ernie Adams role, but I have yet to see anything as to what Cowden is doing, but I'm sure it's significant.

Love everything we’re doing (far cry from hating everything last year lol). Hopefully a sign that more of our guys will be less interested in waiting to test the market and more excited to lock up more years in New England. Gotta be looking far more attractive to FAs as well. LFG.

good move. He's a decent corner and has big play ST ability. Also seems like a real good chemistry piece.
I’m not a big stats guy, especially those new fangled stats, but apparently, according those fancy metrics, he’s more than a decent corner. He’s actually highly rated.

He’s a great corner for covering little guys, little guys in the slot need covering too. There’s a tool for every job.

Myles Garrett says don’t forget me! Lots of money, lots of performance on the field, lots of losses on the scoreboard.
Myles Garrett is a good Joe Thomas example, but the reason I pointed out Aiyuk is because he was injury right after he got paid. This was because he was out of shape when he showed up.

Finally, a draft pick gets a second contract!!!

Good job by Wolf getting Jones signed.

2020 - dugger (ex-pats) and onwenu
2021 - barmore, rham
2022 - Marcus Jones
2023 - Boutte, Gonzo , Pop*,Baringer*
2024 - Maye
2025 - hopefully everyone

****ing love this extension. Says a couple of things. First, he loves being here. Two, he took less than he might have on the open market. Both of those things mean a ton to the team and the organization. Kinda like how it used to be.

Special teams ace and excellent Nickelback. The guy really likes the end zone btw. Worth probably twice his contract. Directly impacted at least 2 Ws so far this year probably more.
