2026 Draft: Running Backs

Jadarian Price is so good. He doesn't have elite top end speed but his burst and vision through the hole and his vision when in the defensive backfield is awesome.

Not from today but this is what I mean

I was watching Jonathan Taylor yesterday and found myself thinking wistfully about Jadarian Price. He’s not as big and certainly not as fast but his vision and open field running is similar. It was good to see Treveyon finally have the type of game he was drafted for so perhaps Price is redundant but I’m increasingly fine with the idea of taking Price in the 2nd round. Wouldn’t be my first choice but working his way up there.

What are the skill differences with Price and Love? I haven't seen their games.

Love is more rounded and I think a better athlete. Price has excellent vision, both between the lines but especially so in open field .

Love is the no 1 back, I’ve yet to see Price do much in the passing game, but as a KR he’s excellent.

A bit harsh. The OP was written well before Rhamondre’s fumbles and Treveyon’s struggles
If BPA R1 is a three down back, I will be screaming at the TV to take him with the 32nd pick. See what I did there?

Give me Eli Heidenreich! That's my guy for this year! I would draft him over a ton of other higher rank backs. In fact, put him on my binky list!
Eli Heidenreich, Navy, 6-0, 203lbs

So I did a little research on Heidenreich. Discalimer. I have no idea how athletic he is although he looks fairly fast on the limited clips I've seen.

But here's the good stuff.

He's a RB/WR who leans more towards the WR element.

Rushing - 141 career carries for 1,000 yards. Only 1 fumble in his freshman year.

Receiving - He has 31 receptions for 575 yards this year with an elite receiving grade of 93.5. His average per reception is 18.5 which is smack on his career average. He's had 2 career drops both in his freshman year again but zero drops last year and zero drops this year. This year he has an 85.7% contested catch percentage.

Blocking - He has a 78.2 run blocking grade this year but is barely used in pass pro. Just on two snaps this year.

He's another of those guys who just does everything right whether it comes to fumbles or drops. Mr reliable.

I don't think he's draftable unless it's very late and he's probably just a PS guy but he is the type of guy you want on your roster. Unfortunately we have Lan Larison and I wonder if there's be too much overlap.

Against Air Force this year, he went off for 8 receptions for 243 yards and 3 TDs. You can see his receptions below.

That first catch! I also love the physicality on that 2nd catch.

My first thought when seeing a clip of him was "ooh! James Develin". Sadly he's not big enough for that.

There was a tweet recently of prospects who regional scouts had identified as making a name for themselves this year and there were a few names I didn’t recognise that were probably worthy of examination. This guy was one of them.

Dual purpose threat. He needs studying.

Emmett Johnson, Nebraska, 5-11, 200lbs
He's only a junior so may not come out.

Firstly, he really needs to work on his pass blocking. Has a 48 grade this year but had an 8 (!) grade last year.

He's 2nd in rush yardage this season along with second most runs above 10 yards, both behind someone from Jacksonville State. However his yards after contact per attempt isn't that high either.

His tape is fun (see below), but there's too many negatives for me to get excited about him.
