Stanley Morgan Advances in Hall of Fame Voting, Spotlight Returns to Patriots Legend

Patriots great Stanley Morgan has advanced in the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Seniors category voting for the Class of 2026.

I would love to see Stanley Morgan get in he deserves it.

Considering not just what he did but when he did it, The Steamer should already be enshrined, it's a damn travesty that he isn't

A factoid that I did some math to figure out:

The six quarterbacks who used to start games for the two New York City franchises but who have played for other teams this year have combined for a 19-14 record, going 630 for 954 for 6955 years and a 92.7 rating, which would be 16th amongst starters with at least 4 starts. 50TDs vs 28 INTs. The 7.3 Yards per attempt would be tied for 14th in the league.

And that includes Geno Smith's crappy year, Joe Flacco playing for two teams, and the 8 garbage time passes that Zach Wilson has thrown for Miami for the sake of completeness.

I’m kind of surprised the Giants didn’t just fire Daboll for this, considering Mara is on the health committee and I assumed they were thisclose to getting rid of Daboll anyway.

The NFL fined the Giants $200,000 for violating concussion protocol during their Week 6 win over the Eagles. Separately, Giants coach Brian Daboll was fined $100,000 and running back Cam Skattebo was also fined $15,000.

The main reason I try to make that distinction is within the context of: should a team really shell out a massive contract for a QB of that caliber? They cost you cap space. They cost you draft position because they are decent and don't lose games for you. A lot gets tied up in contracts like that. Now, this is a speculated contract, but for the sake of discussion, it ain't the first time a team has teetered on the edge of making such a decision.

If you are the team executives, losing games gets you fired. It might be the right strategy long term, but unless you are have a very patient owner and fan base, all you are doing by not winning is getting better draft picks for your successors.

Two interesting cases with regard to a QB that will lose games for you:
1) Cam Newton in New England: Cam sucked, but Bob and the fan base saw it as a rebuild, Bill's job was safe
2) Justin Fields in New York: He sucks, he could easily get the coach and the GM fired.

Right. I don’t think it’s a guaranteed strategy. Darnold didn’t help anyone save their job in Carolina, but made O’Connell look like a genius in Minnesota.

This is what made Drew Brees special/unique. At 6 feet tall, to put up hall of fame numbers was crazy.
NFL players are so big now, hard for a small QB to see the middle of the field. Brees used to stand on his tip toes on some throws and admittedly threw the ball to a spot on some plays because he couldn't see the receiver but assumed he'd be where he was supposed to be. Guy was a once in a lifetime. One of the outliers.

So many of these young, undersized QBs have shoulder height release points.
Kyler Murray is both midget and shoulder thrower....aka...a 5' vertical release point....and a mind-numbing #1 draft pick
