I have never believed the story that Belichick was going to trade Brady to San Francisco. Lynch came out and said he called Belichick and asked about Brady and Belichick laughed at him.

Why would anyone believe Lynch could have told the truth when answering that question when asked? Like he could have answered -Yes, 49er fans we thought we were trading for the hometown GOAT but had to settle for Garappolo once that meddling meddler Kraft stepped in to stop us from doing so.

The only reason anyone would take Lynch’s press conference answer as the gospel truth is because they want to accept it as such.

Here's the thing, he dragged out Jimmy's trade as late as he could when the value wouldn't be that high. Which leads me to believe he was considering the idea and there was no world where Jimmy and Brady were both getting paid at the same time. So maybe it was never serious, but it had to be a consideration. The time to trade Jimmy if you were rolling with Brady was much earlier.

And if Kraft knew and had wanted to he could have leaked that at any time to make Belichick look bad. He could have put it in " Dynasty" saying that " Bill wanted to get rid of Tom years ago and I had to stop him."

TB was in his late 30's, BB thought he could win with Jimmy and was going to trade TB for a boatload of picks. It wasn't vindictiveness, just following his philosophy of trading a player a year early. Bob Kraft let personal feelings get in the way and backed TB. The beginning of the end. Who knows what would have happened. We all got some more great football and some of the greatest games. I will always be a BB/TB guy.

I just don't understand why anyone who is a fan of the current team would care about what the coach that was fired 2 coaches ago, nearly 2 calendar years ago now, that Kraft fired his buddy a decade ago.

That's high school gossip drama ****, and moreover, about **** that does not matter to anything in the slightest regarding the current team.

People make movies about everything. Especially nostalgia baiting. Usually they flop.

Bill and Tom were part of the greatest 20 years that any NYFL team has ever had. I'll be talking about it and reading about it until the day I die.

Hopefully fans will have the same feelings about Vrabel and Maye long after their gone.

Speaking of movies... I watched a fairly old Richard Gere movie yesterday that was real entertaining and true. Hachi: A Dog's Tale.

TB was in his late 30's, BB thought he could win with Jimmy and was going to trade TB for a boatload of picks. It wasn't vindictiveness, just following his philosophy of trading a player a year early. Bob Kraft let personal feelings get in the way and backed TB. The beginning of the end. Who knows what would have happened. We all got some more great football and some of the greatest games. I will always be a BB/TB guy.

I am also a BB+TB guy, but clearly once Tom decided to move on Bill had lots of opportunities to show he was a GOAT GM and coach and came up really short quite often. That continues to this day, IMO.

It's pretty clear whatever he was putting on the table was no longer of interest to the NFL after he left here.

Instead Fat Mike shopped around the "33rd NFL Team" flim-flam story till they found a CFB team desperate enough to buy in.

Now UNC has a program that is a national laughing stock yet are in so deep financially and contractually that they have no choice but let things run their course.

He's turned the narrative from one of greatness to one of dodginess in a remarkably short period of time.

Torre asks NFL executives that very question why they didn’t hire Bill. The answer was they didn’t trust who Bill would bring into the building with him. There we have it. And I think the UNC experience has vindicated them completely. Imagine Bunny roaming around an NFL sideline. We all knew Bill values loyalty over anything else and that’s been to his detriment.

Also no question Bill was deeply affected when Brady left and won a SB. I remember Linda clapping back at fans chirping Bill on social media. And that wasn’t organic…

You didnt ask why we needed a separate thread. So your post either in this thread or another one would still be the same sentiment.

Unfortunately Kraft didnt follow that same philosophy with Bill. He let Bill be the HC and GM of the Patriots a year too long instead of a year too early.

Fortunately we got Vrabel righting that wrong now.
