He is maybe 6 foot but probably shorter, he is already 24.

Not a very strong arm, he is more of a backyard football kinda guy. He is not actually someone the Pats should draft, but dude has won me over by his grittiness. He has worked as a lead blocker multiple times on reverses.

He just led Vandy to a win over LSU.

My comp is a lesser Spencer Rattler

Yea, once I start to seriously scout and put my big board together Pavia won't be on it, but he is a lot of fun to watch. I really do not want the Pats to draft him

Any QB they draft late doesn't have a chance of beating Maye out for the starting job. It would be for backup only.

Is this serious?

No QB drafted in any round of the 2026 draft - or any draft in the foreseeable future - has a snowball's chance in hell of beating Maye out for the starting job.

Dobbs and DeVito are serviceable - no one will replace Maye for long. So the only reason to draft a QB would be (1) to upgrade the backup position, or (2) for Josh to develop into a traceable asset.

Not a need, but I'm open to the possibility of the right player falls. I would probably not even consider it before the 5th/6th round, given other needs.

That's what I'm saying.

They SHOULD NOT draft a QB in the first two rounds. Third round is highest they should go.

The Athletic article you sent around the other day about developing QBs was really eye opening for me. Noted how Matt Hasselback was the first backup QB to Brett Favre that had less experience than Favre, and that was in Favre’s 8th year in the league.

Got me thinking that Brady wasn’t the most experienced QB in the locker room until 2007. Prior to that we had Bledsoe, Damon Huard, Jim Miller, Doug Flutie, and Vinny Testeverde.

Based on what I learned from that, I don’t think we should spend a high pick on a QB at all, and instead let Maye keep learning from the veterans behind him. Whether that’s Dobbs or someone else. I view DeVito as being more of a peer, since he only has one more year in the league. If they want to spend a 6th or a 7th on a flyer that might eventually be the primary backup, sure.

I'm not averse to an opportunity. Drew Allar intrigues me. He had 1st round potential, and showed flashes, but could never consistently put it together. Then had a major leg injury. If he drops to the 6th round or later, I would love to see what Josh coukd do with him, possibly turn him into a traceable asset in 2-3 years.

I do like that idea although I probably agree with @Hammer of Thor about having a vet as the backup. Having said all that, there is only one QB in this draft that really interests me.

King is not a high volume passer in that Georgia Tech offense but one thing I've just noticed is that he's thrown zero turnover worthy passes this year and only had three all last year. And you can't tell me his playing style isn't reminiscent of Drake. He's not the same passer obvioulsy, although he's not bad, but very similar as a runner. Character is through the roof too.

Between Simpson and Mendoza for me. Neither Drake Maye, but I'd take either over Cam Ward, Caleb Williams or Jayden Daniels as a pro-style QB to build on.

I think Mendoza and Simpson will be 1a and 1b in this draft, both pro-style QBs, likely top 10 picks.

I think neither Dante Moore nor LaNorris Sellers is ready, bit both ooze talent and potential. Moore could go back to Oregon. Sellers might benefit from the transfer portal. But if they declare, they will both likely go top 20 in a QB desperate league.

After that, it's wide open. Both the media and the NFL appear to have trouble evaluating QBs. As of right now, Garrett Nussmeier, Carson Beck and Drew Allar all look like false hope/hype to me, none deserving anything close to their hype status. Arch Manning and Cade Klubnik are on an even worse level.

John Mateer is an enigma right now.

But there are some really exciting players who are still under the radar, and who could make a serious run:

- Brendan Sorsby, Cincinnati
- Jordan Maiava, USC
- Taylen Green, Arkansas
- Sam Leavitt, Arizona St.
- Aiden Chiles, Michigan St.

Curious to see how these guys develop. The more, the merrier.
