The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

No, he can continue to improve the team, and return next year and be competitive.
It appears that UNC leadership has decided they are in too deep and have no choice but put up with the circus.

It appears Bill has weathered the storm, for now at least.

Yet pretty much no one except the cultists expects them to be competitive next year because the most talented kids get lots of offers and their parents won't send them to the circus when there are much better programs out there for them to join.

Personally I wouldn't be surprised to see either side decide to end things in the off-season, either because the administration doesn't like what they are seeing or Bill's side realizes that they're going to suck again and don't want to put up with it.

Apparently Cal also mocked JorDON's web site design skills, LOL!

Cal also put up a scoreboard graphic mocking the newest scandal around the couple. An episode of the “Pablo Torre Finds Out” podcast released Friday unveiled leaked footage of Hudson thoroughly criticizing the graphics on a Belichick-centered show, saying she could make the graphics herself. Hudson also cited her own work designing Belichick’s official website, which originally misspelled the coach’s name as “Belichickk.com.”

When the game was nearly over, the Cal scoreboard referenced Belichick's site. The scoreboard declared “graphic design is my passion,” showing a variety of poses for Oski in a similar vein to Belichick’s website, had Oskii.com in a similar misspelling and even joked it was “totally real definitely not a reference.”

Cal positions its student section directly behind the visiting team’s sideline, and the students showered Belichick with chants about Hudson, at one point calling her his “high school girlfriend.”

In case people were wondering if Bill told JorDON to cool it and stay out of sight, nope, he didn't...

Looking forward to the season of Celebrity Big Brother with BB as one of the houseguests lmao

Won't happen. A bad reputation in college football is a death knell. UNC isn't a high desire program for top prosects. The mystery of Belichick was their biggest boon to recruiting. He really needed to show competency this year. Now they are a circus and parents that have kids with NFL aspirations aren't going to risk it if other options are there.

I don't know if its just me or not. But she is not all that good looking, I think she is quite plain. A gold digger of course, but still plain.

Hey, show some respect for the girl who got third place in the Miss Maine 2025 beauty pageant!

Hot enough to end up with an $8M real estate portfolio at age 24.

Guess she knows her target audience...

Sure that would improve his rep/legacy. But my point is he doesn't seem capable of it. Everything around him and the teams he works for has been beyond dysfunctional the last 5 years with no signs that he realizes it.

The only think BB can do to help his rep at this point IMO is retire. He's a senile old man at this point. Anywhere he goes he's going to fail and each ne6w failure is more ammo for people to make fun of him for. The longer he hangs on the less he'll be remembered for his success and the more he'll be looked at as a clown he's going out as.

Well one factor I didn't quite consider is that the Fins are stuck with Tua for another season at LEAST - and at a HUGE expense no less.

He's due $54 million next season - with a cap hit of $56 million. And if they opt to cut him next season- as he has somewhat lost his team at this point it seems - cutting him triggers $99 million in dead money and I believe it would cost them another $43 million on the salary cap as a result.

While he's got no guaranteed salary in 2027 he would STILL cost them an additional $32 million in dead money and $21 million on the 2027 cap even THEN. Hoo boy.

That being said if the Fins get a Top 3 pick it's tough to say no to a QB as I can't even see them being able to package trading the #1 pick to offload Tua while still trading back unless he agrees to restructure his contract for a fresh start - but why would he, and who would be willing to take him on?

So while that might STILL be a preferred option for BB, he'd still be starting behind the 8 ball given the contract and cap Hell that the Dolphins are in.

The joy of "void years". Let's make a contract that we all agree years in advance will be null and void. NYNFL seems to be trying to wreck the sport one mistake at a time.

If CLE is still paying Watson to not play year after year, MIA won't have any problems figuring something out. Park Avenue will probably help them figure something out if they can't on their own.

If anyone decides to bring Bill back to the NFL, they deserve what they get.

I don't know the ins and outs of recruiting or when it happens - but I would think that it is happening RIGHT NOW for next season with the most sought after players likely beginning to commit pretty soon.

I would think that the AD at UNC and the boosters will be monitoring that pretty closely - I'd guess they know who the best players are, who they're in the mix for, and what their batting percentage is on landing their recruits.

If the allure of playing for Belichick and experiencing a LOT of drama in the first place isn't helping - and possibly hurting - the program, I would think they'd reach a settlement. At that point they would see BB as hurting the program - not helping it rebuild, and the AD, boosters and taxpayers of NC likely aren't going want him there for the remaining 4 years to undermine them more.

Fake injury settlement would be my guess, somehow giving them some cap relief.

I agree this is getting ridiculous on void years/dead money given the nature of contracts to mediocre players. We want an even playing field but it reminds me of what happened to baseball - salaries out of control and teams keeping better players on the bench simply because they're paying guys outrageous amounts and can't "afford" to bench them.

The quality of the product suffers and we are left with mediocrity almost by design. I'm all for players getting whatever they can - but I'd love to see a new CBA that is incentive-laden to ensure bad players with expensive contracts don't water down the game while still docking teams for stupid contracts.

Agree. Back in the 1970s MLB fought the unions thinking they'd win, but instead they lost. NFL saw this and chose to work with the union so at least there's some chance of making course corrections, but IMO the NFL is losing track of what made the league work so well for so many years.

The players unwittingly shot themselves in the foot IMO - the extra money from the extra game effectively goes to only a few of the most elite players. I think everyone benefits from larger rosters as well as it only helps the quality of the game when depth is invariably needed.

Meanwhile huge contracts only hamstring what they can pay for quality depth - which is most of the guys playing. Even their insistence that there not be mandatory minicamps helps the elite veterans but hurts the development of younger hungrier players.

Sadly players seem to all think that some day they're going to be that rich player too so they look out for the rights of the rich rather than their own. Sound familiar?

If Bill really wants to turn the team around, he needs to get rid of his embarrassing clown of a significant other and show the college world he has a clue about what he's doing. And no, I'm not talking about Bunny, I'm talking about Mike Lombardi. That fat slob knows nothing about college football and he's forcing Bill to fight with both arms tied behind his back.

If Bill is a serious person, he will bring in a legitimate talent evaluator to run the GM side of things. I can't see that happening because he still only wants to work with friends and family.

The NFL ownership knows they are dealing with the worst union in all of sports, and they take advantage of that.

Florio has theorized that the owners will do an even bigger-than-usual cash grab and, instead of tying the salary cap to revenues, give the players a set increase per year. While a "set increase" sounds good from the outside, it would no doubt be structured in such a way that the "set increase" in salaries is smaller than the increase in revenues and the players' overall percentage would be going down.

+1 +1 +1

I made the comment in a previous post: Winning is contagious in college football, but so is losing. Winning programs attract top recruits who want to play for winning programs. Meanwhile, losing programs don't get the top recruits. Who wants to play for a loser when you can play for Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama, Oregon, etc...?

Watson is going to hit Cleveland's salary cap for $131 million over the next 2 years. Right now it is scheduled to be roughly $80 in 2026 and $50 in 2027. Cleveland has some leeway to adjust those numbers a bit but unless they actually extend him - and I don't see any reality in which that happens - they will have to pay the salary cap piper in full by 2027.
