The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

While many are concerned about where Tarheel football can go from here, Lee Roberts, chancellor of UNC, assured The Chronicle that they’ve dealt with complete and total failure before. “So what if we’re worse than Duke at football. Yes, that’s a minor hiccup, but at least we’re better at basketb— Oh, they’re above us in the preseason poll? Hm. Ok, well, at least our academi— What was that? Oh. Well, at least our Confederate statues were up for longer — another day, another win for UNC.”

Burn!

Ahem I mean... What a h8r.

If BB is really looking for a way to salvage his reputation, he and UNC both might want to reach out to Stephen Ross to arrange an out from UNC with a landing spot.

BB's rep might be a bit tarnished but then again, so are the Fins.

Why so he can finish out the year losing every game with the Dolphins?

The man is 74 and has shown serious signs of regression as a HC.

Why would any owner want to put their billion dollar franchise in the hands of Jordan Hudson?

Feels like if Bunny wants to go to Miami then she'll clip Bill's leash on and that's where they'll go.

Well there's actually been some speculation about this, though it often seems like Belichick's camp is the source of the rumored interest.

The Sporting News has him at the top of their list as possible replacement coaches for next season too

Whether Ross would be interested is the larger question - perhaps the assumption that maybe a 74 year old isn't up to a 5 year plan to turnaround a college organization where he can't control who plays for him seems apparant

But perhaps BB can still get pro players to listen to him, and unlike at UNC, he can actually hire and fire players to get the ones to fit his system. We also see it all the time where teams go from a Players Coach to a Tough Coach and BB certainly can be tough,

Ross is often interested in proven NFL names and at the age of 85 he's probably looking for a quick rebuild, and not the 5 year long program that Belichick presumably prefers.

As attractive as UNC's five year rebuild likely is or was to Belichick, I'd think that if a team had a core of decent players, and a top draft pick next year to take a QB in a strong QB draft, with free agency money in a state that has no income tax for players or the coach, with a young girlfriend who probably would love being Miami royalty... it just MIGHT be attractive to them!

And would Bunny want to make herself Miami royalty?

Nah - she's not that vain.

Bunny doesn't want to go to Miami, so this won't happen. At UNC, she's probably a 5. At South Beach she's maybe a 3.
She'd be a Dorchester triple-decker girl going up against Miami Penthouse girls.
No contest at all, just like anyone competing against UNC Football.

Well thats a fair point on Ross age being 85. He probably is desperate to see his team at least make the playoffs again before he passes and maybe he does see BB as having that potential.

Who knows, since Bill is clearly feeling petty towards Kraft he might actually work hard enough to make the Dolphins good. Ive never doubted Bill's abilities just his commitment in old age.

It would be ironic, though, if he beat Shula's total wins record while coaching Miami.

Holy crap!!! 339 pages ?? Without having to read the whole thing … has it been decided if Bill was great or did he suck? How bout the girlfriend? She great … or does she… suck?

The only think BB can do to help his rep at this point IMO is retire. He's a senile old man at this point. Anywhere he goes he's going to fail and each new failure is more ammo for people to make fun of him for. The longer he hangs on the less he'll be remembered for his success and the more he'll be looked at as a clown he's going out as.

No, he can continue to improve the team, and return next year and be competitive.
