For the first time this season I could say Wilson had some real issues yesterday. Drake was getting hit far to much from Wilson's side.

Wilson is decent in the Pass Protection; hope he improves his run Blocking. Maye's ability to move around will only help.

It was not his best game. That's for sure. Onwenu, on the other hand, probably had his best game of the year.

Agreed. At the end of the game I was happy to see Dobbs be put in and Drake out.. he's invaluable to this team.

He's been playing left guard but was drafted as a center. I wonder if maybe that's catching up to him and us? He's more of an athletic type than a mauler and probably physically profiles better as a center where it's usually more help and combination blocks than being one on one with a 3T pass rushing DT.

Yes. I believe ultimately once Bradbury retires or walks in FA.. he likely moves to C. Bradbury is on a 2 year deal. But yeah.. yesterday was noticeable with Wilson..

Yeah.. he's athletic enough to be better in that area.. but he's be solid this season so he'll get better.

Lazar makes a good point here about the two deep looks creeping in more vs. TEN compared to single high for most of the first 6 games. For most of the year we've struggled running the ball and made up for it by throwing deep so most wanted to trade for a RB. But defenses were also playing them that way. Defenses weren't respecting our ability to make plays downfield. Maye and the receivers have made them pay, so defenses adjust. It's a constant chess match of adjustments and counter adjustments in the NFL.

Where you get really, REALLY dangerous is when you have the personnel to execute both at a high level and you can just take what the defenses gives you week to week.

Helpful - but also most of the big runs were end arounds where he's hardly touched - and a few nice holes punched by the OL too

He looked nice and shifty there and I'd always rather NOT have RBs breaking tackles - but we still don't have a bull rush RB that really comes in handy in short yardage and goal line situations.

Not sure who is selling but I'd still think we a buyers in the RB department

We are really seeing how valuable Gibson was. A Versatile back that was comfortable in his role. I actually like how Jennings runs.. he's not flashy and he's tough.

Funny: how we've probably seen one run from T Henderson like that on the season thus far. All we need is a RB to keep our down and distance manageable with positive yardage and not a loss. We know the Defense gets paid to play too.

Shaheed is fast but is not really proven. He'd be good on kick returns. He's a free agent after this year. I might flip a 5th for him.

Olave definitely does interest me but there's some injury risk. That said, if he stays healthy (big "if") he is probably the top guy on their depth chart pretty quickly. He has this year (cheap) and his 5th year option next year ($15M guaranteed) left on his deal, which is likely why NO wants to move him due to the need to build up the roster and also get above water on the cap next year, which factors into negotiations. I'd probably offer a 4th.

I would only trade for players on expiring contracts if extending them is part of the deal. We need to be spending draft capital on the future not on half season rentals.

Exactly correct. Henderson is talented but can learn something from watching Jennings run and I believe that's a reason why Jennings was in game late yesterday.

Why are you spending draft capital like a drunken sailor when we are trying to rebuild for the long lived next dynasty?

I doubt we’d keep Olave beyond his fifth year option anyway, on price quite apart from his averaging more than one concussion per year over his NFL career.

He'd also be the presumptive #1 in 2027, when Diggs will be 33? 34? So that's why I don't **** on the Olave move as much as some others, although the concussions really are a big concern for me.

If he’s still here. He might be too expensive to extend. Even if he is extended it will be tying up a lot of cap money in a guy with a scary injury history. That’s why it just doesn’t add up for me. He’s damaged goods, expensive now and expensive in the future.

For what it's worth Romeo Dobbs who we scouted heavily and past Five times BB Draft. Had serious concussion issues last year and have been good this year thank goodness. So I think there might be hope for Olave.

He’s a rookie. He will have some imperfect games. He’s been close to perfect in some previous games. The sky is not falling.

In a perfect pie-in-the-sky world, Olave comes into NE, stays healthy and becomes the #1 WR for the next 5-6 years on relatively cheap money (since an extension will have low initial cap hits). Diggs then no longer has to be the top guy and can become more of a primarily slot specialist, which he has already sort of started doing, and that will probably extend his career for most or all of that same timeframe. They can extend Boutte at the same time and have their top 3 guys set for the rest of Drake's rookie contract - Olave, Boutte, Diggs, with some peppering in of Williams and Chism.

They also wouldn't be paying much overall to that group during Drake's rookie deal, meaning more money available for key free agent acquisitions. Big QB cap hits for Drake are still many years away. Josh Allen as a reference point is just now starting to really get expensive and he was drafted 7 years ago. Drake's in year 2.

Of course, making all of the above happen would be difficult and some of it comes down to luck.

I’m not willing to make that exception yet. Another two years of progress like we’ve seen this year and maybe I’d consider it, but by then I’m expecting it wouldn’t make enough of a bump to justify it. We need at least another year to finish shoring up deficiencies too urgently to divert any capital for short term rentals. Maybe two years, as it’s unrealistic to expect we can hit as well in the next draft as we did in this one. And that’s good reason to hold draft picks not trade them away, unless the return is going to be with the team as long as a successful drafted player would be.
