OT: Players you forget were Patriots

K Robbie Gould *
Funny story for me with Robbie Gould

Going into training of 2005 I was a college kid looking to get a bunch of autographs from the 'dynasty players'. After all, the team had just won 3 of the last 4 championships.

To draw some attention, I took a poster board, drew the three rings, and colored them in with glitter glue to give it a nice 'shine' (after all, it was completely understandable that players would mostly autograph for little kids and hot girls so I had to do 'something' put myself in the game).

Anyways, at camp you have no control over who comes to your area to sign, and I already had a plan that if anyone who was NOT on the dynasty teams I would not have them sign my poster (after all, the poster was specifically about the championships). Well, that was easier said than done, empathy takes over. An unknown backup kicker (who was surely to be cut, Adam wasn't getting cut) came over to my area and I didn't have the heart to deny him from signing. So he signed my board and that kicker (Robbie Gould) ended up having a good NFL career.

Jesse James Decker's husband

How could I forget Eric Decker?

Patriot Nation went into a severe state of depression when he was cut, looking forward to the cameras zooming in on her on game days.

Another Broncos WR that was better than Decker, Demaryius Thomas, was here for one offseason. Don't understand why the Pats kept Phillip Dorsett over Thomas. For a moment the 2019 roster was stacked with WRs, then all of a sudden after Josh Gordon was injured and Antonio Brown only lasted one game, they were so thin at the position they had to make a desperation trade for Mohamed Sanu. Having to devote a roster spot on a first round draft pick by the name of N'Keal didn't help matters either.

Did you mean Monty Beisel?

EDIT: Or Connor Barwin?
It's a legendary thread from many years ago.

41 pages long.

Yes.

Demaryius Thomas went to the Jets and then was injured for the season, if memory serves. Add Maurice Harris and Dontrel (?) Inman, who were decent.

I've got to admit that I was the last remaining member of the "Waiting for N'Keal Harry's breakout game" club.

Terrell Buckley. Contributed to our first SB run.

Used to get him and Tebucky Jones mixed up lol

Oh man what about Brian Cox!!

One of the earlier random football memories that stick out most for me is him as a dolphin getting booted from a game in buffalo. He’s walking off the field forcefully spitting towards the fans even though he had no chance of reaching them. He was a maniac. And then ended up winning a Super Bowl with us!

Zo (yes, that Zo) started a playoff game once at QB for the Patriots. Lol

Albert Haynesworth.
Would kindof be hilarious to see someone walking around with a Hayenesworth jersey.

I mean, who even bought one?

Dude wants $70 for it on ebay- Heck there's probably about 3 of them left out there - but even Aaron Hernandez jerseys are (oddly) fetching much much more.

Shoutout to one of my old roster "binkies" Hank Poteat

I always liked having Hank on the team for DB depth. He was almost the epitome of "next man up"

It didn't get a lot of attention at the time but he always seemed to shored up what could have been a GAPING hole in the secondary, including the run up to the Super Bowl win against the Eagles.

That was the first time we ever lost to the Jaguars...

12-3 (total, inc playoffs) vs the Jags...

Donald Hayes was supposed to be Brady's big deep threat in 2002 lol
Me: "Oh my god we finally got a tall 6'4" wide receiver! He's going to be unstoppable in the end zone!!"

Donald Hayes: "lol nope"
