Patriots need to get more out of Henderson

OK, I agree. The run blocking of our OL isn't good enough to get us to the Super Bowl. My hope is that they will improve and that Josh will better plan his running plays. A good/great coach learns to make the best plans with the players that he has. 4-2, and potentially 6-3 at the half is doing well with what we have.

My point is that the OL is playing well enough to win and get into the playoffs, and even deep, depending on health. luck and improvement in the Defense.

I believe that we can have a #5 Defense this year, and a good ST group.
==========
KC got to the superbowl last year with a sub-par rushing attack and OL play..
KC won the superbowl the previous year with the very same issues.

Past patiots teams have won SB with sub-par rushing.

The rushing will improve. It has to improve.

Watching Henderson run, he looks tentative and he has poor vision. The tentativeness is okay, but the vision is concerning. Rbs usually have it or they don't.

I expect him to get better with more play time. The speed of the game and intelligence of the defense is clearly a big adjustment for him.

Yep! And we were 29th in rushing last season.. seems like some forgot that.. over maybe winning a whopping 4 games may have clouded thier memory.. we mustn't trick ourselves into believing that we should never seek to add to the roster.. Vrabel isn't bringing in anyone that thinks he's bigger than the team.... if we got a high caliber player on offense to pair with Diggs and Boutte.. people would be jumping for joy...

Who’s not for improving the roster?
I think the way to do that is to address other areas. Edge, Safety, RB. WR is way down the list for me, but it’s not like I’m opposed to improving any area of the roster.

Only when Brady was the QB.
100% correct.
But 2001 Brady was not even remotely the player he later became.
He had 579 yds in his 3 postseason games that year, 193 yds/game.
He had 1 TD and 1 INT combined in those 3 games….thats right, 1 TD in 3 games.
He had 145 yds in the SB and lead the offense to 13 points.
He did not lift the WRs up and carry the team on his shoulders, he simply didn’t.
To argue we won that SB with average WRs because Brady elevated their play is simply incorrect.
He is the best QB of all time, but that’s not what he was in 2001, no matter how you try to slice it.

Some outside runs would be nice i don't think he's a guy you want to just run dives up the middle with, i also bizarrely think that Stevensons fumbles have got him overly concerned with ball security.

These guys are missing holes cause they're running with 2 hands on the ball terrified of fumbling.

DD as usual we are in agreement. I'm simply saying if a move made sense of course it's worth it to explore. I go back to the eagles superbowl. Barkley had a sensational year running the ball.. what happened when the superbowl came.. the chiefs shut the run down and got beat over the top. Having a guy to add to the complimentary players we currently have only makes us more multiple offensively.

On defense highly agree. Edge, safety are areas we need depth on. I expect us to remain competitive as this teams now permeates the culture of winning re-stablished under Vrabel. Adding depth at Edge makes the most sense.. it's been mentioned here also about going after buddah baker at safety.

Correct. Plus when the defense got older and guys started moving on/retirement... Brady went into another realm as a QB..

True, but in the super bowl he threw an awesome TD pass to Patten, then led us on a game winning drive in the final seconds. The Rams had a great defense so he played pretty well in that game.

Also he didn't see that much action in those playoffs. We had a 1st round bye, then played in the snow bowl vs Oakland (not a normal game), then he got hurt early in the Pitt (Drew) game. Brady was an above average QB by the end of that season.

I got back to essentially the last 5 seasons... at QB.. Cam, Mack, Zappe even hoyer... we struggled because of the QB play and OL. The running game didn't help us become a top offense or make up for the ****ty QB play.

The QB play makes up for a less then desirable running game.. there are so many examples..

We have the Coach, QB and the OL is ranked 11th.. the running game will come together... speaking for myself 40.. I'd rather be talking about my young stud QB that's in MVP considerations than worrying about the running game that can and will be better.. just my 2 cents.

I still expect Henderson to break out, I just hope he doesn't get hurt before it happens

Saw a Breakdown of Sunday's game: Henderson threw some excellent Blocks in Pass Protection. We knew he was very accomplished in that area coming out. I think his running will come: the season is still young.

With you on that PF2. His collage highlights made it clear why he was picked where he was. He is a rookie, I'm sure there is a very good RB there waiting to burst out.

Well he's the Blocking part down: now the Coaches have to coach him up on the running part.

As Nunchucks said, vision isn't something you can coach. Vision and instinct, either you got them or you don't. Doesn't mean he isn't serviceable. Coaches just need to match what he is to what he is asked to do. Simple huh? NO.

Henderson is probably thinking a lot; and we all thought Rham would be that Bellcow RB without the fumbles. Again I think his running will come: remember too we have Two Rookies along our OL plus Corpse Moses. I am sure they're trying to figure it out in practice.

Oddly, I agree with what you’re trying to say.

What you wrote however, was effectively “if you take out the 40% where I’m wrong, I’m right 100% of the time
