NFL Trade Deadline Discourse

Here me out.. and I'll loop in @Zuma @TommyD4207 as well. Yes everything you fine gentlemen are posting is reasonable. I'm simply saying that while we may not " need" AJ. The notion is simply "if" the possibility arises where it made sense to add him. He takes this offense to elite status. As a fan I'd caution about thinking we don't need more. Vrabel even said himself he's looking to improve the roster..

We are playing well and really ascending at a pace in the rebuild that few saw. However the roster still needs more. We do need to see Williams develop into that wr we believe he can be.. now of he develops into such then we have something.
I understand your point but I disagree for the reasons I mentioned. Also...I'm of the belief that Brown and Diggs cannot coexist in the same locker room.

Phillips would probably be my most realistic trade target. Had 77 pressures & 7.5 sacks in 2022 & 6.5 sacks in 8 games in 2023 before suffering back to back season ending injuries. He's starting to play well & is only 26 years old. He could probably be had for a day 3 pick & he'd be playing for his next contract.

My opinion.
We don’t need a WR to be an elite offense. We need a run game, that is what is keeping this offense from being elite.
I’m all for improving the roster at every position (obv not QB), but what we gives us the best chance to go deeper this year?
A WR? I don’t think so, I think that’s way down the list.
I like our pass catchers tbh, I don’t see any need to add to them.

I'd suggest they need a safety next to Woodson before any of that, really.

Getting a safety for the Patriots' system is tricky. They don't play with a strong and free safety. They expect their safeties to basically play one side of the field (old school Patriots' way of playing). So you need a versatile safety. Those guys don't shake free as often as a traditional strong or free safety.

But then again, teams are more willing to part with safeties than other positions because the position isn't as valued.

Could be right. If we are spending big bucks I would rather have a defensive player or an O Lineman.

Know who's a versatile safety? Can cover slot, TE, play deep, play in the box as a LB?

Budda Baker.

Could be a possibility. Diggs has organically stepped into a leadership position and he's been lauded for it.. I can't speak to AJ being a problem because there has nothing but accolades about him going back to Tennessee.

So, who knows? I know different era, coaching, ect but similar things had been said about moss too.

Let me say.. I'm in no way saying we need AJ.. as i agree it's painfully obvious we need a running game. 3.5 YPC.. I'd also make mention we won superbowls being a meiedocre running team as well.. so we are winning because the elite play from Drake, the coaching and playing solid defense. The passing game is going to have to open up the running game.. rham was continuing to het dropped for losses .. as fans.. let's go back to what we all had to complain about last season... I'll take this current team as is because the running game can and will improve.

Woodson has been playing better lately...he's a rook. Not a S but Gonzo just got back recently. I think the secondary will only improve. I would much rather the team get an RB (1st down back...starter or backup) or OL instead.
The problem with getting OL is that it probably won't fix the run game because each OLman we have share the blame for the run game woes. One play it will be Owenu ****ing up and the next run will be Wilson and then Campell etc...There were a couple of plays that Campbell was not able to seal off at the 2nd level vs Saints.

The OL run blocking is bad as a unit. Of the 2 OL jobs, I am glad they are better at pass blocking. The run game is just infuriating to watch.

That's the nicest thing anyone's said about Hawkins all year.
My only assumption is Vrabel knows he has a rookie in Woodson who's good but needs a partner.. he likely feels his CBs and good enough to offset the defenciency?

I keep it on simple terms. We have one of the most effective passing games in the league by any and all metrics. There's only so much more it can be improved. The cost-benefit ratio of a big move at WR doesn't make sense.

An edge rusher or coverage safety--someone to make life difficult for Kermit/Allen/etc in the playoffs-- would have a much bigger impact on the team as it stands.

Or he realizes you can't overhaul an entire roster in an offseason.
That is why I'm not getting stuck on the belief that we don't need more. Wr, S, LB, DE.. of course we do. We are very thin on the edges.. we already spoke about safety..

We need a edge followed by cornerback and safety . Just hope oline starts yelling in better to open holes. I have a feeling rham and Jennings will come along well.

Great year for Edge in the upcoming draft.

Vrabel said as much when he was asked if they were in on Parsons, he basically said they weren't at the stage of development where it made sense to make a move like that.

And they never would have landed Johnson, since Maye was a draw for him to come here. Can Harrison Jr throw deep, or is Jacoby still leading this revolutionary 1 QB, 10 WR offense?

I forgot the best part, Justin Fields would be the quarterback, as that's who 2 wanted them to trade for.
