So how soon do we extend Maye? Before or after we win our FIRST Super Bowl of the Drake Maye dynasty ...
IIRC he’s not eligible for extension this year.

So if we go all the way it’ll have to be after.

Also, FIFY.

I think it's a 2nd round pick vs a 1st round pick, since a 2nd round pick is only a 4-year deal with no option.
Could be wrong.
The change was made in the 2010 CBA. Players drafted in 2010 were grandfathered into the old rule (extensions possible after two years); since then, it's three years for drafted players and two years for UDFAs. [So the last two drafted players extended after two years are GRONK and the other TE.]

I was tooting this horn during the offseason and posters thought I was over rating a team that was 4-13. Take Allen and Cook away and the Pats roster edges them out and it's really not even close. I'd only give the Bills the OL and I'm being generous.
Definitely generous. You might be honoring history too much.

I think we can extend him after next year? After his 3rd season I'm pretty sure, you can extend the contract, and he's still on the rookie deal for year 4 and option for year 5.
I'll use Gonzo as an example, since he'll reach that point this offseason.

After Week 18, they have three options:

1. They can pick up his fifth-year option for 2027. That guarantees any remaining salary in his current contract, and the option is fully guaranteed. The deadline for this is May 3.

2. They can sign him to an extension. This can be done anytime before his contract ends. It would likely moot the fifth-year option, since any extension would by definition cover the 2027 season. AFAIK nothing prevents them from doing (1) first and then tearing that up in favor of an extension.

3. They can do neither. They could still AFAIK franchise him at the end of year 4, but that would be ugly.

When Maye stays balanced on his throws, he's great. He's stepped up his game since the Raiders and Steelers. Not sure what tweak they did, but it's working. He just needs to continue that going forward.
Callahan mentioned that they left his dropbacks alone, so whatever it is comes after that.

There were more than a few out there who gave me a hard time for wanting to keep Boutte. I've been VERY consistent on him. Even last year, I saw that there was something working with him and Maye. It may not be Bledsoe to Coates (my ultimate point of comparison, obviously), but who is?

It kind of feels surreal today with talk about playoffs and such, but that is what a win like this will do for you.
Coming off back to back 4 win seasons.. as a fan base we all know what playoff expectations felt like. However with the last 2 seasons it felt like we were still a rebuilding team. Now I believe we are a team that has been going through a reset. We have the 2 most important elements in building a contender coach and QB.

For example Washington last season was supposed to be "rebuilding " look that they achieved. To be above 500, and 2-0 in tje division is such a unexpected thing at this point and it's a pleasure to be able to talk and think playoffs. The AFC is wide open and barring major injuries this team should at minimum be a wildcard. They are hungry and you can tell they want to win.

Either way, it's a great feeling to know that we're not going to be sweating out year 4 wondering if we're going to bother picking up his option.

But you absolutely lock him in as soon as you can, because that market only goes up.
Going to be interesting to see how things go forward with an additional ownership group involved. Not that it's a negative..as I fully expect Vrabel to spend he mentioned at the end of camp about how he wants to het guys to second contracts. Vrabel is such a breath of fresh air, and what NE needed.

He do something? What’d I miss here?

Vrabel beating up McDermott after he started the snowball fight.

He is supposed to be some defensive guru, but the funny thing is that I've never heard about any Bills scheme or gameplan that was pure genius. Rex Ryan forgot more than McDermott will ever know.

Yeah, that was in the middle of Bradbury being on a heater. He was mauling the Bills interior d-line.

Bradbury's play has been a revelation. He has reinvented himself here, I don't think any of us expected this level of play out of him. When he was signed the reaction was largely 'Okay he's adequate until the position can be upgraded.' Instead he's outright killing it

Other than a possible playoff game that is the last time the Pats will visit Highmark Stadium right? New place opens next season?

If so nice to finish there with a W.

Playoff picture as things stand right now:
Ok: I'm going to bet Fingers and Toes that Mahomes and Reid is winning that pathetic West Division. They own those B!tches.

The architect for Highmark was the same one for old Shaeffer/Sullivan stadium.

As of now I'm not conceding a WC: Buffalo have to play to win: we ain't handing them the Division. We won in two tough places already: Buffalo have some Division Winners to face Eagles - KC - Tampa and the Texans among others. The Patriots have a much easier road to the Division. We just have to take care of business @ Home. Really hope we continue this Run.

Maybe I was mistaken, but thought I saw him get beat right up the right center (could've been Onwenu).
Definitely NOT an atrocious outing though.
He's been a decent singing for sure IMO.

Twin I agree: only saying WC because we likely will finish 2nd in the division.. if we won the AFCE that would absolutely be spectacular! We have shown a blueprint to how to slow Buffalo i believe..

Remember how Ravens used to give us trouble?.. other teams started copying thier blueprint print. I also believe that as well continue to stack these games together.. we need to get AJ up out of Philly. It's clear Barkley is the focus and not him. I'm telling you Twin he's the piece on offense that will take us over the top.

I'd even go as far as say.. Bradbury has provided better play at C then the last few seasons...

I'm not to opposed to Chris Olave either: he's been concussion free so far. Also they throw to him a lot: he's a good possession Receiver: we'll see him on Sunday. Would love the A.J. Brown acquisition this season: but I don't see it Twin with that Eagles Dead money hit. Next Off-season seems more likely.
