Spot on. Patriots DEs were playing with edge discipline to avoid getting gashed by Allen. This combined with solid CB play let the pressure develop from the interior.
Exactly correct! I think we may habe shown teams a format to dealing with the bills offense at least slowing them. Not many teams have the coverage ability we possess but I can bet you it will be a trend going forward.

Of course they shouldn’t but theyre bills fans
I remember Willie and teddy B..talking during an ESPN episode one time.. and they both talked about how they became addicted to the exhilarating feeling of winning, like all that hard work and what the dog days of training camp taught them.. this team now has some taste of winning... we have enough vets to keep the young guys focused.. no need to go celebrating or in the strip clubs.. stay focused and continue to try and win.. if they do that.. come December they will be a playoff team no one wants to see.

We were bummed we didn't get Travis Hunter... But man, Marcus Jones this year ...
T HUNTER is having position identity issues.. am I a CB or WR he asks himself.. for such a talented guy.. it may be to much to ask at the NFL level to consistently play multiple positions.

Yeah, it's always going to be tough against Allen (until his knees explode that is), because you desperately want to play man against those garbage receivers, but you can't, because Allen will just heroball around and run for 20 yards, so you're stuck playing zone, and hope Allen's inaccurate enough to miss guys open in the zone...or that you actually get home and get him on the ground, which is also tough.

Bills got exposed big time last night. Put big guys on the line, and do your best to play good zone. Stop the Cook runs, and it's Allen heroball time, and you take your chances that he'll give you a couple.

Last night Allen gave the Patriots a couple. He's Brett Favre with ****tier weapons.

Yes, one of my favorite factoids:

Not only did Brady have more super bowl victories than losses to the Bills, despite playing them 2x a year for almost 20 years, he had more super bowl MVP awards than losses to the Bills
And one of those losses was a meaningless week 17 game where he only played one half, one was the Lawyer Milloy 31-0 opening day 2003 (avenged by the same score later that year) and I can't remember the other one. Rented mules weren't beat that much.

If you watched that slow-mo of Drake stiff-arming the 320 lb. DT before throwing for a first down a fraction of a second before he is tackled to the ground and you don’t get at least a semi, you either aren’t a Pats fan or you need to check your pulse.

One of the best plays I have seen this season. Incredible.
Football doesn’t make me horny. Great play though.

The Gino Cappelletti, Lou Groza, Chuck Bednarik days are well behind us. And two of those guys were kickers!!

I certainly wasn't in that camp. In fact, I wasn't crazy about any of the top picks. But passing on the best LT prospect for Hunter or Carter would've been idiotic. Mayo having the Pats slide to 4 made the selection very easy as I'm sure they would've stayed up many nights on deciding who to pick. Campbell by far is the superior player at this point. It's really not even close.

That is very accurate. In a sense it felt like the bills were feeling themselves a bit
Nothing wrong with being confident but they have no rings... I'm telling you Tommy i expect teams to start to try to do what we did to the bills.. remember how the Ravens used to rush up the middle and Brady even admitted he hated playing teams with potent interior rushers..

I mean, that's the blueprint.
It's just a question of personnel. Not every team can generate pressure with four, or can play good enough zone coverage.

Turn Josh Allen into Checkdown Joe Flacco. That's how you really win.

A few day after thoughts:

The Good
- Even if the score were 23-20 the other way around, while it would be bittersweet, I think we would all be feeling pretty good about the outcome.
- You can see that the team is not only bought in but beginning to believe in themselves. A lot of guys on that roster have endured some awful times the past 1-2 seasons.
- Vrabel has his own touch on personnel that seems like a blend of a "Player's coach" and BB's ultimate disciplinarian style. Rham going from fumbling yet again to scoring 2 TDs is a sign of that. Borregales hitting a clutch kick. Though Vrabel will definitely deal with the two bonehead DTs (Pharms and Farmer?) and their egregious late hits.

Bucket of cold water:
- Despite the win I feel there is still a gap between us and the Bills. A lot went the right way for us to eke out a 3 point win. Two Bills turnovers in the red zone. Drake Maye making every statistically improbable completion. Bills fans moaning about them losing the game rather than the Pats winning it is a familiar sentiment from the dynasty days when our Pats would drop an odd game to the Jets or Dolphins.

Adding on to your bucket of cold water... the Jets/Dolphins/Bills weren't exactly powerhouses and despite that during the dynasty years we had a worse record vs. them than the rest of the NFL. Division games are tricky. Even if you go back to the debacle of last season with Mayo, the first game against BUF was one of the better showings for the team all year besides the few wins. One of the few losses that was even competitive. In BB's last year they beat the Bills once and only lose by one score the 2nd time. Obviously the Bills were way better than us both years but that big underdog against a division powerhouse dynamic can have a David vs. Goliath rallying effect.

Normally I'd completely agree.

I think this is a far more flawed Bills team than in years past, and I don't think anyone realized it until now. They've got real games against real defenses coming up.

For your first year in the modern NFL, you gotta keep it to 90% on one side. Just give the player time to develop. This is why I wasn't as hyped on Hunter. I don't think he would've really been a huge boon to this team, either.

Also, big smart move by Maye on that 3rd and 5 before the final FG, escaping the pocket and realizing no one was open and running back to the line s he goes out of bounds. That was such a key moment from him.

If I want to read the schizo ****, I'll go to the schizo thread.

After a day when the Patriots went on the road as 8 point underdogs, and beat up an undefeated division team, with great performances by players - it's not too much to talk about that...in the thread dedicated specifically to that.

The schizo **** is completely irrelevant to that. Again, if you wanna blog about schizo ****, there's a dedicated thread for it. Multiple threads even. How do I know? SB made the same post in at least 3 different threads that I've seen so far, because it's apparently REALLY SUPER IMPORTANT AND RELEVANT GUYS HAHA BB SUXORZ.

College didn't post something on Twitter fast enough has NOTHING to do with the Patriots/Bills or the Patriots season. Not at all. Not in the slightest. It's not that big of an ask. I'm not saying 'ban the haters'. I don't even want to mute anyone. I'm just saying, the Patriots had a really good win last night, and suddenly the ONE thread dedicated to JUST that, is flooded with ********, unrelated drama.

Go enjoy the ********, unrelated drama in the ******** unrelated drama threads. Leave the one postgame thread to talk about the postgame.

I don't see how this is in any way controversial.
I agree completely with you, the BB talk has no place in a post game thread and for some reason that is all some posters want to talk about. Its like they do not care about the football team and just like high school drama.

Tommy what are your thoughts on the play the Maye was being tackled (horse collar) and made the throw to Diggs? It was awesome, to see but he has tried those same things before and it ended badly (fumble/pick).

I kinda want to see him stop doing that, because I feel that more times than not it will end poorly. Your thoughts?

Bills fans did. That seems to be a lot of the sentiment on their board. That the Bills had shown signs that they have some big weaknesses, particularly on defense.

I agree. I think he was saying to Vrabel he had a guy open (he did) but didn't pull the trigger, and Vrabel was assuring him that it was all right.
