Very well said. I could see Troy Brown in the clutch list as well. If you needed a third down completion Troy was the man. I'm sure Stanley Morgan would be on one of those lists but he was before my time so I'm not qualified to decide.Since watching the Pats, the most talented WR's were Moss, Glenn and Welker.
Most clutch were Edelman, Branch, Givens and Amendola.
Clayborn --> Morgan ?
If so, then, yes, Morgan.
Which brings me to Who is the Patriots greatest DB of all time?Hahaha definitely meant Morgan. (Fixed)
Classy.
Belichick and Tuna both came from the Ray Perkins tree.Parcells tree. He was the foundation the Patriots dynasty started with.
I really wanted to but Brown on the list and wouldn't argue if anyone included him in there. The punt return TD against the Steelers in the 2001 AFCCG was a big play that set the tone for the game. It let the Steelers know it's not going to be easy for them. He and Coates become Drew's favorites on 3rd down.Very well said. I could see Troy Brown in the clutch list as well. My takeaways:
Bob Kraft whiffed on keeping the flying elvis, and his statement that the last game of a 5-11 1993 season was "the most excitement Patriot fans had felt in nearly a decade" manages to ignore an AFC Championship, an AFC East Division Championship, and a thrilling, highly competitive promising 1988 season aborted when Berry suicidally benched Doug Flutie, which was only half a decade prior.
Two names mentioned by Coach Parcells are egregiously glaring omissions from the team Hall of Fame, Bucko Kilroy and Russ Francis. Two other members of that 1980 team which was Parcells' first as an NFL coach are Julius Adams and Mosi Tatupu, likewise egregiously glaring omissions.
Jonathan Kraft said today, "In this hall, longevity in the uniform matters." Well, it obviously doesn't in the cases of:
Francis: 9 years
Tatupu: 13 years
Adams: 16 years
Kilroy: 36 years
Their time spent here is less pertinent than each of their individual contributions on and off the field. They comported themselves as champions and are more deserving of induction than a dozen or more present Hall members.
Choosing to stop hiding from the embarrassment of these men not being honored while they were still with us and inducting them in a ceremony with their surviving family and teammates attending would be the right, classy thing to do.
Robert, Jonathan, Stacey, it would be good for you to see this post and follow it.
Classy.
Didn't change my point of view. Rather have Chuck Fairbanks in the Hall.Interesting how time/age changes the point of view, eh Bill?
I mean Bill's.Didn't change my point of view. Rather have Chuck Fairbanks in the Hall.
I know.I mean Bill's.
Chuck Fairbanks' importance to the Patriots franchise, along with Sullivan hiring him, is challenging to quantify. It does equal or even exceed Parcells'.Didn't change my point of view. Rather have Chuck Fairbanks in the Hall.
