Injury Creates Starting Opportunity For Former Patriots Quarterback (Mac Jones)

LOL! You are seeing it in reverse. Kraft didn't force Belichick to make Matt Patricia offensive coordinator. In fact, Kraft was very vocal that he was against it, but gave Belichick the benefit of that decision because he was a Super Bowl winning coach. If Kraft was telling Belichick how to run the team, Patricia and Judge would never have been running the offense in 2022.

Also, Kraft sided with Belichick with Brady.

So let's say your accounts are right and Belichick didn't think Mac was starter quality, what he did was every worse and more damning. Belichick saw Mac wasn't starter worthy and decide that screw it! He was going to assemble the worst offense in he could possibly make to show the owner. If Mac is that bad, he was going to show Kraft by giving Mac no talent to work with, an offensive coordinator with no offensive experience and have him try to implement an offense that he nor anyone on the coaching staff had any experience running, gave Mac a QB coach who knew nothing about QB coaching, an o-line coach that ran a system that didn't mesh with the offensive system they were trying to run, helped to fuel the fire of a QB controversy when he should have either backed Mac or benched him, and then in the following year kept on starting and benching him game after game.

I don't think you are making the case you think. What Belichick did in 2022 is even more damning to him if he didn't think Mac was starter quality. His job as head coach was to build an offense to hide his QB's deficiencies if he doesn't think he is up to snuff. What Belichick did was exploit Mac's weaknesses and hid his strengths.

The Mayo thing was done the season after Belichick should have been fired. Any other coach would have been fired after the 2022 season. In fact, Kraft's biggest mistake other than making Mayo head coach was not firing Belichick after the 2022 season. But then again, without Belichick as head coach in 2023 would the Patriots have finished high enough to draft Drake Maye?

And BTW, if Mac succeeds in San Fran, Belichick is going to look even worse for thinking Mac wasn't a starting quality QB.
Wasn't talking about Patricia. I didn't say it was a coach who was forced on him.

Mac has already floundered many times outside New England.

He is already one of the worst QBs the NFL has ever seen. Nothing more needs to be said,.

Week 14 bye
*Colts: 2 interceptions, 57% completions
*Bills: 2 interceptions, 43% completions
*Jaguars: No turnovers
*Dolphins: 1 interception, 1 fumble
*Bills: 2 interceptions, 63% completions

This ^ sucks.

And no, an errorless game against Jacksonville, the worst record in the entire NFL and worst defense in 2021, does not diminish the suck.

He played well in the Dolphins game after the fumble. He had a great second half against the Colts.

Funny how pick selective stats. Why not say how he had 3 TDs and a 73.3% completion percentage against the Jags and 66.7% completions against the Dolphins. Don't cherry.

He had 13 interceptions in 2021 and five were in the last four games and four of them came in two games. Let's put facts into perspective here.

He had a bad game vs. the Bills and a bad first half vs. the Colts and the rest of the games were pretty much we were getting all year. His worst game of the year was against the Saints in September and other than the Bills game his completion percentage game was on Halloween vs. the Chargers.

Yeah, take away the 3 win Jaguars
Oooh we're playing "take away" now lol. I can play take away too!

Let's take away those very same Jaguars defeating the Dolphins in 21. That puts MIA in and NE out and so your hoodied hero now has ZERO playoff appearances as a coach post Brady lol.

Even better...take away Brady and your hoodied hero is out of the league decades ago cause he really is a steaming pile of trash as a head coach if he can't ride on the coattails of the GOAT QB being on his team.

Yes, and Belichick has to take a large portion of the blame for it. He played a key role in making Mac Jones one of the worst QBs in the NFL. If Belichick was a competent coach and GM in his final years, he would have done what Shanahan is doing with Jones now and putting him in a position to succeed rather than undermining him at every step of the way.

If Belichick got a real OC who actually knew the offensive system he was trying to run and QBs coach in 2022, he drafted AJ Brown over NKeal Harry or even George Pickens over Tyquan Thornton, drafted anyone over Cole Strange, etc. Mac Jones might have been a competent QB and won games. But Belichick did everything to undermine him and shatter his confidence.

If Robert Saleh did half the things to Zach Wilson that Belichick did to Mac Jones, we would have mocked him endlessly. Belichick did a masterclass on how to ruin a young QB.

One of the worst the league has ever seen? That's a reach.

A huge reach. He didn't look truly awful until his confidence was shattered by the head games Belichick did on him.

If people think Belichick was a victim of Kraft's interference and manipulation, Belichick basically did the same thing to Mac Jones. He undermined him every step of the way.

I still think Belichick was the GOAT, but he was one of the worst coaches and GMs in the league his last few years in New England. Hence why not one team gave him serious consideration to be their head coach and only one team even gave him an interview.

Shanahan is doing nothing with Jones.

Belichick got Jones to the Pro Bowl, but even then Belichick knew he sucked.

Mac Jones has ALWAYS SUCKED and ALWAYS WILL.

You're deranged for thinking otherwise.

The team went 1-4 after the bye, Mac threw 7 interceptions, completed 59% of his passes at 6 yards per reception and fumbled it once… 8 turnovers in five games. Give me a break.

Take Brady away from the guy who drafted and developed him… hypocrite.

Mac sucked after the bye week, he sucked for the next three years. Just stop, it’s embarrassing.

This is revisionist history. Belichick talked Jones up a lot in the offseason and minicamp after Jones' rookie season. It wasn't until he started questioning the offense that Belichick started to sour on him.

Bill Belichick sees ‘dramatic improvement’ from Mac Jones heading into Year 2

Bill Belichick spoke about Mac Jones’ growth from Year 1 to Year 2 as the Patriots begin training camp for the 2022 season.

As Patriots training camp begins, one of the major storylines is the growth of quarterback Mac Jones. As Bill Belichick often talks about, the Year 1 to Year 2 jump is crucial in the NFL.

Jones comes into this camp ready to hit the ground running. He's been busy working on his game throughout the offseason, with his regimen drawing strong praise from his head coach.

"Mac's done a great job. He's worked extremely hard. He's got a tremendous work ethic in all areas. I think there's a dramatic improvement," Belichick told the media during his opening training camp press conference Tuesday morning, noting Jones' growth has been well-rounded. "His physical work and conditioning, working on his mechanics, working on his footwork, working on his understanding of our offense, of opponent defenses, of situations, all those things."

And it is clear that McDaniels brought Mac to the Pro Bowl. Belichick did everything to destroy him.

And depending on how long Purdy is out, we will see if Jones truly is awful or just undermined by Belichick. He looked pretty good on Sunday. We will see how he plays going forward.

Seems that you wanted to pretend things that happened didn't actually happen. So I say take away Brady from Bill and Brady likely is drafted elsewhere and wins titles while Bill is probably some gym teacher in obscurity somewhere and the few people who remember him will only know him as a crap NFL head coach who got his rings riding on Parcells's coattails but couldn't hack it in the NFL by himself.

Nobody forced Bill to draft him and yet he did anyway. He could have easily moved up for Micah Parsons a true game changer on defense... and he decided to go with Jones. Yikes. Guess that doesn't say much for your hoodied hero now does it.

Psst! The defense fell apart after the bye . Before the bye, the Pats gave up 17.5 PPG. And in the second two games against Buffalo, the defense let Josh Allen and the Bills offense score on every drive (a TD on every drive in the playoffs). After the bye, the Pats gave up 30 PPG. You Mac haters always ignore that fact.

The Patriots in the last four under Belichick had the defense fall apart down the stretch every year except for one. That is what happened in 2021.

That game apparently was all Mac Jones fault according to the cult. Bill's defense saw that Mac Jones wasn't scoring on every drive therefore they just gave up curled up in the fetal position with thumbs in mouths or something and let the historic beatdown happen lmaoooo. You really can't make this BS up.

And this is exactly why I call you a hater. Your need to hate Bill has you ignoring the entire rest of a dynastic team and just so you can call him nothing everyone else gets pulled down in your grudge and go from being 3 time SB champs all the way down to not even having a chance at anything.

Bledsoe had a really good 2002 season and again you continue to insult how good the defense was 01-04. I think Bill probably still gets some pretty special things out of them.

For Brady we would have zero clue what things could be. Most likely he rises the top wherever he landed but what if he wound up in Cleveland or Houston some expansion team or something like that could have been too much for anyone to build.

But who even needs to play that game what did happen was the best coach and star player combo in any sport that lead two great groups of dynastic talent to unbelievable heights. And even a third great group that didn't quite reach the achievements it could have.

It’s not revisionist at all. Callahan was reporting internal divisions on Jones before that season even started. I posted after the first game of that season, a loss in Miami, that sadly we had struck out on our QB choice and that he had absolutely no composure and that Callahan was right about the second guesses. If you’re saying I revised at that point, you’d be right, but I can link here to my post after opening weekend

Did you miss the entire football season last year? He played in 10 games. He was awful. pFF rated him 27 out of 34 QBs this weekend. Amazes
Me how people give up on some Patriots but they keep giving this guy chance after chance when he. Is beyond awful. Belichick didn’t make him cry like a baby after a little booboo

That still wouldn't put him even close to "one of the worst QB's the league has ever seen".

Belichick doesn't players like that when he thinks he is not the guy. Never happens. Sorry, you are revising history if you think Belichick didn't think he was the guy during his rookie season. If he did, he would gotten a better veteran to back him up than Brian Hoyer (who also IRed because he questioned Patricia's coaching). Word was Belichick was pissed at Hoyer for immediately questioning the offense and Patricia.

What most likely happened is Belichick started to sour on Mac in the preseason probably because he was asking questions. And word was he was asking legitimate questions that Patricia and Judge took as talking back.

Huh?!? What are you talking about? I didn't miss anything.

Mac didn't take Belichick's incompetence well. I already said that. I said a better QB would have dealt with Belichick's incompetence better. Brady would have just ignored Patricia and called his own plays at the line. But Mac couldn't do that. Brady would have figured out a way to get rid of the ball quickly behind the awful Patriots o-line and made his chicken bleep receiving corp that ran some of the worst routes I have ever seen into chicken salad. But was Brady.

Did you miss all the videos of experts like Dan Orlosky and Kurt Warner just trash offensive schemes that Patricia was trying to run? Them pointing out how all receivers ran the same routes right next to each other making it easy to defend.

I am sorry, but Belichick's coach his last two years was just as bad as Mac's QBing. After decades of preaching "ignore the noise", he literally manufactured a Q controversy himself that divided the lockerroom. And the following year, he literally started and benched Mac Jones like four games in a row also dividing the team. He refused to talk to his DC and QB that year.
