Yesterdays locker room celebration

I wonder how many kickers have gotten a ball after missing 2 extra point attempts?
Not sure how regular it is to give out game balls but if it's something Vrabel ends up doing every week I could easily see someone like Pop getting it next week if he can fight through his slow start to make a key play next week. Just to give a similar scenario that doesn't have to be limited to kicker.

If you're around at least we know those balls will be clean!

nah, you knew Vrabel would get a game ball for his first win in New England... Kraft did the same thing for Mayo last year

He should’ve let Vrabel address the team first then waited and gave him a game ball.

Bob kraft wait? lol... that just ain't gonna happen ...

This gives me upbeat vibes
And something we have not had the last 3 or so seasons
A team with an identity
I saw this as well. This should give any patriots fan continued optimism.. Vrabel just has the overall direction headed in a much better place going forward.

I didn't have the sound on at first, it looked like vrable was ignoring kraft who was trying to give him a game ball.

He didn’t want it. Vrabel’s entire focus is them coming together as a team and thought the credit should go to the players.

I thought Drake would’ve got some mention. He and Rham carried the offense.
At first I thought that was odd too... but then realized it's very much on brand for what Vrabel is doing...
He's building a team with depth & ownership across the status lines. QB's and star offensive players always get the credit and the visible accolades, but that's a given. I think he expects Maye to play well, and that is something Maye can handle, not being publicly swooned, and rather see the credit spread to the typically unsung guys to bring an equality in value on this young team. I think it will do a lot of good for the team building going forward.

He held it in his hand about as long as Bill held that afc championship trophy.

Did you hear Onwenwu's story about spiking the ball after Mayes first TD. Maye made it a point to give it to Onwenwu to spike because OL don't get that chance as often.

I wonder if Maye told Vrabel to skip him or if maybe Vrabel just already knows that about Maye and used it.

Nah. Nbd. He sees it through his lens, only part important to him is the coach. Players are just cogs in the machine now. But Vrabel corrected the focus, very well.

Dude, Vrabes was choked up. He also was choked up in the presser. It wasn't just what you say. The guy had a moment.

Great video, but I wonder what people would be posting if the kicker was getting hugs during the Mayo Era.

My guess is lots of comments on how soft the coach is, BB would never do things that way, yada yada.
Absolutely how people would have reacted.

BUT, taking any one thing in a vacuum isn't fair. Every player is different and is going to respond to different coaching differently. And certain positions are different too. A kicker for example, is a highly visible and individualized position and this is a young player. Mess up in that role and fans can really make your life miserable with the trolling and disrespect. It can be a good move to extend an olive branch to THAT plater while still having a tougher demeanor overall. Vrabel seems to understand that way better than Mayo and have a better overall approach, whereas Mayo was just buddy-buddy in general to a fault at times.

I actually disagree strongly. Get Kraft's stuff out of the way. He's low energy and part of Vrabel giving gout the game balls is galvanizing the team for the breakdown after it. Kraft giving the gameball to Vrabel in the middle of all that is a wet blanket that kills all the momentum.

People overthinking it. Owner giving the coach a gameball for the first win is totally fine, totally fair, totally normal. He did it got it out of the way, and then the the football team be a football team uninterrupted.

Kraft is in his mid eighties, at this point he probably didn't grasp what vrable was doing.

It's not his place to give the players game balls. But he's the only one who can really give the HC a game ball.
