It is an FCS team, and not a particularly talented one at that. A good high school team would give them a run for their money.
Also it was the wrong QB to do with. Mac Jones , just didnt want to accept it and it was a struggle to get a buy in regardless of how matty p called the game. The players ran the asylum as we saw in the raiders game. jones even messaged (allegedly) his alabama coaches asking for input.
It was a lot more about Bill's comfort level with people/old coaches than paying coaches.
That happens with a lot of people and traditionally he built all the patriots teams with in house growth. Even Josh McD at the beginning was a Defensive assistant. He thought it will work the same. He didn't have the players to work with or overestimated the buying with the players he had . McDaniels leaving for the raiders came at a bad time and Ia m not sure BB saw that coming and was caught wrong footed without a plan.
He had a legitimate plan. He just didn't like it....Nick Caley and he poo-poo'd it.
For some reason i dont think he considered caley as the successor, which was the mistake.
Agree and I never understood it. He gave him playcalling duties during the 2022 preseason.
Could be BB's parcells methodology of not naming OC's officially in year 1.
I dunno. Josh was denied by BB to interview him in 2022. He seemed the heir apparent. Seemed Bill thought he might have a shot at it as well. Maybe once they got down to brass tax it was exactly that.
