During Vrabel’s media availability on Wednesday, he was asked if Gonzalez would take the practice field that day.

I don’t think we will see him today,” Vrabel said on the likelihood of Gonzalez practicing. “But he’s continuing to improve, which is positive, and working hard, but I don’t think we will see him today on the practice field.”

At this point, Is be surprised if he makes it to Miami. Fingers crossed. If he's absent, how do you handle the matchup? Who are you putting on Hill? Waddle?

The contract talks with his agent should be interesting.

At this point, I've stopped thinking about him. When he plays, he plays.I've grown weary of the day-to-day monitoring of the situation.
Same, and I'm sure Vrabel has too. No time to think about someone made of glass who wasn't ready to go to start the year. Losing your best player for two months to a hammy pull is a joke. Drink water, stretch, etc. It's preventable.

There's no way they can give this guy a second contact. He hasn't earned it first of all but also he simply doesn't play.

All next year will be about his contract too even though he's still a year out from being a free agent.

It's ridiculous

If he misses a lot of time this year, they have to start putting feelers out for a trade. This team can't pay him a big contract with his availability level

next year they can bump his deal... but really, we control him for 2 more seasons (5th year option) + two potential tags... not worried about his contract right yet

You're not worried about it.

He is.

He's gonna throw a fit if he doesn't get his extension next year. Jets ****ed us all on they extension they handed out early to sauce Gardner.

The precedent is set. He will hold out for his new contract. Count on it.

There is a list of like 100 things to worry about this year.

Gonzo's contract is not one of them. As for the Jets/Gardiner, eh, bumping contracts early has been going on for a few years now... its just part of the game...

I'm not worried at all. It's a prediction predicated on statistical fact.

This man isn't worth the contract he's going to be demanding in 6 months.

then we trade him... someone will offer up a first for him...

Typically players play better in their contract years to get the big contract. Both he and his agent know that if his numbers look crappy this year and next, he's not seeing the payday he wants.

I'm on board with that. He is never available it seems. Thats not worth paying tens of millions for.

Didn't practice today either.

he could be ranked right up there with some of the greats this team has had roaming the backfield... be a shame to miss out on that, like we did with the latter half of Mike Haynes career... or Ty Law...

Right but the question is, is he taking his time now to not leave any room for error on being hurt in the off-season when he plans to start making a fuss about his contract.

We can only speculate. By all metrics, no one thought he would be out this long and frankly there's no end in sight. It doesn't make sense.

Which is the likely outcome. I ain't mad about it.
you know how badly i wanted to drop the line "Don"t get Testy Festy" ?

lmao, it woulda been funny... but cest la'vie

-- as for gonzo, it sucks he's missing games, but hamstrings can be tricky... i'd rather him miss a few games in the first part of the season instead of having this injury linger all year because he wasn't given the time to heal properly
