NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION Week 1: Other Games

John Harbaugh is a weird coach. Good track record, always manages a competitive team, but he might be the worst at protecting a lead in the big lights.
Harbaugh handed the game to the Bills with his conservative play calling on the Ravens last possession. Still in control with less than 2 minutes on the clock all Baltimore needed was a couple of first downs. Harbaugh calls 2 straight handoffs into the line that the Bills were stacking, then a short pass on 3rd and 9. Killed a whole 17 seconds on those plays and handed the ball to Allen with 1.32 left. Game over.

Bills would get absolutely curb stomped by Philly's run game and defense. Allen won't be able to run at will when that Dline is in his face every play.
I do see a brother versus brother playoff game divisonal round coming. Too big of a storyline for them to miss out on.

I have Ravens and bills in AFCCG.

Mahomes has played in 5 Super Bowls and won 3 before he's turned 30.

That's already the resume of the 3rd best QB of all time if you value winning, only Brady and Montana can be put above him on the criteria everyone here has argued why Brady is the GOAT anything else is personal preference.

The Chiefs win the same way the Patriots won, Mahomes wins 80% of the close games.
When given the opportunity, the playoffs are what separates the best QBs.

Manning was great against the lesser competition and made the playoffs every year, but nine one-and-done playoffs speaks volumes.

The current version of that futility is Lamar Jackson with Josh Allen only slightly more accomplished.

Reid was leading teams to playoffs with Alex Smith BB was getting fired from the browns stop this nonsense
Bill is the #1 HC for losing seasons with 8. Reid is #2 with 3.

Losing those two super bowls by like 50 points combined is a blemish though. He played like total crap in those games.

Ageee but that’s only a factor against the likes of Brady and Montana not his current peers or some of the guys he already passed in championships.

That will be used to ding him if him and Montana are both on 4 but some of the guys on 2 like Elway and Manning also have those blowout losses.

I said this 2 weeks ago Buffalo will be in a shoot out each week with teams thier defense is

I have no idea where you get this idea from.

The Bills defense gave up 29 or more points only FOUR times last season. The AFC Champion Chiefs also gave up 29 or more points FOUR times. The Super Bowl champ Eagles? THREE times.

Where is this idea coming from that the Bills defense is some horrible unit?

As for last night, two things are at play:

1) Baltimore has an incredible offense. They have a top 5 QB, top 5 RB, top 5 OL, top 10 WR, etc. They are stacked. They scored 30+ points in ELEVEN (11) games last season.

2) Bills had several defensive players missing. Very key rotational players that will be playing a significant portion of our games when they're healthy/unsuspended. Tre White, Hoecht, Ogunjobi, Carter.

Will the Bills have a top 5 defense? No. But will they be middle of the pack (15th-ish) just like last year? Most likely.

When will Lamar truthers come to grips with reality. Winning in the playoffs or against playoff caliber defenses requires the ability to pass from the pocket and make tight window throws.

The last three Ravens drives were 3 and out, fumble, and 3 and out. The sad part is the Bill’s will make the playoffs but that defense isn’t playoff caliber. Lamar is playoff poison because he isn’t an accurate passer… and no, inflating your regular season stats against the worst teams in the NFL doesn’t make you an accurate passer.

None of those bills players you claim that were missing are difference makers. Allen is phenomenal and he's a great QB to root for. However his defense will likely be the reason to prevent them from reaching a a super bowl. Ed Oliver and Matt Milano are the only players with pedigree on thier defense. Giving up 40 points no matter who the opponent is is never a recipe for success.

He clearly doesn't watch much Sunday night football.
think their window is shut? if they couldn't get it done in 2021, 2022 or 2023, when their defense unit was very good, do they actually have a legit shot in the AFC with their midlin' defense?

seems like Mahomes and Burrow shut the window for them...

With a QB like Josh, the SB window is always open. Now his D may prevent him from winning one, or at least the way the D played last night, but I’m never counting Josh out.

Until they play the Queefs lol
look Allen is great but he just cant beat the Queefs when it matters most
I need to see it to believe

the only reason why I'd say its not completely shut is it appears the Chirefs could be falling off a bit... Mahomes is still very good, but he doesn't seem to be playing football with the madden cheat codes turned on anymore... but mahomes is their daddy

Burrow might be a threat, but they are off to another slow start... so hard to tell where he stands after week 1...

Frustrating part for him, he has done enough to beat them….only to watch his D completely blow it. That may be the case again.

Like we were for so long with Brady... as long as Allen is healthy they will be in the conversation.. but I truly believe that a team like the chargers for example could probably surpass them in the AFC.. that defense has been a problem for them for the last 2 seasons.. if they see Baltimore again in the postseason I think Ravens get them.

These will be the two best offenses in the league this year. Their defenses may not end up being good, but I don't think in week 1 against each other that I'd try to evaluate them too deeply.
