The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

The Bill cult and the anti Bill cult is the dumbest thing ever it's ok to say Bill was an all time great coach for most of his Patriots reign but starting with the Butler benching he started making loads of questionable decisions that put himself and his feelings above the team and making decisions like only wanting to coach guys he likes and have coaches he already has ties to and was no longer the same guy.

Players can be great then get old and suck, that's what happened to Bill.

It's possible to be fair and balanced while discussing things.
It's also possible to think you're being fair and balanced but really just selectively grabbing quotes and using them out of context.

It baffles me that people just cant accept that someone isn't the same coach at 70 that he was at 60.

The people who try and make the case he always sucked just aren't fair and balanced and the same as the people who act like he was still as good as ever and the Krafts sabotaged him clearly weren't watching.
What about the people he worshipped him for 20 years and now want to erase everything he accomplished as being all Brady?

I believe he would have much less of a problem getting back in the NFL at age 60 than he does now for obvious reasons...

I don't think people are saying he always sucked but his track records as a coach with and without Brady are very different and the sample size of each are large enough that the gap is a notable part of his legacy.

Nope, their world is a "till death do us part" kind of world.

Their world is a place where something good once has to stay good forever otherwise they'd have to start thinking critically about other things and then their whole world view might be at risk.

Instead they double down on the good stuff, put blinders on to the bad stuff, and call out people who might challenge their world view as "haters"

They cling to the concept of permanance in a world filled with countless examples of impermanance.

Not just that, but also as Brady's long career was winding down there were things he was less willing to do and/or put up with.

People change. It's a story as old as time. Nothing lasts forever.

We should be thankful for what we had instead of bickering over blame/credit.

The people who try and make the case he always sucked just aren't fair and balanced and the same as the people who act like he was still as good as ever and the Krafts sabotaged him clearly weren't watching.

We can criticize the late period Bill without casting dispersions on the dynasty period or before.

Criticism isn't hate.

Except the quotes I selected are examples of things that members have said over and over for years now. While the BB quotes are typically one time comments being completely distorted.

What about the people he worshipped him for 20 years and now want to erase everything he accomplished as being all Brady?

What about the people who want to use Bill's accomplishments during the Dynasty period to erase all the bad decisions that happened as it wound down and after?

Yes winning 6 SBs as a Patriot should pretty much erase everything.

You're free to see it this way if you like, but to insist everyone else who doesn't is a "hater" is a ridiculous stance.

Bill won 6 SBs as a Patriot, but then continued to lead the team thereafter.

Everything he did is up for discussion.

To suggest everything he did before the end of the Dynasty means everything he did afterword is irrelevant is IMO absurd.

Based on comments as recently as the last few days I'd say I'm batting well over .500 with who I've called out as haters. If someone's not really a hater and I got it wrong all I can say is you got to close to the fire.

Ooooooohhhhhhh, your “ the fire!” You’re actually a mentally disturbed child, and you aren’t burning anyone, you are just demonstrating in post after post just how acute your mental illness is.
He's clearly a troll and it's astounding how much attention he gets. More than half of all the posts here are responses to his flame-throwing posts, which I stopped reading a long time ago.

Member XLIX has never hid the Fact that he hates Bill.
Once again you’re lying (as usual). I do not hate Bill one bit. I just criticize him when it’s deserved and over the past several years he’s deserved a lot of criticism.

“What I heard is that he was offered an incentive-laden deal,” Breer said of Atkinson, who completed spring practices under Belichick before he entered the transfer portal. “Heavy on incentives. Their best player. It was going to be heavy on incentives NIL-wise.”

So UNC lost their best defensive player over incentives, sounds familiar.

I'd rather like to know the rationale behind Bill's decisions starting in 2017 (Butler decision) through 2019 where he didn't want to address the offense and not re-sign Tom Brady to a very reasonable contract. If the Pats re-signed Tom Brady and averaged 10 wins per season through 2022, I have Bill needing 9 more wins to tie Don Shula. Instead, he could get passed up in 3 seasons by Andy Reid. However, his 6 rings as HC will be harder to match.

And the noise begins.

I bet Bill's seat is a little warmer than people think.

What is so amusing, is how the BDS crowd ignores the Kraft's involvement in Patriot matters leading to where we are now. They could give a rats axx how Mayo was treated too.

The beginning of the end began when Kraft made BB get rid of Jimmy.

I totally predicted this as being one of Belichick’s failures at the college level. Every single player is a UFA every single year. You can’t bully them into accepting weak deals. Disrespect them and they’re gone.

I bet Atkinson is getting more guaranteed from Ohio State than the incentives would have been in Chapel Hill.
